chapter 6
I was once again practicing with my mentor who was the one to see that I would one day take his place. I have became quite close with the old snow leopard, ForgottenMist. My name is ShadowSeeker by the way.
"Now try again to look into a bright future" ForgottenMist said
I touched the crystal and once again fell into new visions.
A Featherscale named princess Owl was being called by what seemed to be her older brother who looked like an hawk. Then it was gone replaced by what looked like a duo of Rosewings playing together.
But then that one was also replaced by another this one seemed to be more fuzzy, ForgottenMist had said that was what distant future looked to be like, it was of a purple crystal like tail zipping out of his sight with others shouting and chasing after this mysterious dragon.
Then I was back in the prophecyr cave my claws no longer touching the crystal.
Anyone could see futures from the crystal but only the prophecyr could make them out properly, as much as creatures thought it was the future was not set in stone it was more like an river that flowed into many different streams that the world could be knocked into.
I wasn't quite sure I was really supposed to be the next Prophecyr since mine were always jumbled flashes.
"Well anything you could make out what was going on" ForgottenMist asked.
"I could make them all out but they were jumbled flashes like normal." I answer.
"Well what were they?" ForgottenMist asked.
"First was...well it was a princess of the Featherscale's being called by what I'm guessing was her brother then it was three dragonets playing they were one of those misfits Rosewings cause they had like a branch of a pine tree instead of a flower and they were playing with a another Rosewing and then the last vision was a purple crystal like dragon running from others...well I only saw there tail." I explain my visions to ForgottenMist
"Now I must ask you to look towards the closer future. To find who well be coming to visit us." ForgottenMist said.
"Um alright." I respond then I reach out and touch the crystal this time keeping the near future in my brain.
I see an vision of the cave my non vision body sets in come into view.
I see a Rosewing came in she had vines that seemed to grow off her head and she had a hawk perched on her wing and a human on her back next came in a TideStream with a Aquakitty on her back then at the last of the group another female dragon this one was a StormTalon.
I have only seen the humans once or twice, we tend to leave them be and in return they don't try to kill us.
"Uh hello I'm...." The vision faded before the Rosewing could say her name.
"So?" ForgottenMist asked.
"There are three dragons coming all from different tribes and they bring with them a Human a Hawk and a Aquakitty." I answer.
"But the dumb vision cut off before the Rosewing could say their name." I grumble.
"You'll find out her name soon enough." ForgottenMist told me.
ForgottenMist was always nice to me, he was patient he was kind and overall a great mentor for me even if I doubted I was really meant to be an prophecyr.
"How....how do you know the Rosewing is female?" I ask.
"I've already met her in a dream young one." ForgottenMist answered.
"Sometimes I wonder if I'm really going to be the next Prophecyr." I confess my doubts to him.
"Whatever guides the future most definitely wants you to be its next speaker." ForgottenMist states.
I hear claws clicking against the stone approaching them, it sounding like the quick and light steps of the princess.
"Do we have any obvious futures yet?" Nightshade asked. She walked in and leaned in the entryway
"We do see futures clearly but we prefer to not tell them so Princess." ForgottenMist replied.
"What about you what have you seen." Nightshade asked turning her cold thoughtful eyes on me.
"Jumbled visions nothing at all on our tribe for a long time now" I answer
"Snow Leopard are you Sure he is supposed to be the next Prophecyr because his visions sound a lot like how a normal dragon would claim to see them." Nightshade comments.
"I saw them like that when I started and the future has show five too many visions of young ShadowSeeker carrying on my work in many different futures." ForgottenMist answered.
I stood up as tall as I could be but Nightshade was still taller then me.
"Nightshade are you being rude to ForgottenMist again." Meteor asked. Meteor was Nightshades younger brother, he was considered blind though he still had an small bit of vision from what Meteor had said.
"She is." I answer with an sigh
She would constantly act like she was Queen of the world even though she wasn't, she was still a Princess for crying out loud
And not to mention the fact I had seen a vision of Meteor as King of our tribe.
"Nighty why do you argue with ForgottenMist so much?" Meteor asked.
"Because he acts like he rules around here when he doesn't he's just some stupid Snow Leopard who claims he sees the future to stay here and when he actually has a so called vision he makes a prophecy about it" Nightshade answered her wings flaring as she spoke.
"You...you don't believe in the prophecyr." I ask. She seemed so curious now she's saying she doesn't believe ForgottenMist? How does that make since?
"Yeah and he's got almost everyone who lives on the islands of Plaera under his little paws." Nightshade growled.
"I do not I tell what I see but you may choose to believe your own opinion." ForgottenMist states.
"Lies you tell everyone Lies and the Swiftclaws are right not to believe you." Nightshade growled.
"Nightshade he speaks the truth." Meteor insists. His head turning to stare his sister in the eyes.
"Soon well come a Rosewing a TideStream and a StormTalon with a human who speaks the tongue of dragon a hawk and a Aquakitty they shall come to See me and ShadowSeeker believe me or not it's what well happen in most futures. " ForgottenMist told Nightshade.
"Yeah you don't convince me I still don't believe it." Nightshade replied and stalked out of the cave giving her tail one last lash as she left.
"She wasn't wrong the Swiftclaws and humans don't believe in the words of prophecyr like me but hopefully differences can be put aside for a greater good." ForgottenMist replied.
"Swiftclaws don't believe in you?" Meteor asked.
"Indeed they don't." ForgottenMist nods.
Later
I finish today's training we have just been working on focus on my work when it was important where Meteor and his friend Orion would come in and try to distract me, well today it had worked.
ForgottenMist had told me that to see clearer visions I had to clear mind before starting.
I have been tasked to attempt to clear my mind every night before I go to bed.
I was heading to my house. I have been living alone despite my age because my family had moved to better accommodate their jobs so I was alone, ForgottenMist had offered to let me move in with him but I didn't want to leave my family home, I grew up here I don't want to leave it behind permanently, not now or ever.
I was the youngest member of my family with three older siblings one brother two sisters.
I walked into my room and flopped down onto my bed and began working at clearing my mind which was harder then I thought it would be the vision of the purple crystal dragon tugged at his brain, why were they running? Who was chasing them? Why were they being chased?
I awoke to the sound of claw steps in my house they were heavyer steps though the walked like an dragonet would, they came closer and closer to my room before taping against the wall. "Hello is there any Shadows in here that are awake and moving?" They asked.
It was my sister Galaxy, she came to see me, she often did make sure I was alright and treating myself right.
"Yeah cloudbrain I'm awake." I answer.
"Good I can't stay long but a came to see you" Galaxy smiled despite the insult.
"So what have you been up to these last few days I haven't got to see ya batbrain?" Galaxy asked as we walked out into the main area where only a few seats sat.
"Nothing much though ForgottenMist gave me a task that's harder then I thought it would be." I answer.
"What's this task?" Galaxy asked as she began to make them breakfast in the my kitchen.
"Clearing my mind of thoughts." I answer.
"Oh you actually think with that brain? What changed?" Galaxy asked.
"Uh Rude! But anyway I had a vision and my mind can't leave alone." I answer.
"On purpose like normal or did it just trip you in the head like any old rock?" Galaxy asked smirking now.
"On purpose but I saw purple crystal like dragon tail run from my view and dragons calling after them batbreath." I answered.
"Huh well that is pretty interesting ya overgrown salamander." Galaxy commented
"Anyway what's going on with you ya little snail?" I ask.
"Nothing much tough I think one of the other cooks has a crush on me and I think his name is Moon." Galaxy answered.
The way she talked about him made me think that it might be the other way around.
"Are you sure it's not the other way around batbreath?" I ask.
"Definitely not." Galaxy answered quickly. A little too quickly in my opinion.
I roll my eyes. Yes Gala it most definitely is the other way around.
"What was that eye roll for Starbrain?" Galaxy asked.
"You trying to cover up liking Moon and by the way your the over grown salamander. " I state.
"Okay you got one of those correct but I won't tell you witch" Galaxy responds.
"Thanks for being honest" I say my voice dripping with sarcasm.
She dished up pancakes for the two of us. We eat continuing to shoot insults back and forth.
"I've got to head out now mustn't be late for work bye Shadow" Galaxy walks over and instead of hugging me she gives an friendly smack on the head before walking out of the house.
"Bye Gala you slow snail!" I call after her.
I still had a few hours before my prophecyr lessons would start since ForgottenMist likes to sleep in.
I start to clean up my house a bit I am often busy with something else and I really don't like to do it, but it had to be done.
Did seeing heirs to the Featherscale throne out in the open mean the war was over at that point in the future or are those dragonets taking an large risk for an adventure. I had stopped cleaning to think. No! I need to focus on cleaning not pondering the future.
I got bored of clean and decided to go out for a walk.
Was it weird that I have never been out of the mountain since I was like three? I don't know if it is.
"Hey ShadowSeeker." Meteor greeted me.
He had Orion with him today
"Hey Meteor!" I reply
I don't really know Orion all too well just that she was another friend of Meteor and that he is some sort of inventor.
"So what are you up to?" Meteor askes.
"I was just out for a walk." I answer.
"I saw Galaxy down here do ya know her?" Orion askes his copper goggles sitting just above his eyes.
"Yeah that star-brain is my sister" I answered
"Oh I did not realize that...are ya close with her then?" Orion askes
"Yeah we're close." I answer.
"That's nice." Orion grins at me revealing the fact that his right front fang was missing.
"So have your parents said anything about getting involved in the FeatherStream war?" I ask Meteor.
"No did you have a vision about it. Is something bad going to happen?" Meteor replied his eyes glitter with an bit of worry.
"No nothing bad is going to happen, at least not that I know of I was just curious." I answer quickly.
"Oh good...you worried me for an second there." Meteor let out an small laugh.
"Sorry I didn't mean to worry you" I respond.
~•-<☆>-•~
I had decided I would go see my brother Dusk, I'm pretty sure I know where he currently lives so it's just for hoping he hasn't moved again.
Dusk should still live with Galaxy he did alot of work on all sorts of art. I was pretty sure he couldn't quite figure out what he wanted to do exactly.
I knock on their front door.
"Coming" Dusk called from inside
And a few moments later Dusk opened the door
"Hey what brings you here?" Dusk asked
"Just came for a visit." I answer.
Dusk was close to Galaxy but me and Dusk weren't the closest.
"Well do you want to try some knitting with me?" Dusk asked.
"Uh sure." I answer.
I follow Dusk inside.
Dusk and Galaxy's house was covered in art stuff that was scattered across the floor and a basket of yarn had been knocked over seeing as yarn balls were scattered around the room.
"How can you find anything in here?" I ask.
"I have to look for a little while but I find what I'm looking for...eventually." Dusk answered.
"Eventually maybe you should clean up." I suggest.
"Would you do it for me?" Dusk askes.
"I'm not cleaning up your mess." I answer.
"Oh but it would be so nice if you could clean it for me." Dusk replies.
"I answered, No." I repeat.
Dusk handed me some yarn to use and went back to his own work.
I tried to get anything that actually looked good but nothing I had tried to make had ended looking any good.
"Maybe just art in general isn't your thing." Dusk comments.
"I think I'm going head out bye Dusky" I say walking towards the door.
"I said no calling me that nickname" Dusk complained as I walked out.
Who cares if he doesn't like it its a good nickname.
I walk back through the tunnels towards the prophecyr cave
It still isn't time and I spent that time trying another one of my brothers art things...how many more dose he have that I haven't done?
My mind drifted back to my visions, I had managed to distract myself for a little while but now I'm out of things again.
I crash into someone else, I hadn't been paying attention to where I was going.
"Ah sorry didn't see you there." I apologize
"It's alright I'm fine." they replied.
"I'm ShadowSeeker you are?" I ask.
"Luna" she smiles and holds out an talon.
"It's nice to meet you Luna." I take her talon and shake
"Yeah you too." Luna agreed.
"So are you in a rush or something?" Luna asked.
"No just got alot on my mind" I answer.
"Oh is it about someone you love?" Luna asked.
"No just about a bit of school kinda stuff." I answer.
"Hm I don't think I've seen you in school." Luna observed.
"It's because it's an more private thing." I reply.
"Ah that's cool" Luna said.
"Yeah it just can be really difficult sometimes." I respond.
"So is What's on your mind a school thing?" Luna asked.
"Yeah kinda." I answer.
"Well I should probably let you get back to your school stuff." Luna replied.
"Actually it doesn't start for a while now." I reply.
Luna looked to only be a year older then me.
"Oh so your teacher lets you sleep in" Luna comments.
"Yeah he does." I respond.
"Hm so maybe we can meet in the mornings like this." Luna suggests
"I suppose maybe." I shrug.
"I would just love to have someone to talk to in the mornings but if you wouldn't be up to it I suppose I can find someone else." Luna sighs.
"No no I can come and talk with you." I offer.
"Cool." Luna smiles lifting her wings slightly.
"So what do you like to do." I ask.
"I have been quite enjoying making music as of recently." Luna answers.
"And take walks to find dragons to chat with." She adds.
"How 'bout you?" She asks. "What do you like to do?"
"I haven't really found any hobbies that have stuck but I do hang out with my friends and my sister Galaxy." I answers.
"I haven't been out of the mountain yet have you?" Luna asked.
"I haven't no I mostly focus on my school work." I answer.
"So that gives us something in common." Luna states.
"Yeah it does" he agrees.
Luna was a light purple with bright amber eyes that glowed orange in the sun stone light and she had magenta splotches on her and some indigo horns.
Well my scales were deep purple with deep blue splotches and magenta eyes.
"So what dose your sister do?" Luna asked.
"She cooks at an restaurant." I answered.
"Hm I've got one brother his name is Star" Luna replied.
"That's cool I've actually got three siblings two sisters and an brother." I say.
"Oh I would love to have more siblings but sadly my parents don't plan to have anymore." Luna comments.
"Honestly I'd be fine if it was like just Galaxy siblings are annoying" I respond.
Normal Cometflights have night themed names but I was different with my name being ShadowSeeker but there was nothing wrong with that was there?
Apparently I was supposed to be the first dragon prophecyr in ages was there anything wrong with that I didn't know.
"So your family do anything interesting?" Luna asked
"I don't think so my dad carves out new tunnels and my mother and other sister are healers and my brother does various art mediums." I answer.
Down in the area where I lived the tunnels were never crowded so they were the smallest but there were wider bits here and there. I had learned to navigate them quite well
My enteral clock noted that it was passed the time I should be down with ForgottenMist for my training. Wait oh great moon I hadn't realized how much time had pasted by I was late to my training.
"I need to head off just realized my class should have started twenty minutes ago" I say quickly.
"Oh alright bye" Luna replied.
I rush past her and off toward the prophecyr cave.
When I get there ForgottenMist was sitting waiting for me.
"Sorry I'm late-" I begin to apologize.
"Have fun before you fully become the prophecyr it well be sooner then you expect and not how you expect it." ForgottenMist interrupted.
"You've seen your own death in the future?!" I ask my wings flare out in surprise.
"Indeed and it's nothing to fear young one I am quite old and I'll be ready for it." ForgottenMist answers he gives me an small calm smile.
"But you well...." I start
"It well happen the same way in the dark futures or the bright ones you just need to pick the right one." ForgottenMist replied.
"So it well happen no matter what?" I ask.
"I am mortal am I not?" ForgottenMist comments.
I was sure how I felt about it. Sure I know ForgottenMist is old but I've never thought of him dying before.
I walk over the crystal I was going to look to see what happens for myself.
"You can't stop it even if you know what well happen" ForgottenMist spoke as though reading my mind
"Why I'm going to be here with you I can stop it." I replied
"You won't be here you'll be out stopping the FeatherStream war for me young one." ForgottenMist replies.
I shake my head and touched the crystal looking for ForgottenMist's death so I could prevent it.
