Comfort In The Night...
It's only been a few hours after Jane left the cemetery to visit her parents. She was able to pull herself together and regain her composure thanks to being in the arms of her sweet Mary... but into the late hours of the night, Jane couldn't sleep and decides to head to the kitchen and get a caffeine fix. She was too lazy to fix herself coffee, but decided to get an ice cold Java Monster out of her fridge. Sitting clad only in a black bra and panties, watching the moon through her window, Jane becomes lost in her thoughts... and feeling a tear silently fall down her face... then, she hears an all-too familiar soft male voice speak up... it was her daddy-- Bruce.
"Man, I tell you what, you wanna talk about waking up? Try a king size Jolt Cola and regular coffee. That'll get you going." Bruce chuckled warmly.
"Hi, daddy..." Jane replied fondly, sniffling, wiping the tears from her eyes. She gave her father a big bear hug. Bruce stood near the fridge, turning the ice dispenser's light on, providing a soft night light. He was decked out in full military dress, a crisply pressed uniform adorned with medals. Jane saw his Command Sergeant Major patch on his arm, showing what rank he was. His hair was clean and brushed back. He looked like he was going to attend a military ball. Bruce reached into the fridge to get himself a Java Monster.
"I really got a big kick out of that bear you got me, sweetheart. I thought that was really sweet." Bruce said, drinking his Java Monster.
"Me and Mary picked it out." Jane replied, smiling.
"Well, you did a good job, kiddo..." Bruce looked at Jane, her face dried from previous crying. "Hey... don't cry, Janie... I ain't dead. I'm more alive than ever, and me and your mom are enjoying it all... [begins to playfully tickle Jane] If you cry, I'll cry... [tickle tickle] Do you want your daddy to cry? [hears Jane giggling, sees her laughing]
"That's my baby girl. Hey, remember that time after I returned home from Desert Storm, your mommy, and your sister came to see me-- on our way out, I accidentally let loose the loudest, deepest fart ever. Your mom was like 'Bruce!' I think it was the Taco Bell I had when I came to the airport. You and your sister were falling over laughing."
"It sure wasn't a silent but deadly, but loud and rumbly." Jane replied, laughing.
"I told your father to get some Beano before he ate some Mexican!" A female voice spoke up, playfully. The voice belonged to Jane's mother-- Paula. Paula was dressed in a very beautiful flowing white dress that appeared to be made with material to keep one cool during the warm summer days. She was so beautiful, she looked like a character out of a romance novel-- her long blonde hair shiny and lovely, and her pearly white smile, radiating.
"Mommy!" Jane said, giving her mother a hug, like a little child welcoming a parent home from a long trip.
"Hi, sweetie," Paula said warmly, giving her daughter a kiss. "Those were the prettiest silk flowers you've gotten me. You know exactly what to get me, huh, love?"
"Yep." Jane said. Jane's sadness and crying turned to laughter, joy, and smiling, seeing her parents visit her from heaven.
"Remember what I said, honey... don't ever feel ashamed or scared to cry... You're allowed to cry." Paula said, petting Jane, caressing her black hair.
"That's right, Janie. When we hear our daughters cry, we comfort them... and that's why we're here, baby love." Bruce said softly, holding Jane close to him. "You know me and your mother are always watching over you... we'll live on in your dreams."
"I love you, daddy..." Jane replied, softly.
"And we love you, too, sweetie. Hey, look at me..." Bruce said, lifting Jane's chin up. "It's gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay."
Paula kisses her daughter on the cheek.
"Sweetheart," Paula said, "let me give you some money to buy Mary some flowers and dinner, and you take Jessie to where ever she wants to go. They'll be like they won the lottery." Paula laid in front of Jane two crisp $100 bills.
"I sure will."
"Janie, this Java Monster is pretty good. Can I take another one for the road?" Bruce asked, smiling.
"Sure, daddy." Jane replied, smiling back.
"I'm gonna give you a little something..." Bruce said. He took off his military officer combination hat and gave it to Jane.
"Awww, daddy, your hat."
"You can have it, love... Your daddy was starting to get hat hair anyway." Bruce replied,
laughing.
"We love you, honey." Paula said, giving Jane a hug along with her husband joining in.
"We'll be here [pointing to Jane's heart] if you need us, kiddo." Bruce said, giving his daughter a kiss.
"When you close your sweet eyes, my child, and you drift off to sleep... in your sweetest dreams, that's where your father and I will be." Paula said. The two departed Jane and Mary's home into the night...
Jane felt a calming, comforting reassurance that her mommy and daddy were watching over her and that they were never gonna leave her... they will live on in her dreams. What seemed like an eternity was only several hours into the night. Jane disrobed from her bra and panties and slipped into bed where Mary was... got into her arms and drifted off.
