chapter 8

Fern flew over the island.

She wanted some alone time.

She had been so busy lately.

She sighed.

I never knew being the Queen was so hard to do alone.

And she just needed to collect her thoughts.

She flew down to land on the beach.

She sat down with the sound of the waves to calm her. She let out another sigh.

She was exhausted by all the work she needed to be doing.

She lay her head on the beach.

The sky had darkened.

She fell asleep.

She got up and shook the sand out of her scales.

And turned to walk into the forest to get back to the village.

She pushed through the forest.

Where she had landed had no path back to the village.

So now she was just hoping she wouldn't get her horns stuck in any vines while she used her ability to make a path through back to the village.

"There are simply too many vines in this forest" she grumbled.

"Why do there even need to be vines?" She questioned to no one in general.

And her horns got caught in the dumb vines.

She tried to pull them free but that only ended up in tangling them more.

She let out a very dramatic sounding sigh.

And she reached up with her front talons, which the markings on were glowing due to her using plant moving to try and get the vines untangled, and worked to get her horns free.

Eventually she got it getting the last vine untangled.

And she continued through the forest.

When she got back to the village she got called to deal with fight.

That one houses tree that it was wrapped around had broken into another's.

"Just use your ability to move the branch" Fern told them.

And she turned and walked off towards her house.

And walked inside.

She was frustrated by what she had to deal with before she got home.

"Lichen I miss you" she spoke softly.

She began to work at something to eat for her dinner.

Which she ended up just cutting up some fruit.

She ate the fruit.

Once she was done though she got up and walked to her room to see what the requests were.

'Cause she picked several up.

She had been helping out quite a bit.

She looked over each.

The first was a request to have easier paths to get around the forest.

She could do that but right now she wanted to rest she had a long day, which some of it was spent searching for her brother.

She walked out of her house rested to make the paths for her tribe.

She began to use her ability to move the plants and to make a path to the beach and through to other places.

Using her power so much was draining her energy.

She only had a small amount of energy for her ability before it started draining her energy.

"What in the islands of Plaera are you doing?" Someone asked from above.

She looked up to see a Rosewing with a four leafed clover on her head.

"Making paths so it's easier to move around the forest" Fern answered.

"Why?" The other Rosewing asked.

"Because I was requested to" Fern answered annoyance clear in her voice.

"I still don't get it".

"Does it even matter mis?" Fern asked.

"Cloverlily" the other Rosewing filled in.

"Why do you even need to to listen to a request?" Cloverlily asked.

"Because I know how annoying it is to struggle through the forest" Fern answered.

"But why do the other Rosewings need to come so far from the village. I made my home far away from the village to have peace and quiet and I've been bothered twice within a week" Cloverlily complained.

"Who bothered you before?" Fern asked.

"The prophecyr apprentice and his gang showed up a few days ago and bothered me" Cloverlily answered.

"Who's the prophecyrs apprentice?!" Fern asked.

"It's ShadowSeeker but I don't see why you care Prophecyrs only spit lies. Like his little gang is going to dethrone you as Queen of the Rosewings" Cloverlily responded.

"You know I'm the Queen?" Fern asked.

"Yes Fern I do. I more then anyone thinks I do" Cloverlily stated as she lifted her front right talon and looked at her claws.

Maybe Cloverlily could be a nice ally to help her keep her position as queen.

Cloverlily glanced back over at Fern.

"You are up to something. And you want me in it don't you?" Cloverlily asked.

"I was thinking that you could be a really nice ally" Fern responded.

"Oh so I'm popular with royalty aren't I?" Cloverlily commented.

"Would you help me stay a queen?" Fern asked.

"As long as you don't care I like a Cometflight I can help" Cloverlily responded.

"A Cometflight like Love?!" Fern asked.

If they had dragonets it would be the first hybrids in generations.

"Yes I have a girlfriend and I won't have hate" Cloverlily responded.

"No no I won't hate I'm happy for you honest" Fern told the misfit.

She may be a misfit but she was a smart dragon.

"What? You like hybrids?" Cloverlily asked.

"Yeah it has been generations since theirs been a hybrid on Plaera!" Fern exclaimed.

Her tail flicked back and forth excitedly. It was quite interesting hearing about possible hybrids on Plaera.

"But I can leave no official paths to your place.

But maybe we could have a secret underground tunnel" Fern suggested

"that's quite a nice idea" Cloverlily agreed.

"I don't have much energy left right now but maybe we can meet up again and get this idea planned out better" Fern suggested.

Cloverlily nodded "sounds like an plan".

"Well I'll see you tomorrow then" Fern replied.

She walked back to the village to get the rest of the suggestions sorted out.

Maybe she could deal with a few more before she took a nap.

More stuff for dragonets to do in town, she'd do that later.

She continued to flick through the requests deciding to do a few before she rested.

She felt a nip to her tail.

She spun around and saw Sapling.

"Hi Fer!" Sapling greeted her happily.

"Hey Sapling. Are you off alone today?" Fern asked.

"Yea secret mishion!" Sapling answered.

She widened her eyes in a fake surprise.

"A secret mission! To where?" Fern asked.

"Uh into the forest!" Sapling answered.

She saw Petal coming over.

"Why into the forest?" Fern asked.

"Two explor" the dragonet answered.

Petal sat down behind Sapling and curled her tail around him.

He looked around and saw his mother.

"I was on secre mishion" Sapling told his mother.

"And now it's your nap time" Petal informed him.

"No I not tired" Sapling argued.

"Oh too bad" Petal responded.

She scooped up the dragonet.

"Bye Fern I'll see you later" and Petal walked off.

She smiled.

The dragonet was silly and fun to talk to though she didn't see why Ash had let him onto the council Dragonets shouldn't have that kind of responsibility.

She walked off towards her house to get some rest now that she had gotten a few requests done.

She walked into her room.

She had a talon full of potted plants that had been gifts from Lichen on her hatching days.

Just an assortment of different kinds of plants in them.

She smiled.

It was his little excuse to get plants into her room.

She wished once again that Lichen was there.

She walked over to her bed.

Gale

She sat outside the cave watching the waves.

She sighed an old memory crossed her mind.

Her parents had died years ago though she could still remember the day.

Though she refused to let it cloud her mind.

She felt a wing over her shoulder and turned to see Robin beside her.

"Something wrong?" Robin asked.

"Just remembering a bad memory" Gale answered.

"Oh well I can sit with you for a while" Robin offered.

"That would be nice" Gale accepted.

They just ended up sitting in silence for a while.

PhasesStripe sat nearby.

ShadowSeeker had went out to collect some fruit for the group and Aquamarine and PermaFrost had went out to fish.

Evergreen sat close to them.

"So are you and Swoop like a thing?" Evergreen asked.

"What uh...not yet" Robin answered.

"Now what about you do you have anyone you like?" Robin asked Evergreen.

"Er I've been kinda liking PermaFrost" Evergreen answered.

"Princess Dash" PhasesStripe stated.

"What about you Gale?" Robin asked.

"Uh I've never really felt any sort of love for anyone" Gale answered.

"Oh-" Evergreen began.

"Are you aro ace?" PhasesStripe asked.

"What?" Gale asked.

"Like generally no feelings for others and not wanting to have dragonets and doing all the lovey-dovey stuff. That's as far as I can understand" PhasesStripe responded.

"Oh...yeah if that's what it means yeah I think I am" Gale answered.

"Oh uh that's...That's interesting" Evergreen commented.

Seafoam and Niea were playing closer to the waves and hadn't been paying attention to the four female dragons talking about their crushes or loves.

She watched the Aquakitty jump around after Niea.

"Hehe you know what I just realized?" Robin asked their small group.

"What?" PhasesStripe asked.

"The most of us love the royals" Robin answered.

PhasesStripe flicked her tail in front of her mouth as she snickered. "

Yeah that's true" Evergreen agreed.

She wasn't sure what to add to this conversation and she let her tail flick nervously.

She glanced out at the waves where the sun was setting.

It was beautiful, sunset was her favorite time of day.

She didn't really listen to the conversation anymore...until PhasesStripe and Evergreen began arguing.

"Take that back you straight tree!" PhasesStripe shouted as she tackled Evergreen.

"I didn't know it would offend you!" Evergreen yelped.

"Evergreen what did you say?" Gale asked.

"I was just suggesting that you could sleep further back in the cave with me and ShadowSeeker" Evergreen stated.

"That would be offending my tribe to lay with a dragon who proclaims that he can see the future" PhasesStripe stated.

"And I didn't know that was offensive to you." Evergreen stated.

"Stop arguing!" Robin yelled.

The Rosewing and Swiftclaw froze at the voice of the Featherscale caretaker.

"Sorry Robin" Evergreen apologized.

PermaFrost and Aquamarine landed in a heap.

Aquamarine on top.

"Get off me you annoying Tidestream! " PermaFrost yelled.

"Or what?" Aquamarine sang.

"Or I'll throw you forcefully into the ocean!" Permafrost answered in a yell.

"I'm a freaking Tidestream I cannot drowned" Aquamarine shot back.

Gale heard a very dramatic sigh from Robin.

"Seriously?".

She's just having a hard day isn't she?.

"Oh Robi what's wrong?" Aquamarine asked.

"First your not allowed to call me Robi, and second it's you arguing endlessly with PermaFrost" Robin answered.

"What?! We were getting along for the past few days! I was just trying to play around with him a bit today" Aquamarine yelped.

"And your arguing now" Robin stated.

Gale noticed Seafoam creeping up on Aquamarine from behind.

What is he up to?.

Then he nipped her tail and scampered away.

"What the?" Aquamarine spun around after Seafoam was already gone.

"That cat is pressing his luck" PhasesStripe commented.

The Swiftclaw seemed to have calmed down since her fight with Evergreen.

"Did you not catch anything?" Gale asked.

"Yeah we didn't catch anything" PermaFrost answered.

"Aww why not?" Gale asked.

PermaFrost pointed a claw at Aquamarine "her".

"So it's all Aqua's fault?" PhasesStripe asked.

"Yes she kept distracting me" Permafrost answered.

"I did not!" Aquamarine yelped.

"Oh yes you did. You were annoying me the entire time" PermaFrost stated and he stalked into the cave.

Though as he passed her Gale swore she heard him mutter "your just as bad as Crystal".

She was fairly sure that she could remember who Crystal was, though all the Winterhorn's looked so similar.

"What's wrong with just a bit of teasing?" Aquamarine asked.

"Well it can get frustrating after a while" Robin told Aquamarine.

She sighed.

This group argues so much it's crazy to think we are supposed to work together to save Plaera from certain doom
