CHAPTER 8- Going All Out (Mascot)

"This really wasn't supposed to happen, and you know it." I muttered, shooting her a glare.

I warned her about the possibility of this happening, but she wouldn't listen to me.

"Hope you have some fight left in you." I asked, giving her a dark look. She said nothing.

Of course, what was she supposed to say? All mouth but no strength to back it. I quickly took a stance. Before I could properly prepare myself, though, one of them leaped into the air.

While it was still mid-air, I threw a kick at it as the rest of them converged on us. I unleashed kicks and blows randomly, but the horde kept coming.

I tried to connect to these wolves telepathically, but it seemed as if they had lost their bloody minds. This wasn't part of the plan.

If only Tasha had listened to me, we wouldn't be in this mess. Glancing at Tasha to see how she was faring, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity for her. She was barely surviving, and any moment from now, she would be on her knees.

Before I could turn back to my fight, one of them slammed into me, sending me to the ground. Getting back on my feet, one of them slashed at me with its claws, but I quickly stepped back. And I returned a punch of my own.

But even as I fought hard, I was getting tired, and I am sure they noticed because they grew frantic. Not long after, I was knocked off my feet to the ground again, and one of them climbed on top of me. Using all the strength I could muster, I held it off as it snapped its jaws at me.

Another joined it, grabbing me by the leg. I yelled in pain as its fangs dug into my ankle. "Stop. I command you to stop right now." I ordered, but they didn't listen; instead, it seemed as if they grew even more violent. Is this where I am going to finally meet my end?

Tasha was not faring any better than I was. She was struggling to get back on her feet, and it looked like she wouldn't be able to make it. The wolves were advancing on her. It was a clear sign they had no need for prisoners.

But just as they were about to get to her, an elderly woman appeared, raising her staff.

The light from the moon shone so brightly that it nearly blinded me, and before I knew it, all the wolves were thrown back.

Without wasting much time, I wumbled to my feet and quickly limped towards Tasha, who was now unconscious.

This was not supposed to happen.

"Please, you need to take her with you." I said worried that my plans will come to ruin.

"That's why I am here," she stated.

"Who are you, by the way?"

"I am Mascot Lupus, her mate."

"Oh, that explains it." She replied.

"But what plans do you have for escaping them?" She replied, pointing at the wolves, who were slowly inching towards our direction.

"I have none. I will hold them back while you escape with her."

"Alright then, if you say so." And with that, she was off with Tasha.

Turning back, I watched as the werewolves sauntered and converged towards me. The moonlight cast eerie shadows as I faced the approaching pack of werewolves, determination burning within me. Tasha's safety depended on this standoff, though I didn't really care about her except for the artifact.

However, the dark lord won't be too pleased to hear that the one person who had the best chance of finding it was dead.

The leader of the pack, a formidable black wolf with piercing yellow eyes, took a menacing step forward. I clenched my fists, ready to confront it. The first strike came swiftly, and I dodged, countering with a fierce blow that sent a werewolf reeling.

The others circled, their snarls echoing through the night. It was a dance of survival, with each move a calculated risk. As the battle unfolded, I tapped into my powers once more, attempting to establish a telepathic link with the wolves, but it proved futile once more.

I fought with everything I had, using a combination of martial prowess and psychic strength. Yet, the odds were against me. Even when I almost defeated their alpha, the pack, driven by an unseen force, intensified their attacks. The battle raged on, and exhaustion clawed at my every move.

A desperate idea formed in my mind-to tap into the elements, seeking assistance from the very nature that surrounded us.

With focused intent, I channeled the energy of the moonlit night, unleashing a burst of supernatural force. The wolves hesitated, momentarily stunned by the unforeseen power. Seizing the opportunity, I commanded them to retreat.

For a moment, it seemed as if they would obey. Then, the unseen force tightened its grip, compelling them to resume the attack with renewed ferocity.

"Oh c'mon" I exclaimed in exasperation but I stood my ground, determined to fight them off. As the night unfolded, the outcome remained uncertain, and the true extent of the challenges ahead began to reveal itself in the haunting howls of the relentless pack. I tried one more time to establish a connection between us, but again, it was a waste of time.

Either they were too dumb, or they didn't know who I was. "These fools" anger burned inside me at their insolence. But then, I controlled myself.

"Very well then; it seems I don't have an option. I have been going too soft with you guys. It's time to go all out." I said with a smile.

It ends here!

"Since you all don't know your place, prepare to be vanquished. All of you!"
