Chapter - 25
They got stilled to see someone in their home, with bags.
It's Reehan.
Rizwan's parents are talking with him when they entered home.
Reehan saw them at the door at waved with a small smile. His smile vanished when he looked their entwined hands. Aaeesha followed the direction of his eyes and realized they were still holding hands. She disentangle her arm and moved to Rizwan's parents and took their blessings. They asked the how abouts of Aaeesha's parents. She answered all questions but her eyes are wandering on the bags and Reehan. Rizwan's mother understand her contemplation and said,
"Reehan will be staying here for two weeks. He has some internship work in the nearby place. He insisted staying in a hotel but how can we allow our family person to suffer outside when we are nearby. He is also like my son you know! "
'But he doesn't like your son you know'
Aaeesha clearly remembered the hatred Reehan has for him on the day he left. She doesn't think it's meaningless because it's natural to feel that way when your friend got hurt.
Friend? Only friend? He has feelings for you. He loves you.
Aaeesha's mind was filled with mixed thoughts. She doesn't want to think about anything. She doesn't want to go there where she has to analyze her feelings and explore her relationship. Because she know it's hard. It's complicated. She wants a simple life. A simple life where she doesn't have to face the awkwardness she's facing right now.
She slowly raised her head. Rizwan and Reehan sat in the front sofa and are looking at her. Quickly she averted her head. She doesn't want to sit there anymore. She told her mother-in-law that she want to get fresh up and went to her room upstairs. While thousand freaking thoughts created anxiety, she took a shower for an hour to relieve it.
In the downstairs, the situation is not any better. The cousins who are fascinated about each other until a few months earlier are feeling weird to talk to each other.
Rizwan never felt this much urge to ask Aaeesha about her relationship with Reehan as now. He felt so insecure since the moment she left his hand on seeing Reehan. He doesn't want to act irrational but his feelings are not helping him much. For the first time he felt his mother is overly generous.
On the other side, Reehan was still doubting his plan of staying there, that too after seeing the bonding between Rizwan and Aaeesha. He wants his love to get success but not at the cost of someone's tears. He has to think about it again. Just one more time, if he witnessed anything that will hurt Aaeesha, during his stay, he won't back out.
Let's see what the destiny has in its bag for them.
It's the dinner that brought all the people in one place. Aaeesha helped her mother-in-law in arranging the table. After everyone settled on the long Teak made dining chairs, Aaeesha remembered she forgot to bring the pickle, her mother sent, especially for her sweet son-in-law.
She's about to get up to bring the pickle, Rizwan interfered, by grasping her hand.
He whispered, "Are you going to bring any sweet today too?"
Aaeesha's eyes narrowed, brows came closure, lips got thinned.
"No pickle." she muttered.
"Don't bring it if it's prepared by you, my parents are already patients." he is adding fuel by mocking her.
She kicked his leg with frustration. Not expecting that, he yelped. His parents looked at them in disbelief.
"Not at the dining table." his mother said it a meaning hanging between her innocence and boldness.
Reehan is seeing all this in displeasure. It's like he is bargaining for pain.
Rizwan's mother asked Reehan to stay in the guest room downstairs. Rizwan was thankful to his mother. She didn't threaten his relationship at least this time, he thought.
Reehan wanted, first to talk to Aaeesha personally to clear out the misunderstandings and fill up the gap, created because of her sudden marriage. While he is in his own world, Silly called him.
"Bro, is it true that you are staying in Aaeesha's home?"
"It's not just Aaeesha's home. It's our aunt and uncle's home too."
"It's not about the house, it's about you staying there. I just talked to Aaeesha, she is in good terms with her husband now. Don't create any there..."
Not letting her complete, he said,
"What did Aaeesha said? That I shouldn't stay here? " He's already upset mind made him think worse.
"It's aunt that informed us about your stay. I called Aaeesha to ask how she's doing there. She didn't say anything bad you. In fact she's worried about you. How do you even think that Aaeesha say something like that. It's you who's mind wavers when something challenges you. Instead of fighting, you run away. Now it's not time for you to shout-out your love. We are friends first. Repair that bond."
His negativity is slowly getting neutralized. He said with a chuckle.
"Are you my sister or hers"
"Hello! She's my friend. She comes first to me because she's there for us, always. If I remember correctly, you also used to say the same. "
He hummed sadly remembering those days.
"Okay it's late. You know how mom doesn't like talking in phone late hours. I have to hang up before she starts shouting. How I wish I was there. " I can picture her pout in my mind.
"You too come here, aunt won't mind." I chuckled.
"Haha funny. Aaeesha already invited me to come over this weekend."
"You both are too fats, like always. "
"Yes, like always. Ok bro, bye. Good night. "
"Good night. "
He stared at his phone for some time thinking about what Silly said. He came to a conclusion and then slept. What it is, only he knows.
Upstairs
After coming from dinner, Aaeesha checked her phone to find a missed call from Silly. She immediately called back because she's also needed her friend to talk out her situation. After just two rings, Silly answered.
"Has my brother created any ruckus there? " Silly jumped into the topic directly.
"Hello to you too. No he didn't created anything, which is very unlike of him. We didn't even talked, you know. "
"Ohh! That's a relief. You both need to get back together as best friends. I'm dying here with tension and frustration. "
"Hey Silly, cool buddy. We will set the things straight soon. Don't worry much about me. "
"How can I not worry? My friend there struck in some circumstantial marriage, living with a family whom she finds weird from childhood, following all typical wifey duties to a husband who wouldn't stand-up for his wife, that too, with one friend having beef with her. I wish I could find some solution to this. "
Aaeesha giggled hearing her friend ranting and felt content to have such a caring friend.
"It's okay yaar. Things are not that bad. I'm slowly coming in terms with my situations and people around me. This family is weird but not that weird, I mean I'm okay with them. And about Rizwan, he came to my house yesterday and said sorry. Sincerely apologized. I... I like him. Which is what I'm feeling difficult to accept it. Reehan's presence here is messing with my mind. They both are different people and I feel differently for them. I don't want to anyone of them. I don't know what to do now." Aaeesha couldn't say anymore. Her mouth felt parched. She felt constricting in her throat.
"When did you become this soft, ha? I can clearly see some changes in all three of you. Feelings definitely change people. I don't want to fall in love anymore. "
"Heyy! I'm not in love." Aaeesha tried object. It's vain.
"Whatever, I too don't want any of you to feel hurt, so sort out your feelings as early as possible. But if you want my advice, don't do anything impulsive. Now that you are married, things won't be that simple for me, to save you, like always."
"Yeah, like always. I promise I won't be messed up..." Aaeesha continued winking, though it's not visible to Silly, "...so much that you couldn't save me. But, even if it's not for clearing out my mess, why don't you come here this weekend, we can have fun. Aunt and uncle are going to their relatives home for three days. Great deal right!? "
"Good deal, I will come. We have to enjoy so much that should balance all these missing days."
"Yup, and... " Aaeesha couldn't complete as she heard knock on the door.
" I think Rizwan came, will catch up tomorrow, bye. " Aaeesha said in a hurry.
"Ohhho... Bye. " Silly teased.
Aaeesha hung up her phone and paced fastly towards the door.
