Why some plants die in the fall and come back in the spring.
I really like this one personally. Normally I don't edit this stuff, but this one contains my first name, middle initial, and last name, so I'm going to have to take that out. That's all I'm going to do.
Why Some Plants Die in the Fall and Come Back to Life in the Spring
There was once a time when all plants died in the autumn except for the evergreens. Oak trees would never get big, and there were fewer plants, and animals often starved in the cold, harsh winter. There was one bird, the Phoenix, who was a bird colored scarlet and gold, orange and amber, in other words, she was the color of fire. Every few centuries or so, when she was about to die, she would build a new nest of fragrant wood, and burn herself to ashes. Then, she would rise from the ashes as young as a fully-fledged bird, yet even she was not invulnerable to the formidable months of winter{damn I sound like a professor right there.}. One warm summer day, she thought to herself, 'If only some of the plants would come back to life every year after winter ended, then maybe the animals wouldn't starve in the formidable months of winter' {*facepalms at what she wrote* yeah this sorta sucked.}so she decided to give up some of her ability to rise from the ashes. Unlike all of the others of her kind, she had true immortality, she could never die, so she debated giving up her immortality, as she debated, her feathers became the most beautiful of all the birds in the world. She decided to give up her ability to be reborn since she didn't need it anyway. She decided to experiment on an oak sapling. Every day she gave up the tiniest piece of rebirth. When autumn came, the young oak's leaves turned different colors, red and orange and even yellow. The leaves fell off the little tree and provided a bit of food to the animals on the forest floor. All winter long, the tree remained leafless. Then one day, a little bit after spring had started, the Phoenix saw a tiny bit of green on one of the branches, and a closer look revealed that it was a leaf! Her plan had worked! The Phoenix flew up over the forest singing joyously. She decided to make that little oak her home when it grew up. She gave up more rebirth to different bushes, trees, and flowers. Before she knew it, she had given up all of her rebirth, but she had run out of rebirth before she could do all of the plants. When she went back to her oak she found that it had formed a hollow just right for her size. She has lived in that oak ever since, yet because it was the first plant she had given rebirth to, it was immortal like the Phoenix who lives there to this day. As for the Phoenix, she had one daughter who was immortal like her and continued her mother's work. The Phoenix's name was Scarlet, and she stays near her sacred oak tree, taking care of it forever. Her daughter, named Ruby, however, has never had any children of her own, for she prefers to be a free spirit, roaming the world and helping to keep peace between all of the animals.
Sucky ending right there. Sorta like "and they all lived happily ever after" seriously.
