FOUR

ANNABETH
AFTER about an hour of driving Leo finally exhausted himself by screaming and fell asleep. Leaving me and Percy alone, driving in silence.
"What on earth are we going to do Wise Girl?" Percy asked me, not taking his eyes off of the road.
"I really don't know Percy," I glanced behind me. The girl was staring to wake up. "Percy, pull over."
"Why?" he demanded.
"Because the girl is waking up," Percy glanced back and pulled over. The car rolled to a halt, both of us turned around to look at the girl, just as her eyes fluttered open.
As soon as her eyes opened she sat up. She looked at Leo and started screaming; she turned to Percy and Annabeth and screamed lounder. Leo sat bolt upright and joined in Hazel's screaming. I sighed and put a hand over the girl's mouth, just as Percy slapped Leo across the face. Leo stopped screaming.
"Dude, really?" Leo looked at Percy, rubbing his face. Percy shrugged.
"Shush, it's okay, we're not going to hurt you," I told her, with my hand still over her mouth, "if you promise not to scream I'll take my hand away from your mouth and we can talk this out like adults. Do you promise not to scream?" The girl nodded, I took my hand off of her mouth, "look we're really sorry about this."
"Oh sure you are!" The girl said, "The two terrorist who killed an entire wedding party." Both Percy and I flinched.
"It was a misunderstanding that we really don't like to talk about," Percy said stiffly.
I shot him a look, "What's your name?" I asked her.
"Hazel," she said.
"Okay, well technically you're a hostage thingy, but we're not keeping you hostage." Percy said, sounding very serious.
"Seaweed Brain, that makes no sense," I told him.
"Well Wise Girl, how would you explain that any better?" He asked me.
"They have pet names," Leo whispered to Hazel, "why do they have pet names?"
We both glared at Leo, "Valdez, I'm going to murder you slowly and painfully." Percy growled.
"That sounds fun!" Leo squeaked.
Hazel looked terrified. "It's okay," I reassured her, "he probably won't." That didn't make her look much less terrified.
"Right, I need the toilet!" Leo exclaimed.
Percy looked at Leo with sceptically eyes, "really dude, now?"
"It's fine, let's go to a rest stop," I told Percy. He turned around and rolled his eyes, he started the engine.

They pulled into an empty rest stop, a small one with only a small brick building with toilets inside. I climbed out of the car and pulled the seat forwards so that Hazel and Leo could climb out, Leo sprinted off towards the toilets and I watched him go with a small frown. Percy climbed out as well and shrugged, "Whilst we're here we might as well use the loo," he walked off after Leo.
Hazel climbed out of the car, "you really aren't as bad as you'd expect mass murders to be." She walked towards the toilets as well.
"I told you, it was a misunderstanding," I jogged to catch up with her.

PERCY
I walked into the toilets and bumped into Leo, he was standing still in the doorway. He was looking at something. I stood up and looked around him.
There was a man stood there, he had the build of an American football player, he was obviously of Chinese origin. He was stood with his hands in the air. In a surrender gesture.
"Percy?" Leo asked, "This is bad right?"
"No not bad," The guy said, "I've seen you on the news, you're Leo Valdez, and you're Percy Jackson right?"

"Right," I reached inside my jacket, and clenched my hand around the handle of my gun. Hey, you can't blame a guy on the run for carrying a gun; I have never used it though.
"My name is Frank. I've been here trying to catch a lift away from Chicago. I escaped from a police station in Chicago," He told them, "Can I have a lift?"
"Annabeth!" I yelled, I heard footfalls and Annabeth and Hazel ran in.
"What?" Annabeth asked, her eyes fell on Frank, "oh." I grabbed Annabeth's arm and started to pull her away, I turned back to Leo.
"Keep your eyes on him," I told him.
Once Annabeth and I were out of earshot I explained everything to her.
"I don't see why we shouldn't help him, from what you've told me he's in the same boat as us, trying to avoid the law," Annabeth glanced over her shoulder towards the others, "Let's just make sure we keep an eye on him."
