chapter 13

He and PermaFrost were the only two currently together in the cave at the moment.

"So erm what do you think we should be doing about you know the Rosewings problems?" He asked.

Permafrost turned to look at him. "How would I know I'm not a Rosewing." Permafrost responded.

"I was just thinking maybe a dragon from another tribes point of view could potentially offer a good idea on how to deal with this problem." ShadowSeeker explained. "You know kinda like how the current Prophecyr isn't a dragon yet he can give advice on the problems of the tribes."

"Hm well why don't you come up with an idea your not a Rosewing either." PermaFrost suggested.

"Why don't you want to help though?" He asked.

"It could be as simple as thinking of an idea and suggesting it." Permafrost only stared at him. "Plus you did help out at a library you must be pretty smart." He added.

"Your taking the fact I just help out at a library as a fact that I'm smart. Does that mean that someone who helps out in a kitchen is a chef?" PermaFrost asked. He stood up and flared out his wings slightly.

"What no I just thought." ShadowSeeker yelped shifting back slightly from the clearly annoyed Winterhorn.

"Next time maybe you should think through your comments before you say them." he growled before he stalked off.

Why is he like this you can't even give him a compliment without him snapping at you. ShadowSeeker thought.

He moved from his sitting position to one more of laying. He laid in the shade of the cave entrance and watched the waves run along the shore.

PermaFrost had only really moved of the cave and right next to the water. Somewhere on the beach Seafoam was basking in the sun. And Niea was out in the forest after Evergreen informed her it was completely safe for humans.

The sun glittered across the sandy beach probably warming the sand to a temperature it would feel like it was burning hot to walk across.

I honestly kinda wonder if this is just an outer shell of a kind dragon that PermaFrost is actually a really kind dragon on the inside. He wondered to himself.

He stood up and walked to the back of the cave where the glowing mushrooms grew.

I wonder why the Rosewings gave up cultivating these their bio luminescent would make great lights at night.

He walked over and ran his claw across one of the mushrooms caps.

Maybe they found something that provides more light then these small mushrooms and that's why they abandoned the idea.

He glanced out at the beach through the cave the sun still shown brightly and it looked as though PermaFrost was out in the water.

He personally wasn't sure if this was like a normal Winterhorn thing he didn't really know much about Winterhorn's.

Most of the group slept back here well except for PhasesStripe who slept either at the mouth of the cave or just on the beach depending on the weather or her mood.

They had covered the floor in soft moss to lay on in the back of the cave.

PermaFrost had went out further into the water it looked as though it reached his underbelly.

He lay down on the comfortable moss bed and watched what was going on outside the cave.

His scales were not quite dark enough to blend into the cave walls in the dark and make him appear invisible.

When you were to come to the cave mouth you would be able to see a faint glow from the mushrooms and any dragons inside.

Gale was the only dragon who really blended in with the shadows but her wings mostly gave it away if she tried to hide with the glow from the lighting strike patterns. The glow wasn't to overly bright but just bright enough that it made it hard to hide in the dark.

PhasesStripe walked out and in front of the cave mouth she stared out at PermaFrost then shook her head and settled into her spot front of the cave mouth.

PhasesStripe seemed to act quite a bit like an actual cat though it sounded as though most Swiftclaws did.

She was probably settling down for a nap in the shade.

Though don't Swiftclaws get like their abilities from absorbing the sunlight or something like that?.

He couldn't help but feel like he just wanted to fall asleep on the moss bed. He shut his eyes and the next thing he knew he had Evergreen in front of him asking him if he wanted some dinner.

"Huh...yeah sure." He responded.

He got up stretched and followed Evergreen out of the cave and onto the beach.

I see Evergreen as more of a friend then anything.

He sat down between PermaFrost and Gale.

"Good evening did your enjoy your rest?" Gale asked.

"Yes I did it was very nice." ShadowSeeker answered. "Thanks for asking."

"That's good." Gale smiled.

The sun glittered along the waves causing them to glitter though the sun was setting towards the waves.

Evergreen passed some fruit around to the group giving them all something to eat.

They eat in a relative silence talking every now and then but mostly just leaving the noise to the animals in the nearby forest and the breeze that moved by gently.

This area was so peaceful it just felt like somewhere you could relax and enjoy the day. So there was a reason he stayed around the camp more often then not. The only way it wasn't relaxing is when they were arguing then shouts could be heard from around the campsite.

"So do we have any ideas on any potential ideas to stop Fern and maybe lead her into becoming a better kinder Queen?" ShadowSeeker asked.

"Her problem with misfits apparently started after one of them killed her parents." Aquamarine stated.

"Oh my really?" Evergreen asked.

"Yeah we met with her today and asked her about it and that's what we got from her." Gale added.

"You two did it together then?" Evergreen asked.

"Yeah we did." Aquamarine cast a glance at Gale.

"So what well we be doing now?" PermaFrost asked. His pale blue scales glittered in the sun beautifully.

"Maybe try and prove to Fern that us misfits aren't as bad as she thinks we are." Evergreen spoke slowly.

"We?." Permafrost asked. "Last time I checked I was not a Rosewing."

"Well the misfits like me Mushroom could definitely help with this idea too." She explained.

Niea was munching on a pear Evergreen grew to the right size for her Seafoam had a fish he was eating and Windrider was out somewhere by himself.

He was half certain that the human had accompanied them just so she could explore.

The sand under there talons was warm but not to overly hot just a nice temperature.

He watched the sun dip closer and closer to the waves.

The beach was soon cast in the glow from the sun as it was just about to sink bellow the sea.

He turned his head from the settling sun and back to the group who were chatting on about ideas for plans to possibly make Fern a better Queen.

Later in the evening.

He awoke to find Aquamarine not in the cave. He got up and walked out of the cave in a attempt to find where she had gone.

PhasesStripe was curled up on the beach. And a bit further off Aquamarine was sat on the beach a bit out of sight.

He walked over to her. "What are you up to?." He asked. She glanced over at him then nodded back at where she had been staring. "Turtles are hatching and I find it nice to watch them make their way to the water." She explained.

"Oh. You mind if I join you?." He asked. "Not at all." Aquamarine accepted his request to give her company.

They sat their side by side watching the little sea turtles make their way slowly to the waters edge before climbing into the waves.

"This is quite nice actually." He said quietly to not scare the last of the turtles that were making their way to the water.

"Yeah it really is." Aquamarine agreed.

They continued to sit there even after all of the turtles were out in the sea.
