Throwing the catching device onto the ground, you wait anxiously for the appearance of the Creepymon that your grandfather had secretly given to you. This was your first Creepymon ever; your grandfather had been a renowned trainer within your region amongst the few people that trained the dangerous beings, and he had passed on his strongest, most prized companion to you.
You were excited, yet a bit scared that you would take up your grandfather's legacy as a Creepymon trainer. The job was a dangerous one, especially since Creepymon were all killers; untamed and wild, born enemies to society. The Creepymon you had with you now...well, you've never released it before, nor have you ever seen it. You hoped that it would be a strong one, so that you would get a good start in your journey, but you also hoped that he or she wouldn't kill you at first sight.
Taking a deep breath, you watch as the catching device; a dusty black and white sphere rolled to a stop in the dirt, and it slowly opened up, releasing the figure of the captive Creepymon...
Before you stood a very tall black and white--no, monochromatic being with very long arms and claws and long pitch black hair that fell over their shoulders. A somewhat demented expression could be seen in the being's dark eyes, and for a nose this creature had a cone. In short, it looked a lot like a creepy circus clown.
"How do you do....?" Asked he, a long, menacing grin forming on its face. " are you my new trainer? "
Shocked, and disturbed by this one's appearance you blink uneasily, your body freezing. "I am. who are you...?"
"My name is Laughing Jack, the Clown Killer Creepymon! And since you are my new trainer, it is my duty to pledge my allegiance to you till the very end."
The clown bowed formally, then stood again with a smirk. You try smiling at him, at the same time questioning your grandfather's choice of companion...
"My name is (Y/N). Good to meet you, I guess."
"Now that we are acquainted, let's get straight to business, shall we?"
Laughing Jack grins and points to the woods at the very end of your neighborhood. "Starting our journey, it's important that we make sure our teams grows, no? I know that within those trees over there another Creepymon resides now waiting for someone to pass through. However, with me alongside you, that Creepymon is only sitting out it's last moments of freedom. Soon, I will defeat it and you will catch it and call it your own!"
You nod in amazement at the way Laughing Jack put that all together. "Thinking ahead are we? I like how you roll. How do you know there's another Creepymon waiting there?"
"A Creepypasta's sense, something you, a normal human could never have nor fathom. Hehehehe!"
"Well then let's start moving, Laughing Jack. We have a whole journey ahead of us. I've been waiting for this day ever since I first got you."
An excited expression grew on your face as you imagined what adventure lay ahead of you. This was the most dangerous hobby anyone could ever pursue; training Creepymon and fighting them, but despite the threat of major risks, life-changing injuries, and death, you felt excited to start on what may be the only eventful thing to ever occur in your boring life.
You never did anything besides stay at home with your overprotective mother. She feared Creepymon and knew the region was littered with them, so she never allowed to you to go outside in fear for your life. You only left the house with her once every month to go and visit your grandfather.
On your last visit is when you received Laughing Jack and was the first time you decided you would no longer allow yourself to stay secluded from the world because of your mother's fear. You would go out and train Creepymon alongside the one your grandfather gave you and become the best trainee that's ever lived.
"Hey Laughing Jack, do me a favor and hang out for a bit inside your catching device while I go inside and gather a few more supplies for the journey. I won't be long," You say, glancing up at the tall being. "As you wish," Laughing Jack replied, and you quickly summon him back into his device.
Running into your small home, you're greeted with your mother seated at the kitchen table reading while the news blared on the television. The family cat hopped on the table when you walked in and glared at you, it's dull eyes watching you closely. It was the same cat you had brought home a while back when it was just a kitten, left on the side of the road and half-dead from being attacked by a Creepymon. Even after all this time of feeding and taking care of it, it still looked frail and almost like it was deathly ill. Your mother wasn't fond of the cat too much, but she let you keep it anyways. Only because she didn't know the real truth about the cat...
"Mom, I'm about to go on that hike, but I just need a few more things," You announce, quickly walking past her, hiding the catching device at your side and sprinting towards your bedroom. "Don't rush, take your time. The world can wait for you," She said, not once looking up from her book. "Not for much longer," You mutter under your breath. You dash into your room and begin scavenging through your drawers for things like flashlights and a pocket knife.
The cat skittered into the room and glared at you from behind for a moment before jumping atop of your dresser and looking down at you. "You seem like you're eager to leave me behind," The cat hissed, twitching its ear irritatedly. You jump and look up, not having noticed the cat had entered your room. "I'm not eager to leave you. I'm gonna miss you like hell, Grinny. But I can't stay here all my life. There's a whole world out there I gotta see, and catching Creepymon is my way to go."
"You think I want to stay cooped up in here all my life too? Why can't you take me with you? I'm a Creepymon too!"
You shake your head at the Creepymon and sigh, "I can't leave mom here all alone by herself. She's already aching that I'm going out on my own. You staying here with her will give her at least some form of comfort. After all, she doesn't know you're a Creepymon, she thinks your a regular cat."
"That's only because I haven't revealed to her this...."
Grinny's face suddenly extended into a wide, unnatural grin with long crooked teeth, and his eyes went wide and pale. The cat's stretched mouth had always disturbed you, so you tried not to really look at him whenever he did it. "I bet your mother always wondered why you named me 'Grinny Cat', ahahahah. Guess she'll never know....."
Grinny's grin grew smaller and he padded off the dressers towards your catching device and began sniffing it curiously. "I can't believe it's an actual Creepymon. If your mother knew you had this, you'd never see the light of the outside world again!"
"She'll never know. At least, not until I become a widely known trainer like my grandfather. I plan to return once I make a name for myself," You respond, grabbing the device that held Laughing Jack from Grinny's nose. "When that day comes, I'm finally letting the grin loose on your mother, you hear me? I'm tired of this domesticated cat baloney."
You chuckle at Grinny Cat and slide the supplies you collected into your backpack. You then place a pocket knife in your front pocket and sling the flashlight on your belt. "Goodbye Grinny, I'll miss you my little kitty-witty~"
"Stop THAT! You know I hate it when you call me that!" Grinny meowed in annoyance while you rub the kitten's cheeks playfully. "I know you do, that's why I still call you it. Be good for me, okay?"
"....No promises."
You shrug and stroke Grinny's head a few times before standing up and walking out of your bedroom for the last time. It was now time to head off on your journey.
"I'm going now mom. See you...see you soon," You say, walking up to your mother with a solemn smile. Your mother looked up and returned the somber expression. She then got up from her chair and hugged you tightly. "I'll miss you so much...please be careful. Remember to stay close to populated towns and cities with lots of people so that Creepymon mightn't attack you. If anything, please call a CM Guard or a police officer, I would hate for anything to happen to you!"
"You know I will, mom," You say, hugging her and rubbing her back assuringly. She nodded and sniffed, slowly pulling away from the hug. "Goodbye, {y/n}."
You nod and slowly start to go for the front door. Both your mother and Grinny Cat watched you leave with somewhat saddened eyes. "Meow meow meow meow!" Grinny Cat meowed, his tail swishing as if saying goodbye. He then grinned at you and the grin was unfortunately the last thing you saw before you closed the front door.
When you're far enough from your house and near the entrance to the woods, you release Laughing Jack from the capturing decide again. "You said you wouldn't be long. I've been waiting, hahah!" He remarked, glaring at you with a grin. "Well your waits over. Now let's head into the woods before someone sees you," You respond, starting into the grassy terrain. You stop before going any further and take one more glance at your small neighborhood . "I'll be back soon," You murmur with a small smile.
"You'd hope," Laughing Jack added mockingly. You roll your eyes and start trekking into the woods again with the terror clown following you close behind. Once you'd stepped into the world of Creepymon, there was no turning back. You could either catch as many as you could and reign as the best trainer or die trying. Literally.
"Laughing Jack. As my first and only Creepymon so far, I am entrusting you with my life," You say sternly as the two of you walked further and further away from the neighborhood. "Promise me you'll protect me as your trainer all costs? Even if it means death?"
The clown chuckled and muttered, "Ah, the pact between a trainer and their Creepymon I see..."
You stop and turn when Laughing Jack suddenly stops walking and kneels on one knee, looking to you straight in the eye. "I promise I will protect you at all costs, even if it means the at the expense of my life. After all, what else am I here for? Hahaha!"
Smiling, you nod to him and motion for him to stand up again. "Thank you."
With the power of the bond between a trainer and their Creepymon, the Creepymon is subjected to fight beside and protect their trainer for as long as their trainer holds them. As long as the bond between you and Laughing Jack grew and remained stable, he would always be by your side and defend you. If anything went for worse...well, he could easily kill you.
Knowing this as you two walked again, you shivered a bit and muttered loud enough for him to hear. "I trust you."
Laughing Jack smirked, hearing your words and placed a hand on your shoulder assuringly. "Don't worry, my dear trainer. I promise no harm will come to you from me ever. And I will do my best to protect you from the other killers out there."
You stopped shivering and felt more secure with his promise. Now that you two were a team, it was time to face the enemies that roamed the woods, and anything else that was to come in this dark world of Creepymon...
