Torture Method 4:

One of the most sadistic methods of torture in the Medieval times involved a cage with one side open and strapped to the victim's body, the open side to the body. It would then be filled with large rodents and a heating element which would be placed on the other side of the cage. The cage would be made of glass with a metal frame by the way so heat could not escape. 

The rodents' natural instinct is to flee from the heat and in order to escape, they would dig through the victim's body. The victim was alive from the start but the torture was fatal.
