Fairy Dance

‘You’re amazing you know that?’

She blushed.

‘Will I see you again?’

‘Of course you’ll see me again. I have your number, you have mine’ she said.

‘So you’ll text me?’ he asked.

‘Promise’ she replied.

They sealed it with a kiss.

‘I didn’t think you’d text me’.

‘Well I did’.

‘You want to meet up?’

‘Sure’.

They went on talking about where to meet and what to do, it was the first of many encounters.

‘I love spending time with you’ he said.

‘You make me very happy’ she replied.

Still he had not asked her officially, she brushed it off like it didn’t matter, but it mattered.

‘So what are we?’ she asked.

‘What do you mean?’ he replied.

‘Are we dating? Seeing each other? Having fun?’ she asked.

‘I thought we were just friends’ he said.

‘Oh’ she replied, her mind whispered; don’t let him see you upset.

She cursed herself that all people said was true, she’d tried to drag it out as long as possible, to ignore the signs she saw but it was all there, starring at her plainly for her to see. He didn’t want her anymore, now that he’d gotten what he came for. She still tried to talk to him though, and he replied.

Sometimes he even drunk texted her.

‘Whatcha doing?’ he texted.

‘Nothing’ she replied.

‘Come see me?’ he said.

‘Are you drunk?’ she asked.

‘Maybe?’ he replied.

‘Why are you texting me?’

‘There are no girls here worth my time’ he said.

She received a flurry of hope, ‘So you thought of me’.

‘I knew you’d say yes to anything I said, you’re so desperate’ he replied.

That hurt, she was glad this was only via text and he could not see how much it had hurt her.

It was only text after all, it could be ended quickly despite the pain he’d currently put her through.

‘Sod off’ she responded.

Her text was met with silence and for once she wasn’t disappointed.
