To Them
To all them who judge and stare,
My eyes aren't downcast because I'm ashamed,
It's because I don't allow myself to make eye contact with strange men.
My body isn't covered because I'm insecure,
It's because it's so damned special, I need to wrap it up like treasure.
My ears aren't deaf to your snide remarks or the animalistic howls,
It's because my armour is painted with patience that holds back my growl.
My mouth isn't mute because I'm timid or weak,
It's because I was taught when to speak before I was taught how to speak.
To the eyes that judge and stare,
To approach me again, hope you never dare.
