This person moved into a basement suite. Every time they would lock the deadbolt and leave the door handle unlocked but when they'd come back the deadbolt would be unlocked and the handle would be locked. At first they just thought they weren't paying attention and was just confused which one they'd locked so they started paying more attention to what they were doing. It kept happening and they realized that someone must be in when they went out. They'd assumed it was the landlady and was mad they weren't informed.

Then one day they'd come home to see the wrong lock locked again. They went in pissed off and opened the fridge to get something to eat. There was a book they hadn't seen before, they'd collected old books and that one was published in the early 1900s which creeped them out completely because it was like someone had left it there for them. They finally called the landlady and asked if she was going into their apartment and tolled her what had happened. The landlady had freaked out, and said that the last person that lived there was a really creepy guy with mental health and drug problems. She got all the locks changed and it never happened again.
