CHAPTER THREE: HER NAME IS BAE
THIRD PERSON POV
"Bae Soujin got me... very taken aback considering her willingness to take on Jeon Jungkook's case, a case where he himself has a low chance of winning," Yeonjun said as he sipped his orange juice.
"She's very interesting. But isn't that why I hired her?" Yuuri said as she looked out of her office window.
"Usually every rookie would take the low trail and train themselves until they handle bigger cases, but Soujin would suddenly jump to a case that's been around for a year," Yuuri explained as she twirled her wine.
"I admire such people like that, interviewing her was such a great opportunity for you too, Yeonjun!" Yuuri smiled and Yeonjun sighed.
"Still, a rookie... I'm worried she might get herself in trouble," Yeonjun said and Yuuri tsked.
"Don't worry about that Yeonjun, I trust Soujin a lot! If she says she can handle it, then she really can!" Yuuri smiled.
"She reminds me of you in a way noona, always jumping to big things," Yeonjun rolled his eyes.
"And I see you still can't drink wine because you're a light drinker, huh Yeonjun?" Yuuri replied and Yeonjun bit his lip.
-
Meanwhile, in the prison cell, Jungkook was contemplating as he places his head on a wall, pressing his forehead into it as his thoughts were all over the place.
"What is our Koo doing?~ What's in your mind?~," a voice, flowing like a song chimes in as he tries to shake the other back to reality.
"Shut the fuck up," Jungkook seethes, as if he just had his period.
"You're moody today? How suprising to see you like this~," he teases as he keeps nudging Jungkook.
"Shut it, Taehyung," Jungkook replies, and Taehyung squints his eyes.
"What are you thinking about? Is it because a lawyer came in and offered you to work with them?" Taehyung asks.
"I still don't get how you manage to guess what other's are thinking," Jungkook replies.
"So I am right," Taehyung wiggles his brows.
"So.... who is this lawyer who occupied the thoughts of the great guy, Jeon Jungkook?" Taehyung chuckles, as if mocking him.
"A very... interesting person but I'm not telling you the details."
SOUJIN POV
"AA... aaa.. choo!" I sneeze into a tissue, and I sniff as I throw it in the trashbin.
"Why am I so cold today? Is someone talking behind my back or something?" I mumble to myself as I was in my office, organizing the files and reports Yeonjun gave me.
But still, accepting that case they said was so hard that even seniors couldn't solve it...
...what if... I can't solve it? What if I fail and it's all my fault?
I know Jungkook is a high and well-known criminal who did many illegal things, but...
Did my ego just take over me when I took that case?
Soujin, don't overthink!
Stop overthinking for a second because you don't know the outcomes! What's good is the progress you're making!
Yeah... the progress...
I say as I pep talk myself infront of my reflection on the computer screen. I frown and sigh as I grab my phone, and I open it. My eyes were trailed on a text message and I sigh as I open it.
Mr. Song Jaepil
Good day Ms. Bae!
I heard you plan
on talking with Jungkook
in terms of being his
attorney?
Yes, Mr. Song. I'll do what
I can to help him.
That's great. Jungkook
may be cold and super
arrogant and annoying,
but please try to be
patient with him. I
myself have never seen
a soft side from him.
I understand Mr. Song, I'll
make him cooperate with me.
So, even if he's his friend, he has never seen his soft side.
"I can already tell he's a huge jerk anyway. He assumes a lot and his mouth is a neverending machine gun," I mumble to myself as I turn off my phone.
"Kyonghwan. Mr. Song Jaepil is the CEO of Kyonghwan. I may be able to get more information of him since he is Jungkook's friend. Then I'm sure to get some key ideas to use on Jungkook," I mumbled as I jotted them down on my notebook.
"Jeon Jungkook had accomplices, it would also be good to interrrogate them but it might not cooperate, so I will have to resort on the victims as well," I said softly.
"Also, I will start researaching the people present in the incident, they will be able to give statements," I mumbled to myself.
-
"Soujin, I decided on something," Yeonjun said as he sat infront of me, a pile of documents stacked on his firm arms, he placed them on his lap before looking at me.
"Yes, Mr. Choi?"
"I want to make sure you succeed this case. I applaud your willingness to take this case, but if you have any troubles or concerns, feel free to visit me or Ms. Kang. We'll be happy to help you," Yeonjun said, and I nodded as I arranged my things.
"Thank you for the support Mr. Choi. I'll be going now, I need to start gathering evidence, then if I get my hands on this solid evidence, I'll convince Mr. Jeon again," I replied as I grabbed my suitcase, and fixed my work jacket as I stood up from the chair.
"I wish you luck, Ms. Bae. If you want, you can call me after your visit with Jungkook's familiars, then I can pick you up," Yeonjun said.
"Oh don't worry Mr. Choi, I'll take the cab," I replied and Yeonjun shook his head.
"No, I want to ensure your safety, Ms. Bae Soujin, so please take care of yourself, the job of an attorney is not easy," Yeonjun said and I nodded before bowing at him as thanks, and I walked out of the door.
-
Kyonghwan Corportation.
I stared up at the huge symbol that represented Kyonghwan. It was a company that was responsible for many things, the second most successful company in Seoul. Over 70% of Korea's population use this corporation's goods and products.
"Welcome to Kyonghwan, may I know your reason to be here?" A woman said as she looked over her computer.
"Good morning, I'm here to see Mr. Song Jaepil, the CEO," I said as I showed my attorney badge.
"Ah, an attorney... have you scheduled an appointment with him? CEO Song is currently in office, but I do not know if he is busy because that is out of the line of my occupation," The woman asked.
"Excuse me, you're the attorney I met yesterday? Right?" A voice echoed, and I looked to my left to see a tall man dressed in a suit.
"Ah, Mr. Song, I've been wanting to meet you," I said as I bowed, and Mr. Jaepil smiled as he approached me.
"I'm quite free at the moment. We can talk at my office," he smiled and I nodded as I followed him.
As we settled in his office, I took out my laptop and placed it infront of me, turning it on before proceeding to go to my notes to type in the answers.
"Have you... agreed to be Jungkook's attorney?" Jaepil said as he slided me a cup of tea.
"He hasn't really discussed it with me yet. So I thought if I get a few leads and information about his reason of doing those acts, he would let his guard down. I understand why he's like that," I replied, and Jaepil smiled.
"It's good. He's a really hardheaded guy, so I am glad you are patient with him," Jaepil responded.
"Now, please tell me more about Mr. Jeon Jungkook."
