And Then She Was Gone

This is for Week 7 Poetry Competition
———————————————————————

It's been two years since I heard you laugh
Or saw your welcoming smile
And you haven't walked into our house
Or called us in a while.

Your glasses lay unused beside
The clock next to the bed
Your hat's still on the coat rack
Your book remains unread.

I used to think I saw your shadow
Dreamt you were standing by
Looking in on our sweet boy
As I sung a lullaby.

But days roll by and months, now years,
And the show, it must go on,
And when I look to see your light,
I realize it has gone.

I don't know where you've traveled to,
Death keeps us ever guessing,
And listening now, I only hear
The silence of your passing.
