Jinx quickly threw on a dark colored dress and stepped back to admire herself in her mirror. She was surprised to see how much her body had changed during the past few months. Having come to Hogwarts skinnier than a twig, Jinx had gained all of her weight back and looked much healthier now.

Outside, Draco stood in wait with his arms crossed over his chest. When he heard the girl's dorm room door open, he whipped his head around. At the sight of Jinx he almost choked on his own breath. He'd never seen her in anything but the gloomy school uniforms. But seeing her now, in such a beautiful and new attire, Jinx looked like a whole different person.

Jinx walked slowly to where Draco stood, their eyes never leaving each other. There was something that just felt so right about the direction she walked, straight toward Draco. "You clean up nicely," the blonde boy complimented. Then he added in a softer, almost shy, tone, "you look beautiful."

Jinx's heart fluttered, something that hadn't happened in decades. She followed Draco as he took lead out of the common room holding onto her hand as he went. The halls were completely dark making it impossible for Jinx to see, yet somehow Draco knew exactly where he was. "Where are we going?" She asked in a whisper.

She felt a gentle squeeze on her hand as Draco whispered back, "it's a surprise."

Jinx couldn't help but smile to herself. Although she couldn't see, she trusted Draco to lead her well. And once finally came to a halt, there was no noise other than their own steady breathing. Jinx couldn't see, but she could easily guess where they were. The air was still, carrying the scents of dust and mildew. There was a distant, tiny sound of water dripping from some sort of leak. They were obviously in an abandoned corridor, a hall that hadn't been touched in ages.

Then suddenly, a door opened.

Immediately, the hallway they were in was flooded with moonlight and Jinx could finally see Draco standing with a door open, waiting for her to come out with him. So she took careful steps toward him, and toward the night sky.

Back in the boys dorm of Gryffindor, Harry sat on the edges of his bed across from his curious best friend. He scanned page after page for a few minutes, leading to Ron's impatient interruption, "well? What does it say?"

Harry didn't lift his gaze as he answered, "they went to school together, here." He paused to flip another page. "Jinx trusted him enough to let him in on her secret," Harry continued, "he was in love with her.."

Ron was shocked by the information he was hearing, but before he could say anything, Harry spoke up yet again. He began to recite a piece of Newt's writing.

"'Today, Jinx told me of her ancestors. Apparently, her kind wasn't just..there, like everything else. The first Creature was a witch, no older than us, named Adalini Survel. It's quite a heartbreaking story, really; Adalini was unable to love herself, and therefore changed her appearance often with magic. But the overuse of magic she used on herself caused her to morph into something new. Adalini was cursed with immortality until true happiness could find her. Then, the curse would break and she would finally age, but never again be fully human'."

"..Woah," was all Ron could manage.

"Well," Harry began, "that explains how she can use magic like any ordinary witch." He then flipped a few more pages before speaking again, "apparently he was her only friend."

Ron scrunched his eyes brows together and wondered, "it says that?"

Harry than cleared his throat and recited, "'over the past few weeks, I've come to notice that Jinx talks to no one but myself. It's a shame; she could be very popular if she gave people a chance'."

"What?" Ron sounded bewildered, "are you sure this is the right 'Jinx'? I mean, the Jinx we know is friends with everybody."

Harry sighed and teased his friend, "Ron, I doubt Newt knew two Creatures that were the exact same age, and both named Jinx."

Ron scowled at his friend for a moment before observing, "she must've changed a lot; I wonder what happened?"

Harry thought on Ron's question for a while longer as he flipped page after wrinkled page of the ancient diary. What could've possibly happened to make Jinx into the person she was that day?

Cool night air danced across Jinx's skin as she entered the outside world with Draco. The musty smells of the uncleanrd corridor faded into pleasant, autumn breeze. She couldn't help letting a gasp escape her throat as a scene unfolded before her. It was as if she'd walked straight into the night sky; stars surrounded her and Draco, the light of the almost full moon illuminating ever detail.

"I thought you might like it," Draco spoke knowingly.

Jinx, who'd almost forgotten that he was even there, turned and looked up at him. She could see the moon in his calm, silver eyes. His skin seemed to take in the dim light from above and shine with a soft glow itself.

However, when Draco looked at Jinx, she seemed to reflect the light, rather than glow. The thought occurred to him, that she looked much like a star. Although she was special, for she would be his star; Jinx would always be there in his darkest times, he knew. And when she turned away from him to stare up at the galaxy once again, he found that his eyes only wanted to rest on her.

Draco took a step closer to Jinx and wrapped his arms around her from behind. He felt her own delicate hands rest over top his. "Where are we?" She asked.

"The highest peek of the castle," Draco responded.

Jinx found herself looking down. There was nothing but black. It was as if a carpet of night had been laid down around them. If she stepped forward, would she fall or would the black carpet carry her on? All that seemed to exist was the small brick peek, and the door in which they had used to leave Hogwarts.

And each other, of course.
