Chapter I

After Virgil's death, Life had been pretty normal for the most part, the topic surrounding his death was a touchy one but for the most part, life was good.

Roman and Virgil still lived together and Logan and Patton had gotten a new house together. Their lives had gone back to the way it was before but one day Virgil had suddenly stopped showing himself around the others... in fact, he stopped showing at all.

Roman had grown more worried than the others had, sure he was a ghost but he was still his and Virgil wouldn't pick up and leave... right?

Logan was out for a walk to ease his nerves, Roman had really been irritant lately with his concerns about Virgil. Sure, he was worried... but if Virgil needed or wanted to see them he'd appear in the moment. He was dead and there was no reason to have the concerns of the real world mixed with the after-life.

Logan's thoughts were interrupted when a teen about his age had tripped and fallen in front of him, for a moment Logan had sworn that this kid's skin was black. No, not the racial color that is commonly found amongst people but a solid black much like his own glasses.

It was only for a second that he noticed this about the teen when it seemed as if the color had dissipated and returned to its original shade of what seemed to be a pale, almost paper-like white.

Logan tried not to think much of it as he went to help "Are you okay?" But the more he had examined him the more he noticed that there was something was off about the kid.

The back of his shirt had rips, but they were even and perplexed... as the kid stood he quietly thanked Logan, barely looking him in the eye.

His eyes...

One was a greyish black and the other was blue.. it was captivating how different they were, something about this boy had reminded Logan of Virgil which was the only reason Logan had said what he said: "Do you maybe want to come home with me- I mean I'm not trying anything I have a loving--"

"Sure."

Logan surely was not expecting that, he was expecting something along the lines of "You pervert" but his intent was solely out of purity. With that Logan began his walk back to the house.

The young man hadn't spoken much, with every question that Logan had asked it was either just a simple yes, no, or a groan. He was more like Virgil than expected...

When Logan had walked into the apartment he found there to be no Patton in sight. When this typically happens Logan just makes his presence apparent. "Pat, I'm home!"

Upon hearing Logan's voice, Patton had dashed down the stairs but stopped when he had seen him with another man. "Logie, who is your uh... friend?"

Logan took his shoes off by the door and had stepped into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. "He had fallen and I had brought him here to reassure of his health, I hope that is okay."

Patton examined the young man for a moment before quickly heading to the kitchen. "Why though.?"

Logan had gently held Patton's forearm to gain Patton's attention. "Listen to me, I don't know what Virgil was.. but I think he is one of them."

Patton cursed his eyebrow from confusion. "What do you mean?" In all their years of knowing Virgil, they had never come across anyone that was even remotely similar to Virgil which as you can see is Patton's prime reason for being a little baffled at the moment.

Logan had looked up to be sure that the young teen had not been listening to them before stating: "His skin was black-"

Before Logan could finish, Patton had jumped and slapped Logan "Logan! That is wrong! I am disappointed in you!"

Disappointment washed over Patton, it was like he didn't even know Logan anymore. All the times Patton had compelling conversations with Logan about equality, was it all just an act? Patton's mind was racing a million miles a minute.

Logan vigorously shook his head, his heart sank at the thought of Patton thinking of him as having such a hateful prospect on the topic of race. Logan shamefully and shyly rubbed his cheek as he tried to speak without a break in his voice. "N-No, Patton I-I...uh, That's not what I meant."

Patton's eyes had darkened as he looked over at Logan, his arms crossed over his chest. "Then what did you mean?"

The moment was silent, not a sound in the room as Patton waited for an explanation and though Logan had one... the way Patton had been staring at him he felt as if he didn't and that he had actually done something wrong.
