💍Prologue💍

London, 2XXX

Little Espio the Chameleon slumped to the nearest seat in the hotel lobby, drained and soaked from the thirteen hour flight from Tokyo, the train ride from the airport, and trudging through the rain for nine blocks. His cousin Rouge the Bat giggled next to him and cleaned her boots from the mud on the ornate floor.

Constant Vigil walked up to the front desk to check in with her friend Rich Nights watching over the two kids. She stopped at the front desk and the two clerks eyed her but didn't say anything as she spoke up.

"I'm Constant Vigil. I have a reservation for the Lancaster Suite. We spoke on the phone to confirm yesterday."

The Mobian workers shared looks almost immediately and the man working on the computer claimed, while checking it.

"Sorry, don't seem to have your reservation."

That was a lie as Espio could see it and had never feel so offended based on racism. But he bit back the smirk because not only were they racist, but they have no idea nor recognizing his mother as the Bride of Shinobi Clan.

It didn't help for the fact that Constant Vigil is wearing regular clothes and without jewelries for the first time and showed only four of her horns. Just then, the Mobian pig walked out of the back office as he looked at the workers almost telepathy before finally turning to the guests.

"Good evening, I'm Hamlin the Pig, hotel manager. Is there a problem?"

Constant Vigil calmly explained.

"I'm Constant Vigil. My family and I would like to be shown to our suite. We've had a long flight."

Hamlin looked to the group and made a quick decision.

"We're fully booked, ma'am. You must have made a mistake. I'm sure you and your lovely family can find other accomodations. May I suggest you explore Chinatown?"

Constant Vigil now looks irritated, but she kept her posture. Rich Nights though was completely angry and spoke in Japanese.

"地獄を探索できます。あなたは犬の糞です。(You can explore Hell. You dog turd.)"

"May I use your phone? It's the least you could do?" Constant Vigil politely smiled.

Hamlin smiled almost evilly and before they knew it, Espio, Rouge, and Rich Nights are under the pavilion outside while Constant Vigil raged in the phonebooth, shouting in Japanese. After many shouts, Constant Vigil stepped out of the booth and marched past the three inside the pavilion. Hamlin walked over to her, completely mad and blocking her way.

"Ms. Vigil! I must ask you to leave, or I'll have to call the police."

"Go ahead, let's see if they arrest the Bride of Shinobi Clan."

Hamlin's eyes widened as he finally recognized who she was. Wow, it doesn't take a second to recognize her and her four horns gave it away since Espio only has one horn like the rest of the chameleons. The elevator dinged and out stepped Lord Maximillian, beelining for the group of four.

"Lord Maximillian! My apologies for this disturbance-"

"Constant! I just got off the phone with Rosie!"

He hugged her, kissing her cheek and turning to Hamlin, ignoring his previous apology.

"Get the Lanchestor suite ready. Now."

Hamlin turned to him in shock.

"Surely, you're joking, sir."

"I assure you, I'm not. As of this evening, my family's long history as custodians of the Calthorpe is ended. I am selling the hotel to my dear friends, the Shinobi Clan and the Yagyu Clan of Tokyo. Meet the new lord of the house, the Bride of Constant Vigil. Join me for a toast."

Hamlin was speechless while Constant Vigil was smug.

"We'd be delighted."

She turned to Hamlin, still smirking. Rich Nights guided the kids to Maximillian while glaring at Hamlin.

"Do get a mop. The floor is wet."

She then took Espio's hand and followed Maximillian. Hamlin was silent for a moment before turning to the speechless worker and ordered him to get to the mopping already as he did. Espio turned the clerks, smirking the whole time. He's glad to have his mom as he sees her as a hero along with Rosie and will thank her over the phone later.
