chapter 14

He paced back and forth in the cell he was kept in.

He needed to get back to his tribe they needed him.

He didn't want to throw the struggle of leadership over his brothers shoulders.

It just would be too early to have King Swoop if having him at all.

Just let me get out so I can get back to my tribe and take back my leadership so Swoop doesn't have to.

He just overall wanted his brother to have a good life with his the dragon he was clearly into without the struggles of piling the leadership of an tribe on top.

He huffed the metal bands that the Tidestream's had forced onto the imprisoned Featherscale's made them obvious while invisible.

He pulled at the band around his neck.

It didn't tighten or loosen the metal.

This thing is so annoying and I wish I could just get rid of it. He grumbled in his mind

One around the neck one on each leg and one on his tail.

The cell was pretty bland just stone walls floors and a roof with an single window and an door with an little hatch the Tidestream's could look through and an bracken and moss nest that he was pretty sure had never been changed out

He sighed and sat down in the cell.

"You alright?" Minnow asked.

"Yeah I'm fine" Crow responded.

"I just want to get back to my tribe" he added.

"I'm not sure I can relate to wanting to get home but I try with the Featherscale's who are here" Minnow responded.

"You and your sister are the two best Tidestream's I've met" he told her.

"Uh thanks now I've brought you some fish to eat" Minnow told him.

She closed the hatch to open the door to his cell to bring the food in.

A fierce blast of water struck the house they were in.

His wings were wrapped around his younger brother protecting him.

Tidestream's were attacking them and their parents told them to hide inside their home.

All they were hoping was that the Tidestream's didn't cause a cave in.

Swoop poked his small head out of under Crows wing.

"Are we going to be alright?" Swoop asked. His blind eyes shown with worry and his ears twitched listening for anything out of the ordinary.

"I don't know but I'll protect you no matter what" he answered.

His tail curled around his younger brother.

A Tidestream ran into the room they were in.

Crow leapt up standing in front of his brother.

"Your not getting at Prince Swoop" Crow growled.

He acted as though he was not a prince but was just the guardian of prince Swoop.

Crow ran forward at the Tidestream slashing his claws at the larger dragon.

The Tidestream attempted to use their tail to knock him out of the way.

Crow only grabbed their tail and bit down.

"You annoying dragonet" the Tidestream growled.

"Your not getting at Prince Swoop" Crow insisted.

"Just back off and you won't have to die little Featherscale" the Tidestream ordered.

"You realize he's not going to back off since he literally just promised to protect me no matter what" Swoop argued.

Before his brother dashed forward to attempt to join the fight.

"Swoop get out of here it's not safe" Crow growled as he slashed at the Tidestream's face.

"Well it's not exactly safe for you either" Swoop argued as he slashed at their wings.

After a while of the two dragonets attacking at the Tidestream they backed off and fled.

"Ha we just beat someone older then us" Swoop stated.

They had indeed just beat a Tidestream.

He jumped at his younger brother. "You are such a idiotic featherbrain" he growled.

"You shouldn't have joined in the fight" Crow lectured his brother.

"Well if I didn't join in and help you, you probably would have died in the fight" Swoop argued.

It was stupid how true Swoops words were.

He ate the fish that Minnow had brought for him.

He hadn't ever been sure who they had fought that day.

His wings would fold in ways him and his brother who sit together but it didn't look the best when he was alone.

He left the bones in the corner and went to his nest to potentially get some rest.

Since there really wasn't all that much to do in cell he was trapped in.

He could still move around the cell quite a bit. Though he was often bored.

He still found the chats he'd have with some of the Tidestream's who were here interesting but he didn't always get to do that.

Even staying in here he still kept his feathers clean since he wasn't going to suddenly stop taking care of himself.

His black feathers glittered in the small shafts of light that came through the window.

The feathers shown silver in the light.

He closed his eyes to attempt to get some sleep.

He awoke to a voice he recognized demanding that he got up.

He opened his eyes to see Queen Manta in his cell.

"What brings this nice royal meeting?" Crow asked.

"To discuss the surrender of your tribe to the Tidestream's" Manta answered her voice filled with annoyance.

"We both know I won't do that Manta" Crow replied.

"Even if it profit your tribe, your brother" she asked.

He glanced away. She knew his weaknesses.

He was pretty sure that Manta had spied on them since before they led their different tribes.

She was smarter then he personally was. It was hard trying to combat a dragon smarter then him.

"Well what do you say Crow well you be surrendering to me" Manta asked.

"Honestly I value my tribes lifes more then my own you seascaled monster" Crow growled

Manta looked offended. "I am not a seascaled monster" she growled.

He rolled his eyes. "You may know my weaknesses but I seem to know how to annoy you".

Manta glared at him before she stormed out of the cell.

He grinned. "Bye your highness".

He sat up and began cleaning his wings some with his claws and some with his peak.

Dragons knew not to mess with him in the mornings he never was in a good mood and would often insult who thought it was a good idea to wake him up in the mornings or just anyone who bothered him early in the morning.

Just easier to say he wasn't a morning dragon.

He got up stretched and circled the room a few times.

He was starting to feel just a little bit more social. So maybe he'd have a friendly chat with any Tidestreams who came by.

But he was pretty sure that Minnow wasn't going to be coming by since he was pretty sure that she was out with Aquamarine's squadron.

He waited for another dragon to show up for him to chat with

And luckily enough he had a light red a blue Tidestream to show up.

"Hi Crow" they greeted him.

"Hello who might you be?" Crow asked.

"I'm Salmon I use she they pronouns" Salmon introduced herself.

"It's nice to meet you I personally use he him pronouns" Crow responded.

"That's cool" Salmon replied.

She shut the hatch and opened the door to walk in to have an easier time talking with him.

She sat down opposite from him though close to door to make sure he wouldn't run and get out.

"So what's it like leading a tribe?" Salmon asked.

"Um I'm not really sure how to explain it but it's pretty hard" Crow answered.

"Oh I see" Salmon replied.
