Character Sketch
Bell flipped the sign on the door to closed and let out a quiet breath. The day had been busier than usual and the only worker she had was away on maternity leave, so Bell hadn't gotten any breaks. She eyed the window for a moment, tugging at her hair and biting her lip before letting out another sigh and grabbing her stepping ladder. She dragged it over to the shelf, standing on her toes as she reached for a help wanted sign. Bell held it tightly as she stepped down again, heading to the window and moving a couple flowers out of the way, placing the sign against the glass. She moved around the store, tidying the flowers and sweeping the floors, before heading to the back and pulling on her black wool coat. She tugged at her hair again, her nervous brown eyes sweeping across the store as she walked to the door. The bell jingled quietly as she walked out, and a small smile crossed her face as she relaxed slightly.
Bell buried her nose in her coat and squinted her eyes against the wind, nodding a silent hello to the people who passed her by. Satburry was too large a town to know everybody, but Bell Spencer was well acquainted with more than a fair share. She watched the leaves as she walked and admired their colours as they danced. Her boots were quiet on the pavement, and she rubbed at the little moon tattooed on the inside of her wrist. Her hand reached up to tug at her hair again as she passed her childhood home, the old blue house now falling apart. She paused in front of it, staring up at the highest window, her dark brown hair curled between her fingers as she fell deep into thought.
