The Girl Lost In Neon
Karl Olsen was a stranger in a strange land, as a Norwegian within an American sanctuary.
Karl was hesitant to leave the peace of the European Collective, but a personal matter pushed him from his work and wife to Sanctuary Five, and from there to a Caller named Peak.
And from that, Karl was set to meet a Crasher, a person so skilled in being terrifying and professional that their legend stretched far past the Sanctuaries and across the sea to the European Collective.
The meeting point where Karl was to meet the Crasher was a high end, corporate bar in the Moonray Hotel, the Tsukiyo corporation's luxury hotel located in the Corporate Sector.
Karl was a stranger to the lights and hedonism of Sanctuary high life, and nervously sipped in a cup of water as he waited for the Crasher.
Soon enough, the sudden silence issued the Crasher's arrival.
Crasher's were the bogeymen of Sanctuaries, and their arrival was often met with nervous silence and fear.
Karl saw, walking to him, a man hardly distinguishable to be a man from the extensive CY-Tech across his face, the only visible part of his body as the rest was covered in a large trench coat, turtleneck with a visible holster under the right arm, a pair of black pants with knee pads, and gloves. All a pitch black that contrasted the ghostly white of his skin.
Karl nearly jumped when the Crasher sat in front of him, forgetting for a moment that he was there to help them.
Karl spoke with a nervous stutter.
Karl: A-are you...the Crasher?
Crasher: Yes, Six.
Karl: Pardon?
Six: My name is Six, Crashers are numbered.
Karl: I...see...
Karl nervously rubbed the cup I front of him, unable to look Six I the eye in part of fear and part of the fact that Six's eyes were covered by a visor, which appeared to be tactical in design.
Karl attempted to east the awkward situate with conversation.
Karl: I could order us something to drink? Or eat? You do eat, yes? I personal prefer the steak here...
Six interrupted.
Six: I suspect that this conversation has a purpose?
Karl: I'm sorry, I just...don't know what to do...
Six: That's why I'm here, people call me when they don't know. All I need is details.
Karl relented his despair and handed a folder to Six, which upon opening revealed the picture of a blonde, teenage girl.
Karl: She is my daughter, Anna. She came to Sanctuary 5 for charity work.
Six: Charity work doesn't often get far here, gangs like to make Cred off of anything, even goodwill.
Karl: Why hurt someone who only does good?
Six: Because it's quick Cred.
Six examined Anna's photo, and saw she wore a shirt with the logo 'Safe Streets'.
Six: Safe Streets is a charity organization that hands out food to the less fortunate, last I checked they were handing out supplies to the workers in SexTown.
Karl: SexTown?
Six: Sex district, brothels and strip clubs, not a place for kids.
Six handed the folder back to Karl.
Six: Do you know who organized the SexTown charity?
Karl: A young man from here, Peter I believe was his name.
Six stood up, adjusting his coat.
Six: Noted. Get in touch with Peak to set up payment.
Six left despite Karl's attempts to thank him, and disappeared into the one percent crowd outside the bar.
The Cred was sent, the job was clear, Six's first stop was SexTown, and he knew just who to see.
SexTown
If one found the neon and consumerism of Sanctuary 5 unbearable, then SexTown was certainly the worst of it all in one place.
Located under the main shopping district, SexTown was hidden away and only accessible via repurposed maintenance ways, though despite it's well hidden location, prostitution and the like was legal.
Six passed by the dives and clubs, dancers behind transparent glass looking at him with a mischievous lust.
Six's destination was the Gushing Geisha Sex Shop, which sold common personal items and more 'exotic' items.
The owner of Geisha, John The John, was a 'friend' of Six, a less than law abiding citizen that owed Six several times other for past events that would have otherwise saw her dead in a landfill with her CY-Tech torn from her body.
John was unique and beautiful, originally born male, John underwent several CY-Tech surgeries to become female. A long and arduous process that was well worth it to be who she truly was.
Now, with purple hair and a form fitting wardrobe of mostly purple, John was one of the few people that could be consider a friend to Six.
Six found Geisha, which as the name indicated, had a neon sign of a geisha surrounded by a tidal wave across her lower body, the insinuation clear.
The door to Geisha opened automatically, and on the inside was a fairly respectable store despite location and marketing point, with a clean interior and nicely designed shop, the corners of the store having a more rounded design, giving it a more appealing look.
John The John was behind the counter as the shop owner, and immediately noticed Six, who wasn't nearly as colorful as the rest of the store.
John: Well if it isn't my favorite military grade corporate killing machine!
John heralded Six with a cheeky applause, Six not reacting even faintly.
John: Still a stickler for fun...but oh!
John quickly averted her attention to her hand, which had a CY-Tech finger on her index.
John: Look at this new fucker, the WiggleLast Mk. 2. It self lubricates and has full 360 degree motion.
John moved her finger to show that it moved like a moist tentacle, it's purpose clearly seen.
John: You could reach into some forbidden places with this luxury. want a model? It comes in different colors.
Six wasted no time on his mission.
Six: A charity work came through here recently, calling themselves Safe Streets. Bunch of kids, did you see them?
John: You know, actually I did. Some of the little shits came in here mishandling the merchandise, boys being irresponsible glory hounds.
Six dropped Anna's picture onto the counter.
Six: What about her?
John: I definitely remember her, she was far to innocent for this little den of sin. She was uncomfortable from minute one.
Six: Did you see her go with anyone? Anyone suspicious.
John dropped her head in her hand.
John: Suspicious? Baby, be more specific.
Six: Anyone exceptionally off putting.
John: In that case, there was some goons with the El Dorado Gang here when those kids came through.
El Dorado was a Hispanic gang who owned the low class housing district called Suicide Row, it earning that name because the unbearable living conditions caused many to leave the mortal world behind.
Six: Why was El Dorado here? This is Neon X territory.
Neon X was another gang, more diverse in recruitment than El Dorado, which specialized in car theft and drug dealing. Along with being a general nuisance.
John: Word is they cut deal with Neon-X, they trade product and don't shoot at each other in broad daylight.
Six: And Neon-X are aware that El Dorado kidnaps and steal CY-Tech?
John: Probably, if money can be made than eyes shall look away. Profit is profit Sixxy.
Six thought.
Six: If I can access the police cameras outside of SexTown I can run a scan for El Dorado gang affiliates and cross reference that with Anna's ID. If it works I could not only figure out who took her, but learn where their going.
John: Look at you being all technical, makes me all warm.
Six did as he set out to, using an algorithm to run his preset scan, and behold he found something.
In Six's view he saw security footage showing Anna be thrown in the trunk of an El Dorado car, the man who tossed her in being identified as Jesus Newman, wanted for kidnapping, CY-Tech theft, and murder.
Six: Found them.
Six turned to leave, but found his coat collar pulled back, John not letting him go.
John: No kiss for being a good girl?
Six reached out and held John's chin
Six: Next time.
Six left, walking past the solicitors and eager buyers to leave for Suicide Row.
Suicide Row wasn't know to be peaceful, with car bombs and murder carried out in broad daylight, an arsenal would be needed.
And thankfully, in the trunk of his car and within the metallic confines of his body, Six had one.
Suicide Row
Suicide Row was a district with two distinct parts, the mega building apartments close to the city that housed the low class and the traditional houses closer to the city wall that housed the middle class.
Six had tracked Jesus to a house on Summer Street, which was a central spot for El Dorado.
El Dorado was prone to locking down entire streets and using the houses within for whatever illegal operations they felt like, and judging by the faint smell of rotting flesh, CY-Tech theft was today's crime of the day.
Six parked his car outside the street's entrance and carried from the trunk two guns.
The first was Six's trusted weapon, the Tristar, a pistol manufactured by Smartfire that connected to the targeting system in Six's head to fire three individual bullets that will track hostiles individually, with eight bullets in the clip.
The second was a shotgun designed by Defensive Line, which was designed to clear close proximity areas of threats using an automatic reload function to allow two separate clips of shells to be fired back to back.
Six hid the Tristar on his hip and the shotgun under his coat on his back, all to not stir attention before he knew where Anne could be found.
Six found the house that Jesus owned, a simple single floor home with an old yellow paint, bulletin holes and murals to the dead surrounded the yellow paint.
Six counted three guards in front of the house, all carrying weapons of varying make, model, and condition along with different CY-Tech parts, all marked with the signature gold styling of El Dorado.
Upon entering Summer Street, those with weaker courage ran into their homes, parents grabbed their children and escaped indoors, fearful of the bloodshed sure to follow the Crasher that arrived.
Six approached the lawn, and outside of taking a cautionary step back, the guards did not relent, holding their weapons tightly as he walked past them and up to the door.
With two knocks, a brief moment of silence followed by the patter of feet, too small in sound to be an adult.
Once the door opened, Six saw a child looking up at him, hiding halfway behind the door in fear as children in Sanctuary 5 saw Crashers as terrifying urban legends.
Six: Hello.
Child: Hi.
Six: What is your name?
Child: Gabby.
Six dropped down on one knee.
Six: Do you live here Gabby?
Gabby: Nuh uh, I live across the street with my mom.
Six: Why are you here then?
Gabby: The gold guys let me and the other kids clean up the basement here for money. It's always smelly.
Six: That bad?
Gabby: Yeah, like this one time when I forgot I had a bacon burger in my room and it smelled bad after a few days. Like, yuk.
Six: Yeah, Yuk.
Six reached into his pocket opposite the side of his pistol, and grabbed a handful of Creds from it.
Six: How much do they pay you to clean the basement?
Gabby: Five Creds each.
Six: I'll give you ten to go home and stay inside with your mom.
Gabby thought.
Gabby: Fifteen.
Six: Twelve.
Gabby: fourteen.
Six gathered fourteen Creds from his hand and handed them to Gabby.
Six: Stay safe, Gabby.
Gabby: Okay mister Crasher.
Gabby walked past Six and the guards who still watched Six with a nervous focus.
Gabby yelled back to Six as she walked.
Gabby: By the way, there's two gold guys behind the door.
Six: Noted.
Gabby walked across the street and into her house, leaving only Six surrounded by the three guards outside and the two Gabby spoke of hiding behind the door.
With a sudden movement, Six pulled the Tristar from his hip and fired at the the guards outside, the billets tracking all three and ending them.
With his other hand, Six pulled the shotgun from his coat and fired into the wall near the door, striking another guard with enough force to send him flying back.
Six then charged into the door, dislodging it and hitting the guard behind it, carrying both the door and guard into the inside wall and firing a shot with the Tristar into the guard's face.
With all the guards dead, Six could hear the panicked muttering of Spanish coming from the basement, and proceeded down the nearby stairs.
Once in the basement, Six found himself in a hallway with a room to the right and a turn to the left at the end, and after cautiously walking forward, turned into the room to see a man operating on a body, the blood on his arms and floor indicating that the person on the table is long since dead.
Six quietly approached the standing man, and with one quick move snapped his neck.
After dropping the man's body, Six looked down at the body to see a young man on his early twenties, a nearby shirt with the Safe Streets logo and a name card labeled 'Peter' signaling the man's identity.
The body on the table was Peter, the organizer of the Safe Streets charity in SexTown, a victim of CY-Tech theft that left him nearly in pieces.
Six, understanding the gravity of the situation, quickly walked out of the room and back into the hallway, making a turn on the left that lead to an operating room closed of by two double doors.
Six scanned past the door, and saw one person preparing for surgery and two guards with them, one of which was Jesus.
Six readied the Tristar and fired through the door, using his ability to scan past the door to strike the surgeon and one guard, but missing Jesus as he narrowly dodged the bullet meant for him.
Six charged into the operating room, and continued to fire at Jesus with his shotgun, who hid behind a pillar.
Six switched back to the Tristar, and reset the targeting algorithm to strike through a weak part in the pillar and hit Jesus in the chest, downing him.
After the gunfight concluded, Six approached the operating table and found Anna on it, her skin blue from cold storage in order to keep her body functioning to properly harvest the CY-Tech within.
Anna was strapped into the table with an uplink to her head that kept her unconscious, and upon it being pulled out she awoke with a panicked scream, believing herself in danger.
Anna: No! No! Get away from me!
Six held her shoulders to calm her.
Six: It's alright Anna. It's alright.
Anna began to calm down, though her breathing was still quick from shock.
Six: Your father sent me, I'm here to rescue you.
Anna: M-My father? Dad...
Six quickly got Anna to her feet, where she managed to stand after a small stumble.
Six: Can you walk?
Anna: I think so...
Six: Good, I need you to follow me and-
Six was cut off by a message in his visor.
[WARNING HOSTILE TARGETING FROM BEHIND]
The three hundred and sixty degree sensor in Six's head warned him that Jesus was aiming at him from behind, and Six quickly turned and shot him in the head, killing him.
Six turned back to Anna.
Six: Stay close.
Six lead Anna out of the house and out of Summer Street, successfully rescuing her from a gruesome fate.
Some time later, Moonray Hotel
After contacting Karl and setting up a meeting at the Moonray hotel, Six sat with Anna at the same booth that he and Karl did, where Anna waited anxiously for her father and Six sat nearly unmoving.
Now familiar with Six, Anna felt somewhat comfortable with conversation.
Anna: So, is Six your real name?
Six: No, it's a number.
Anna: Why do you go by a number?
Six: I don't go exclusively by a number, I have a first name.
Anna: Oh? Then what's your first name?
Six: Not important.
Just as Six said that, Anna saw Karl enter the bar, and excitedly ran to him.
Karl and Anna embraced each other, the terror of father and daughter never seeing each other again brushed away with a warm hug.
Karl: Anna...oh god my Anna.
Anna: Dad...
As the two cried with each other, Six looked on and left, but not before being caught by Karl.
Karl: Thank you...by god thank you.
Anna ran out of her father's arms and hugged Six, grappling his arms to his side where he looked at her with confusion.
Anna: Thank you Six.
Anna released Six, who without saying a word, walked out of the bar, until he reached the exit.
Six: Leo.
Anna: What?
Six: My first name is Leo. Leo Six.
Anna looked at Six with tears in her eyes.
Anna: Thank you Leo Six.
Six left the Moonray Hotel, with more Creds in his pocket and two less people terrified of him.
SexTown
John The John was closing Gushing Geisha for the night, customers were hectic and sakes were made, all that was left was to lock up and for her to go to her apartment on the second floor.
Before John could close the door, a foot caught it, preventing it from shutting.
John: We're closed, come back-
John was taken aback to see Six on the other sit of the door.
John: Oh, Sixxy...
John looked Six up and down.
John: I knew you'd be back.
Six: Don't get the wrong idea, my apartment's air conditioning is broken and I can't sleep if it's too hot.
John crossed her arms.
John: Yeah...right...
Six: So, if possible, can I stay the night here?
John reached out and pinched Six's cheek.
John: Oh, you don't even have to ask.
John opened the door for Six to walk in, and as he walked through the doorway, John put her hand on his chest.
John: Just so you know...I can get a little 'wild' with company.
Six took off his visor, revealing blue CY-Tech eyes, and kept his composure as he spoke.
Six: Which is why I looked forward to coming here.
Six entered the Gushing Geisha, with John eagerly turning off the open sign at the display.
