chapter 15
The sun glittered over the savanna of her home island.
She hadn't seen her best friend? Girlfriend? In a while and she was concerned about where she could be.
She had had went out each day after she disappeared.
Today she had made a discovery, PhasesStripe had went out with the dragons from other tribes that had been here.
So she's out with the other dragons that had been here.
But she doesn't strike me as someone who would just leave without saying goodbye so it can't be forever right.
She dipped her claw in a cup of water then dried it before shutting the book.
She often wrote about what had happened over the day.
Her sister poked her head into the room. "Hey how are you?."
"I'm good."
Her sister had been just seeming generally uncomfortable recently.
"How are you Flash?." Dash asked. Flash shrugged. "I'm fine."
She could tell from the tone of her sister's voice that she was indeed not fine and was struggling with something or another, her sister had always kinda struggled with something and she always tried her hardest to help her when she was.
"Flash I can tell something is bothering you what's up?" Dash asked her sister.
"I...I....I don't know there's something wrong but I don't know what." Flash responded.
Flash had walked all the way into the room and had shut the door behind her before she spoke.
She probably didn't want the tribe to know about the fact that she was struggling.
Flash walked over and rested her head on Dash's shoulder.
"Thank you for always being here for me sis." Flash thanked her, then she spoke in a far quieter tone. "I guess I just don't feel comfortable with who I am right now."
"I'll see if I can help you through this thing as well." Dash promised her sister.
I'll do anything to help her or any other dragon I care about. Dash promised herself.
"Anyway I was supposed to come tell you that mom and dad and me are going hunting if you want to join us." Flash told her.
"Sure I'll come."
The two sisters walked out of the room together and down the halls to where their parents were patiently waiting for them.
Leopard smiled warmly at his daughter's. "I see your both coming." His voice was a deeper tone to the other members of the family though he often spoke with kindness.
Acacia stared out at the savanna and she was pretty sure her mother was lost in thought.
Leopard twined his tail with his mates.
She glanced back and and saw the two of them there and smiled. "Ah your both coming."
Acacia was a more thoughtful Swiftclaw who deeply cared for her family and they'd have to tell her if they were going to spend a night out or else she'd spend the night wondering where they were and worrying about their safety.
"Let's head out now." He turned and began his way towards the entrance hall.
Their parents kept up the general look of royals around their tribe but acted more natural when the were alone with each other or their dragonets.
The palace was more of a hill the royals lived in, it had everything a "proper" palace should like a throne room and grand hall.
She liked home but often found herself laying under the stars when it came time to sleep instead of sleeping inside on her own bed PhasesStripe was similar to her in that way preferring to be outside rather then in.
The Swiftclaws had two separate thrones for the king or queen to sit apone out outside so they didn't have to be sitting inside the palace all day if dragons needed to speak with them unless of course it was raining, often if they could they would meet with officials from the other tribes at their outdoors throne room of sorts.
The halls of the palace were always brightly colored with flowers and assortment of colorful plants used as decoration, her parents had a whole thing about plants and made sure they kept the ones that lived in the palace alive and every dragon who lived there had to help keep the plants alive.
They passed nicely crafted pots filled with flowers of many colors, this was her favorite part of the palace all of the beautiful plants.
She enjoyed taking care of the ones she helped with.
They reached the entrance after a little bit, they door was hidden from the outside by vines that dragons walking in or out would have to pass through.
She walked through the entrance feeling the vines gently run across her back.
Now she stood in the warm sunlight of the savanna, the sun glittered onto the tall grass that grew over her home and acacia trees and rocks of varying sizes were doted about on the open fields areas where hills rose up out of the ground were obvious.
The rest of her family followed her out into the sunlight, she always enjoyed being the first out and just standing there soaking up the beauty of the land.
Leopard brought up the lead of the search for the prey they were going to hunt, the tribe made sure they wouldn't over hunt the other species that lived on the island with them with some going to the market island new foods occasionally.
They eventually found a heard of zebras catching one or two of them would feed the family and they could leave the rest of the heard to grow.
She slipped forward through the long grass toward an older zebra an easier target, the old mare munched at the grass unaware of the dragons in the taller grass around it.
Swiftclaws small size helped them hide away to stalk up on their prey and get through smaller gaps that some creatures hid in.
She flicked her tail once and leapt onto the back of the mare claws outstretched, the zebra struggled to get the Swiftclaw off before Dash reached the neck and clamped her jaws over it killing the zebra.
The heard had ran after the Swiftclaws had attacked.
She jumped off of her kill and dragged it towards where Flash and Leopard had caught a zebra of their own.
"Did you catch that zebra all by yourself?" Acacia asked. Dash let go of the zebra for a second to answer her mother. "Erm yeah I did."
"That's amazing and it's such a great kill too." Acacia praised Dash.
"Do you want to share it with me?." She offered her mother. "Sure of course."
Acacia settled in beside Dash next to the Zebra and the two ate together.
She raised her head and licked the zebra blood from her lips.
"Are you done?" Acacia asked. "Yeah I think I'm full." Dash responded.
They left what was still left on the bones out for the hyenas who would come by later after they left.
"We're going to be heading back to the palace you two may go do whatever you please." Leopard told his daughter's.
"Alright." Flash responded and Dash nodded in agreement.
Their parents turned and dashed off back to the palace to handle whatever royal duties they had for the day.
Flash turned her gaze on her sister. "Well what shall we do?" She asked.
"Hm I'm not sure." Dash responded. She stretched her wings letting the sun run across the membranes of the wings.
"Hmm....you know what why don't we hang out in the sun but somewhere away from here and the remains of these zebra 'cause you know they'll start to stink after being left out in the sun." Flash suggested.
"Sure and I definitely don't want to stay near any stinky zebra remains." Dash agreed with a snicker. The duo turned and dashed off to find somewhere nice to enjoy the great weather they had on the warm savanna today.
