Spencer Reid- IKEA (h)
Moving in with someone was a strange thing, but it wasn't a bad strange...it was a good kind of strange.
Knowing that you wouldn't have to leave at night anymore, arrive in the early hours of the morning, drive away from the person that you wanted to be with – that was one of the best things you could think of.
It was hard at times, when you had a bad day all you wanted was to curl up with your boyfriend and not have to think about anything else but being able to stay the night with him was rare.
His job pulled him away from you a lot of the time, you worked in the BAU alongside him but from time to time you would stay back with Penelope rather than travelling.
Spencer had been in a relationship with you for the past three years, it moved slowly to being with and it resembled courting more than dating.
It involved going out on small dates once a week, which escalated to twice a week and then eventually the two of you made it official.
After three years, Spencer had suggested that you moved in together.
He had explained the logic behind it; you worked in the same job so it was easier to get there, it reduced the amount of times the two of you would have to travel between apartments and it just made sense.
You knew that Spencer just wanted to live with you anyway, you were that couple that didn't need to overly show affection but it was the small gestures that counted – holding hands during briefing, sat with arms around each other whilst doing work.
Instead of moving into Spencer's apartment or him moving into yours, you had purchased a new flat together that was a bit bigger than both of your previous homes but it was yours and that was all that mattered.
With a week away from work, thanks to Hotch, your latest challenge to tackle together was flatpack furniture from IKEA.
Spencer was sat on the floor of your bedroom, pieces of wood and screws and nails scattered around him as well as packaging and he was clutching the instructions for dear life.
The pieces that were strewn across the floor was going to, hopefully, be built into a cabinet that would hold books and different things.
You had been situated on the bed, cross legged, work files everywhere and a notebook on your lap – even though you did have a week off, you and Spencer wanted to at least stay up to date with what your team was doing.
Rather suddenly, spencer stood up and threw the instructions down before groaning rather loudly and running his hand through his hair for the millionth time.
"Something wrong?" you questioned making him look to you.
He sighed "I can't figure out those instructions" he stated whilst glaring down at the instructions like they were going to morph into some form of beast and attack him.
You giggled a little "The great Spencer Reid, genius, with an IQ of however big can't work out flatpack furniture instructions?" you quizzed in disbelief.
He moved from his little circle of clear space, where he had been sitting, to situate himself behind you on the bed "It's like it's mocking me" he mumbled.
You felt him wrapping his arms around your waist from behind whilst he lay on his side "It's practically saying please don't give up on me" you told him.
He groaned and hugged you tighter, causing you to fall back onto him and into his stomach "Can I give up for like five minutes?" he pleaded with puppy eyes.
You shook your head as you began to play with his messy hair, due to him repeatedly running his hands through it, "Nope. You said you would build it" you stated which caused him to sigh "Be the man of the house" you joked making him smile.
He sat up, as did you, and reached around to press a soft kiss to your lips "Fine. Read me the case files whilst I build please?" he asked before getting off of the bed.
You nodded in response "I will. Once you figure out those instructions" you told him, pointing to the booklet that was thrown to the floor minutes earlier.
He pouted but picked the booklet up, and then deciding to sit down in his previous spot, "They're so simple!" he exclaimed within seconds "I was reading it all wrong" he spoke more to himself rather than you.
"I know. You were holding them upside down the whole time" you didn't look up from the file you were holding as you talked.
Spencer chuckled and quickly stood in front of the bed, lifting your head up so that you were looking at him "Case files please" he reminded you after having kissed you rather deeply.
You smiled and picked up the first file that Hotch had sent over "Alright" you said in response "The case is in Houston, Texas"
