It looked as tho Ash was coming out to see her

"Hello Fern" he greeted her

He was always so formal to everyone

"What do you need Ash?" She asked

"I wanted to teach you a bit about the tribes traditions" he answered

She already knew all her tribes traditions so why was she bothering her with it

He used his tail to signal her to follow him

She rolled her eyes but she decided to follow him

He led her to the Evertree?

"It's said in the history that Queen Lily and her mate both gave up there power to grow the Evertree since it took so much power from them. And now once a leaders rule is over they give most of there power to the Evertree to give it strength to survive and the leader of the council is in charge of that" Ash told her

"Who was her mate?" Fern asked

"The name is not said but its said that she was a healer" Ash answered

Okay that was something she hadn't heard before for the tribes history

"Interesting isn't it?" Ash asked her

She nodded

"Yeah it is"

I'm surprised there weren't many librarians or historians

"I just mostly wanted to teach you about this part of our tribes traditions" Ash told her

She nodded

As much as they had their disagreements he was still a good dragon

She walked off towards Mushroom's house

She knocked on the door. And she heard the answer from inside

"Come in"

She walked inside and looked around

Their was a nest on a crook of a branch in the tree that the house was built around, it was obviously Windrider slept

"I'm in my room" Mushroom called from down the hall

She walked down the hall and into the room

What did he have half the library in his room she wondered

"I stirred up more questions for myself that I'm trying to fugue out" Mushroom told her

There were scraps of paper he had been writing on all over the room

"So what's the biggest thing your wondering about" she asked

"If we were once a tribe that would be fighting the another. What stirred up that question is that I found battle reports and the dragons on them have Rosewing names and even come from the ancient history such as King Oak or Prince at that time" Mushroom answered

"That's quite a question" she replied

If they did who would they have had to be fighting?

She sat down on the opposite side of the pile of books and scrolls from Mushroom

"It must have been at lot of work to bring this much stuff up into your room. Plus don't you need to return these at some point?" She questioned

"It was hard to bring it all up but I manged and Forest says I can keep it for as long as I need it for" he answered

She noticed that most of the books he had didn't have anything for a title just there cover

She picked up a scroll near her and unrolled it

~dear Queen Cinder and King Charcoal~ I wish to have a meeting with with you and the other leaders discussing the current matters at claw Without our Dear King Soulstealer

That part looked like they must have been being sarcastic

Lily wrote this to some other leaders named Cinder and Charcoal that much was obvious

Mushroom popped his head over the stack

"Whatch ya find?" He asked

"A message from Queen Lily to some King and Queen named Cinder and Charcoal about a meeting without a King named Soulstealer" Fern answered

"But there aren't any tribes any of those names would fit in with" Mushroom replied

I wonder if there are more messages to the other tribes

She grabbed the book beside it to look in it

It was worn and the owner had obviously loved it quite a lot

She flipped to the first page

It was filled with sketches of dragons, mostly Rosewings and plants animals and places that had been important to the owner

"Forvest says recovered that around at the Tidestream island yet a Rosewing had owned it" he told her

"Interesting"

There was not a single part that said who had owned it

"This is a sketch book but it doesn't say who owned it" She informed him

"That's too bad" He replied

"But whoever owned it was quite talented" she added

"Here can I see it" Mushroom asked

"Here" she replied and handed him the sketch book

He flipped through the pages clearly interested in how good the sketches were

"This may just help me uncover more on the history of the Rosewings" he commented

"Because most of these plants I haven't ever seen on the island" he finished

He was so excited to figure out more about their history

Especially since there was always such a big smile spread across his face when he talked about what he was researching

"Tho if you don't return some soon you may be starting to build a maze out of these books" she warned him

"No I won't" he replied

She rolled her eyes

"Yes you well" she muttered

"don't roll your eyes at me" he growled

"I can roll my eyes at whoever I want" She argued

Then suddenly a small stack of books fell from the desk and thuded against Mushroom's side

She heard the claws of the creature scrape against the wood of the wall as it pulled itself out the open window knocking down pots of plants as it escaped. It must have been a Featherscale cause of how big it seemed

They had used there invisibility to spy on them

He got up and stood up the pots that didn't fall when they made their escape

His tail flicked from side to side

He was muttering something to himself

She flicked her tail in confusion

"Is everything alright Mushroom?" She asked

"Yeah...yeah it is" Mushroom answered

Was he planning something?

"Wanna help me do some research" he asked

She nodded

"Sure"

She took another book off the top of another stack, and she began to flip through it

She didn't find anything interesting in the book

It was just notes on what went on during King Leaf's rule not anything on for what they were looking for

She closed the book and set it aside and grabbed the next

Which was a scroll

Which was the most common way for messages being wrote on

She unrolled it

Dear Queen Lily~ I hear your looking for an island to stay I can offer you one tho I'd want you to join in on my side of the war for this island~ Queen Koi

"Looks like Koi had tried to get the Rosewings to allie with the Tidestream's in trade for an island" Fern commented

"Interesting"

He peered over her shoulder and at the messages

She handed it to him so he could read it himself

And grabbed a new book of a pile

And she began to flip through this one now

It was notes from old meetings the leaders had, such as Queen Tweet and Queen Lily discussing a possible alliance and a introduction between King Creepvine and King Slush but nothing too interesting. She set that book aside too and moved onto the next

This was a diary of a past Rosewing

And she read the last entry in the diary

Could it be possible to set up a alliance with the....

The writing of the tribes name was to smudged to make out

She looked through the diary to see if she could find out who owned it and eventually she did

Berry was just wrote down on the first page

"Hey I found something that may point us to who owned the sketch book" Mushroom told her

And he showed her a tiny bit of writing on the very last page

"So what would the L mean?" Fern asked

Mushroom shrugged

"I have no idea"

"Tho it's probably from the ancient history" she put in

"Yeah probably" he aggred

And they worked for a while looking for more answers to their questions

Until she had to go get other matters with the tribe done

She walked down from Mushroom's house and to find what needed to be done

Mushroom had so many books on the tribes history and it was interesting to see just how much she didn't know about it

It was also a fun time she got to spend with Mushroom

She loved him so much and she hoped he felt the same to her at least at some point

Tho plenty of the Rosewings around the village argued with what she said and most of them were Evergreen's friends which didn't make it surprising

She got to their requests board to see what dragons needed help with today

There was nothing today

I may just go and help Mushroom with his research again

She was having fun helping him out with his research

"Your back" he commented

"Yeah there was nothing that needed to be done today" she answered

"So you came back to help me more" Mushroom replied

"Well I couldn't just let you fugue out all the answers yourself" she shot back

He grinned

"That's true" he aggred

She grabbed another scroll and sat down

It was filled with failed cures to some venom and at the end it named that they didn't find the cure and the dragon died

She hoped they wouldn't have to deal with this venom again in these recent times, tho some of the names of the plants she didn't recognize such as a jeweled vine

"Hey maybe we could find a book on plants from the old place the Rosewings lived" Fern commented

"Yeah let's search for a book or scroll like that" Mushroom aggred

She looked at the books that have titles to see if she could find anything on plants

She didn't find a thing on plants. Eventually evening rolled around

"Hey if I go by and check if I can keep it could I take the sketch book to continue looking through it?" She asked him

"Sure" Mushroom answered

And she walked down to the library to ask forest about keeping the sketch book

"Hey Forest!" She greeted her

"What do you need Fern?" She asked

"I was helping Mushroom with some of his research and I was wondering if I could keep one of the books he got from you" She replied

"Sure...only really Mushroom comes to the library on a regular basis anyway" Forest answered

"Cool thanks for the book Forest" Fern thanked her

"Your welcome" Forest replied

She walked back out of the library flicking her tail to say bye to Forest

And she walked back to her home with her new book in claw

She sat down at her desk to take a closer look at some of the sketches to see if she could find more on who the owner was

She found a picture on a vine with flowers that looked like they were made of crystal

Was this the jeweled vine?

She had heard of a small island near her tribes island that held plants they didn't want to keep on the mane island due to being too dangerous for the islands ecosystem

Maybe I'll go look around that tomorrow she thought to herself

She flipped to one of the pictures of dragons

It was an adult dragon with a little dragonet

Was this the old owners mate and dragonet?

And on the other page there was a sketch of a female Rosewing sitting by a window and was looking over probably at who drew it

She closed the book and walked over to her bed to get some sleep

She landed down on the island. She was greeted by a pink and green Rosewing who looked kinda like a dragonfruit

And she had wood wrapped around her talons like armor

"I'm Dragonfruit the Plant guardian" she introduced herself

"I'm Fern" she replied

Dragonfruit caught her stareing at the wood wrapped around her front legs

"There a hard time of wood that is fire resistant so I can care for the fireweed" she explained

"Oh yeah cause no matter how dangerous no plants deserve to die" she added

"That's correct" Dragonfruit aggred

"Tho what brings you to this area?" Dragonfruit asked

"I just wanted to see what kind of plants were here" She answered

"Oh okay tho I may not be able to answer all your questions I only got half my training before my mentor Ginger died" Dragonfruit told her

"I...I was there when it happened" she told Dragonfruit

"Come on I'll show you some of the plants around here" Dragonfruit quickly changed the subject

She followed Dragonfruit to a small stone hallow

There was some time of weed that was moving quickly around the hallow

"You know what Fireweed is right?" Dragonfruit asked

Fern nodded to her question

"Yes I do" Fern answered

The flaming weed moved swiftly around glowing like a fire

"So you keep Fireweed in stone hallows so it doesn't burn any other plants correct?" Fern asked

She nodded

"Yeah that's correct" Dragonfruit answered

Dragonfruit led her across the island

She turned her head back

"Not all the plants here are dangerous like we've managed to Nightdawns" Dragonfruit told her

"I thought they only grew on the Cometflight's mountain" Fern replied

"Well we did mange to grow it"

Dragonfruit grinned

Was she the one who grew it?

She did seem pretty satisfied with the idea of it growing around on this island

She spent most of the day with Dragonfruit looking around the small island

She landed down in the village

She walked over to the task board to see if anyone needed any help today
