Dev's POV

Mondays. The worst day of the week. I have read jokes on how awful people find Mondays. But today, I couldn't slack off. I had an important interview to attend to, as I quit my previous job last month and couldn't find one till now. I really hope I get this job. My mother and sister work really hard to run the catering business so as to fulfill our needs and requirements and I didn't want to burden them anymore.

I had worn a formal attire and was on my way to the office, when suddenly the car came to an abrupt halt. I poked my head outside the window and noticed a huge chaos.

There was an argument going on between some man and some random lady. 

She must have been in her late twenties and also looked stunningly gorgeous. I eyed the tresses of her silky black hair that were fit neatly into a chignon. She had worn a crisp red business suit. I couldn't see her full face as she was side-facing me, but I could definitely make out that she was a very important woman. She stood at 5'6" and had a voluptuous figure that poured into a nice hourglass. She took my breath away.

Slowly, the commotion died down and we moved towards the office, but I just couldn't forget her.

Soon, I arrived at the intended place. I paid the taxi driver and sprinted towards the office building. I slowly entered the room and settled down, waiting for the interviewer to come in.

It was sharp 10 A.M. when the interviewer entered and introduced himself.

"Good Morning, Mr. Khanna." I greeted him politely. He returned the greetings and soon began questioning me about my qualifications, past experiences, etc.

I answered the questions respectfully. I even showed him my CV. He then asked me the main question, as to why I had left my studies for 3 years in the middle, so I explained him the reasons as civilly as possible.

He left and told me to wait outside, where I now was and I was really nervous.  This was my last hope for a proper job at a proper workplace. I did get a few job offers, but the package wasn't too good.

I was pacing the waiting area continuously and worriedly. Soon, Mr. Khanna called me in. "Sorry, Mr. Dixit but we don't have any vacancy for you over here." He told me with a stoic expression. I knew what that meant indirectly, that I wasn't qualified enough.

I sighed softly and replied with a smile, "No worries, Mr. Khanna. Thanks for the interviewing. Have a good day."

I staggered out of the office ànd headed back home. Once I reached our 2BHK apartment, I heard my mother's voice. "Arey, Dev beta tum itni jaldi waapis aagaye. Tumhara job interview kaisa tha?"
(Dev, you came back so soon, how was your interview?)

"Maa, I didn't get the job." I sighed dejectedly. "I am sorry Maa, I couldn't be a perfect son for you. In this age, you have to work so much for all of us. And here I am, who can't even get a proper job. Looking after the catering business and then after Neha, Nikki and Riya's needs. You get exhausted so soon, Maa please don't over work yourself." I cried out to her.

"Shh, Dev beta. Don't cry. You are stressing yourself over this matter. Don't worry about a job, I'm sure you'll get one very soon. And as for looking after the four of you, it's my duty to do so. You all are my world and I'll do anything for you. And nobody's perfect, so stop beating yourself over it." Maa softly told me, while hugging me.

Nikki, Riya and Neha came out of their room and joined the family hug.
"Dev bhaiyya, don't be upset. We all support you whole-heartedly. And anyways Riya here got a temporary job as an accountant at Roy Enterprises." Exclaimed Nikki loudly.

"Oh ho Nikki, I wanted to give those news to Dev bhaiyya." Riya said while giving a mock glare to Nikki. I congratulated Riya on her new job, whilst asking Nikki about her studies.

Maa exclaimed suddenly, telling us to calm down and that she had something important to tell us. "Today, I have received a huge and very important order. For this, the whole of ICS has to cater to a total of 200 people at that special event. This event is being organised by Jatin Roy for the Boses. It's for Asha and Bijoy Bose's success and retirement party." She told us in a single breath.

"Wow, Maa, that's a great opportunity for us," Neha blurt out.

"We can introduce them to those new cheese momos Neha di made last week!" Nikki butted in, excitedly.

"Yes, yes, definitely. But first, listen. It's on the next coming Saturday during the evening and it's a huge event. They are very influential people, so there should be no mistakes. They have also invited our family over there. So all of you should be on your best behaviour, especially you Nikki. I don't want any unnecessary drama or complaints. Do I make myself clear?" She ordered quite loudly.

"Yes, Maa." Nikki, Riya, Neha and I all  replied together.

"Now go freshen yourself Dev and come for dinner, quickly." Maa said, nodding her head towards the bathroom.

I quickly took a shower, changed my clothes and headed out for dinner, where I saw Riya and Nikki arguing very loudly and Neha going through something on her mobile phone. I ate dinner, said goodnight to my crazy sisters and mom and headed for bed.

The next morning, I dropped Riya off at her new workplace on my scooter. I wished her, "Good luck!" and headed for home.

Suddenly, a sleek, black car came out of nowhere, and my scooty crashed into the car's headlight. As I fell off the scooter, a young girl came out shouting her head off at me and cursing under her breath at what damage I had done. Following her, another elderly man came out, "Sanjana beta, please calm down. Let this young man explain himself." He told the girl.
The girl in return, huffed and shut up.

"If I'm not mistaken, you must be Mr. Dev Dixit, right?" The elderly man asked me.

I was totally surprised and in a state of shock. There was only one thought running through my mind at the moment - who was this man and how did he know me?
