WARNING: This will have (minor) spoilers for season 4.

Everyone's the main character of their own story? Dan Wheeler called bullshit. Some people are the main character of everyone else's stories. And they were suspecting the entire town of Hawkins, Indiana, was in the second category. That had be the only explanation for why their lives ran like a sitcoms way, way past it's prime. Dan wouldn't say they preferred a horror movie. They'd just strongly imply it.

As with any good story, Dan promptly learned a lesson — be careful what you wish for. On the night of November 6th, 1983, their brother's friend goes missing, and the their lives turn into a creature feature. Which, turns out, isn't as cool as Dan Wheeler thought. Still pretty cool...just much more dangerous.

Rules

001 — Applying

Applications will be closed July 8th. I chose this because it's exactly a week after season 4 volume 2 comes out. This is because, one, I feel like it hits the point where there will once again be a lot of Stranger Things excitement. It also gives a little time for anyone who really wants to watch volume 2 before they apply.

UPDATE: Due date has been move to July 2nd.

I, to be honest, do not know how many applications I will choose. Normally I would say around 5 or so, but it's hard to decide how that will be spread throughout the seasons when I don't know what applications I have. So how many characters I will choose will pretty much be chosen when it closes, though it probably won't be more than 8 applications between all seasons.

You can apply multiple times. I would just prefer that, if you do, that you diversified a bit. I'm going to need applications for both the kids and teen group for all seasons. So I would prefer if people apply with something like 1 season 1 teen, 1 season 2 kid & 1 season 3 teen instead of 3 season 1 teens.

002 — Test Subjects & Canon Related Applications

You can apply with both! However, keep in mind I'll probably only pick one test subject total. Especially if you're wanting them to have escaped with El. It's just not a plot you can fit a bunch of characters into.

So far the taken numbers are: 001, 002, 008, and 011.

And I know technically they've casted up to 018 but...well, that means they've confirmed there are up to 18 test subjects. One, Two, Eight, and Eleven have some importance/emphasis placed on their numbers, but pretty much all the others can be replaced with one of the other 18.

As for the canon related characters, obviously they're not banned. Dan is literally Mike's twin. Just remember that others might be doing the same. By some wild chance, you might even end up with an extra sibling (I don't plan to do that, but luck can be like that sometimes.)

003 — Diversity

Listen, I know this takes place in the early to mid 80s (1983 1986.) But America wasn't 100% cishet able-bodied white people until the 2000s, and let's be real, the way the show addresses diversity/bigotry is already a bit off (it seems bigotry only exists when it can be used for the plot, and is then instantly forgotten.)

Hopefully the fact that I'm not requiring faceclaims helps with that some. I know sometimes, especially when it comes to things outside of race or sexuality, people have trouble making character diverse because they can't find a faceclaim that matches what they want to do.

004 — Love Interests

I will be allowing love interests. Just keep in mind that the entire point of the story is not romance. Especially because I don't want people who don't have a love interest to feel like their characters are being neglected in order to make romance happen.

There's only a few rules I have on this:

1. I'll only be accepting female love interests for Robin and male love interests for Will.

2. I'm not inherently banning Billy as a love interest, but I'm also not going to pretend he's not a racist abuser for the sake of romance, so the relationship will probably end up toxic.

Do not "but" me on either these, or I swear, I will kick yours.

005 — Dying

As you know, not many of the teens, and none of the kids, have died. I don't plan to kill any of your characters off because...I just hate killing off characters for no reason.

However, since I cannot promise it will never happen, I just want to warn you.

006 — Fun!

This is all for fun. Don't be a jerk, either to people who get in or don't, or to me. The story gets serious at some points, but that doesn't mean we all have to be jerks to each other.

FULL NAME —

NICKNAMES —
(You can also include who uses it/how it was made/what the character thinks of them)

PREFERRED NAME —

AGE —
(Kids are 12 in season 1 to 15 in season 4, teens are 15/16 in season 1 to 18/19 in season 4. I know the wiki says Nancy & Jonathan are 16 in season 1 and 19 in season 4, but if that was the case they wouldn't be in their senior year in season 4. Nor would it be "the year after he graduated" if Steve was 20.)

BIRTHDAY —
(In case it can be used for any of the seasons)

GENDER & PRONOUNS —

SEXUALITY —
(For both this and gender, if not cishet, include if they are out, and if not, when/if you want them to come out during the story)

SEASON OF INTRODUCTION —
(Season 1, 2, 3, 4. Probably not 5, since I feel like that's too late to really let your character shine. They can also appear in an early season, before actually becoming involved in a later one, sort of like how Erica appeared in season 2 before actually being part of season 3.)

APPEARANCE —
(Doesn't have to be super detailed, since I know describing appearances can be awkward for some. Honestly if you can just manage the bare minimum of hair/skin/eye color & fashion senses, along with any changes throughout the seasons, that'd really be awesome.)

PERSONALITY —
(Please be detailed! And make sure to have some flaws. It gives something to explore.)

MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE —

INTERESTS —
(Likes & Hobbies)

DISLIKES —

FEARS —

*POWERS —
(If character is a test subject)

GENERAL BACKSTORY —
(Some lead up to their current situation, and some information on where they are in life at the moment.)

FAMILY —
(Please at least give names and some detail on your character's relationship with them! That way I can use them in plots if I want.)

LOVE INTEREST IDEAS —
(Top 3 ideas + relationship ideas for each. Or just N/A if you don't want one. You can also choose for an OC love interest, then pick one that works best when the cast comes out.)

*CONNECTION TO PLOT —
(If they have some connection beyond being friends with canon characters. Like a family member working in the lab, or someone they know getting taken by the Upside Down/Flayed/Vecna'd. Something I can play with to give them a little more of an interesting plot.

*PLOT IDEAS —
(Basically if there is anything you really want to see happen with your character, and wrote the character with in mind. For example, if you really wanted the character to be in the Scoops Troop, and they work best that way. Or a test subject that you want to join El's arc in season 2. So I get the best understanding of the character.)

EXTRA —
(Anything you think should be added)

My Character

"And here you will see a heard of Nerdus Gigantus in their natural habitat."

Dan "Danny" Wheeler — Season 1

~ 12 years old ~ Trans Male ~ They/Them (Season 1-2) He/Him (Season 3+) ~

If you asked Dan, one day they'll be a world famous film maker. If you ask anyone else they're obnoxious and really need to stop sticking cameras in everyone's faces. Genre savvy enough to realize they might actually be in a horror movie unfortunately they're twelve, and as such has been banned from watching most horror movies.
