Chapter Three
Sonakshi's POV
As I entered the office, everyone stood up and greeted me. Although I was very much business - oriented, I could never be the sort of boss that people hate or become extremely rude or mean. I treated my employees with respect and they gave it back. Afterall, respect is earned and not freely handed out. I was also pretty friendly with everyone around and tried to help out anyone in need. Except, if they forgot to finish their work on time. I hate procrastinators.
Heading for the private elevator, I politely nodded at the receptionist.
"Good Morning, Dr. Bose."
"Good Morning, Meghna."
I quickly went up the elevator, right to my cabin, whilst calling my secretary, Tina, for the required documents for the meeting. I went through them as I drank a glass of fresh orange juice, side-by-side. Fresh juices are always better than packed preservative-filled juice boxes.
Soon, my office phone rang, as Tina informed me of the arrival of Mr. And Mrs. Allen, the special clients from London. I immediately stood up and welcomed them in and greeted them politely with a bright smile, "Good Morning Mr. And Mrs. Allen. I hope you both didn't have any issues in getting here, and that my secretary showed you around well. It's afterall really a pleasure to be doing business with you."
"Good Morning, Dr. Bose. Ahh, yes, your secretary was indeed very helpful in showing us around. And the pleasure's all ours, to do business with such a renowned Nutritionist."
"I think we should get started with the required work. Any refreshments for you both?" I asked them warmly.
"No thank-you." Both of them replied together.
"We should start off with our research. So apparently, recently the FDA stated that..." I started off the meeting, discussing cordially.
•••
"Yes, yes, definitely. It was nice meeting and talking with you both and sharing our ideas on this topic." I remarked formally.
"I hope we can have many more meetings like this in the near future, have a good day, Dr. Bose!" Mrs. Allen exclaimed softly, while her husband gave a nod.
"Good day to you both!" I exclaimed, waving goodbye to them.
Finally, one of my most important meetings of the month was over and the goal was accomplished.
As expected at around one in the noon, Jatin came into my cabin and settled himself on the sofa comfortably. "Oh ho Sona, is the meeting already done? Asha Maa has sent a special lunch for you, which you forgot." Jatin shouted purposely.
"Yes, Mr. Jatin Roy, my meeting is over. Tum kitne late aaye ho? Āmi tōmāra upara rāgānbita! And could you stop shouting? It's only me here! (You have come so late. I'm so angry at you!)" I shouted angrily at him, while clenching my fists.
Jatin has been staying with us since a long time, as his parents are always travelling for business and are hardly ever around. For him, my parents are moreover his parents too. We are all a family together. Even though the Roy's aren't here much, we are very close family friends along with the Gujrals, one of Baba's childhood friend's. Jatin interrupts my thoughts by snickering at me, "Miss. CEO - Sonakshi Bose is angry at me! Ahhh, save me!" He says, while running around the office and waving his hands like a mad man.
"Stop it Jatin!" I yell at him, whilst trying to catch him.
"Okay, okay Sona baby calm down. I'm sorry baba. I need to tell you something important. Let's eat first." Jatin pleads.
"Okay, wow, yummy. Maa really makes this the way I like it! You made my day Jatin! You're forgiven!" I reply while devouring the delicious sondesh.
"So Sona, my parents are returning to India and this time for good." Jatin whispered, staring at me for a reaction.
I kept quiet. I really didn't know what to make of this. "I'm glad they've finally come to their senses and are returning again for you." I whispered to him calmly. I started rubbing his back soothingly in circles, with my fingers. I know this is a very sensitive topic for him. His parents have hardly been there for him since his childhood. For them, their business was more important especially after the fall it had taken.
I smile at him, "But don't worry, you'll always be welcome at the Bose Residence."
"Thanks Sona, for understanding."
"Oh anytime Jatin, now stop being so emotional! We have to start preparing and planning for Maa's success party yaar. She only knows about Baba's retirement party, but we have to organize it for both of them. So let's hurry up!" I exclaim, wiping a year from his eye.
"Okay baba, let's start the discussions but first let me take Ellie and Nats in a conference, so we can plan together." Jatin replied, dialling Natasha's number who picked up right on the first ring. Jatin quickly explained to her that he had yet to call Elena and thus put her on speaker mode.
Meanwhile, I dialled Ellie's number while keeping it on speaker. She took the call immediately, "Hi Jatin and you too Sona Di. Abhi kyu disturb Kiya mujhe, busy hoon main." She then started ranting.
(Why did you disturb me right now? I'm busy)
"Shut up Elena Bose, for once!" Jatin and I shout at her, surprisingly together.
"So as I was saying, we need to plan the whole party out. We already know who's going to be invited. So let's start with the catering first. We-" I was interrupted by Jatin, the idiot.
"Don't worry about that girls, I have already given that job to ICS. Surely you must've heard of it? Yes? Great!"
Natasha piped in, "of course, who hasn't heard of them. I heard the owner's daughter makes variations of every dish and it's just fantastic as it has variety, taste and food styling, which is all done quite well."
"Don't get so excited, we still have to plan the rest of the event, the outfits of everyone and decoration of the house." Elena said restlessly. I could literally imagine her glaring at Jatin.
"Let's start off with the decor..." I start off smirking at Jatin, knowing just how much he's going to hate this.

Dev's POV
Thousands of thoughts filled my mind as I tried to figure out who this man standing in front of me was. I have never seen him before. He seemed to be a very important businessman. I shouldn't keep him waiting.
"Yes sir, I am Dev Dixit. But I'm surprised as to how you know me? I'm sorry, but I don't recognise you." I replied politely.
The man in the grey suit replies back, "Dev, finally I get to meet you. I am Rakesh Arora, Sanjana's father. I've been wanting to talk with you for a while about something related to your mother, Ishwari if I'm not mistaken?"
"Oh, uhm yes, my mother is Ishwari Dixit. Why, what's the matter sir?" I reply coolly, wondering how a man who I have never seen in my life knows my mother's name.
"Well, I recently discovered that your mother has yet to pay me back the money she had loaned off me, exactly 5 years back. And well, the time was completed some 4 years back, but I realised it now. Your mother, or shall I say your family is right now indebted to me. You see, your mother owes me twenty lakh rupees." Mr. Arora says heatedly.
Maa always tells me everything, from the smallest of things like washing clothes to her work at ICS, so I wonder how she forgot to tell me about such a huge thing. And if it was indeed my Maa, then why would this man meet me and not her directly?
"Sir, I really didn't know about this and I-I don't really know how or what to do for this. Please sir give me some time to get this money. We really don't have that much." I reply tensely. I doubt my Maa would ever lie to me, but it doesn't seem like I should doubt Mr. Arora either. I should listen to him explain, afterall it's never right to be on the wrong side of such powerful people and this man did seem quite wealthy and as a result, powerful.
Regardless, I was in a state of shock, I couldn't think of any solution right at the moment and I didn't know how to get out of this problem. Maa would know what to say or do in such a situation. I was really confused whether Mr. Arora was telling the truth or not. If so, how come Maa never told me about this? How would I ever repay such a huge amount without even having a job? I was lost in these thoughts before Mr. Arora's loud voice brought me back to the issue at hand.
"Calm down, Dev beta. No need to worry. I have just the solution for your problem..." Mr. Arora says smiling at me, while smirking at his daughter.
•••
So let's see what solution Mr. Arora has for Dev! And majorly, how did you like Sona as the CEO? And the trio's bonding?
