Chapter 1

He squinted staring through the darkness, trying to see if he could spot anything. Perhaps a familiar building, or something. Of course it was way too dark to see anything and this made it difficult for him. Then a thought struck him. Where was Ally? Where was Nadwe? Where was Joocie, Laff, and Blaza? They were just with him. What about Socks? Was he alright? He didn't know and that made him worried. The person he was most worried about was Nadwe. Nadwe was young and after seeing his friend get absolutely pummeled down an Elevator shaft, he couldn't imagine how that would affect him. Meme could still hear the sickening crunch as Muffin hit the bottom of the elevator. He winced as he remembered the scream. He glanced through the darkness again and saw bright yellow eyes peering back at him. He took a step back and the other person took a step forward. There was pure hate in those eyes, undying savage hate. The person let out a low growl and leaped at him. The last thing Meme saw was a bright orange hoodie.

He shot awake, hitting his head on the side of the helicopter he had been leaning next to.
"Ow.." He groaned, rubbing his head. He then realized what he had just seen was just a dream and he sighed. It was night, he must have dozed off. His hand went to his leg which was in pain. He wondered if it was broken. Probably isn't it would be more bendy, I guess. Meme thought deliriously, More crooked. Maybe it's dislocated. Meme ran through all the possibilities in his head. Dislocated, Small broken bone, maybe he was just sore. Whatever it was his leg was still in a lot of pain. He glanced up at the lopsided helicopter. It had crashed after Laff shot the pilot. Meme glanced over at the pilot's body leaning up against the brick wall. A bullet hole in his chest. Meme had deemed this area, 'Crash Course'. He liked the name, he thought it suited the area. He closed his eyes and pictured a sign that read 'Welcome to Crash Course! The easiest thing you will be doing here is crashing!'
"Well it's not wrong." He muttered to himself. The plane had a small flame that lit up the area. Ally and Nadwe were sitting together. Ally was unloading and reloading as fast as she could, while Nadwe was the stopwatch. Phones and anything electric was rare now. It would just be pure luck that they would find a stopwatch that had batteries inside. Semi Lucky if it was a stopwatch that had its batteries raided for flashlights. He could hear Nadwe distantly counting up and stopping to tell Ally her final time to which she would say,

"Let me try again." Then Nadwe would start counting again. Rinse and repeat. He turned his head to see Joocie leaning near the fire, snoring. He was asleep, it was hard to tell because his hair was in his eyes but he was definitely asleep. Laff and Blaza were sitting with each other, exchanging conversation and health kits. Blaza had some burns on his leg that Laff was bandaging up tightly, wrapping the gauze around the wound. Blaza wincing and sharply breathing in every time Laff wound the roll around, tightening it with each go. Meme tried to stand up and found that he could. He limped over to them, Laff looking up and smiling, his gas mask lay to his side. Blaza still stared at his wounded leg, tears forming in the corner of his eyes.

"Do you guys need help?" He asked. Laff chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah that would be appreciated," Laff said. Meme leaned down and Laff handed him the roll of bandages. Meme began to wrap it around the leg. Eventually he stopped when he thought that it should be enough. "Thanks Mate, how are youse holding up?" Laff asked, his accent heard along with his concerned tone.

"I'm holding up as best as I can." Meme responded solemnly. Laff nodded and reached into his bag; he pulled out a small rock and turned to his axe.
"I've only seen this on TV. I don't know if it will work like they say it does." Laff observed, Meme tilted his head in confusion. Laff must have seen that Meme didn't understand. "I'm going to try to sharpen the blade." Laff explained. Blaza was sitting quietly rocking back and forth until he finally looked up at Meme.
"Socks?" He asked, Meme shook his head. Blaza then just looked back down at his leg and started muttering something unintelligible.

"Is he okay?" Meme whispered to Laff pointing his thumb in Blaza's direction. Laff glanced at Blaza and sighed.
"He's just in shock." Laff said, glancing back at his axe to hide his unsureness in his gaze. Meme stood up and walked over to Joocie who was opening his eyes. He shuffled a bit closer to the fire in an attempt to warm himself up. Meme sat down next to him and Joocie let out a cough and glanced at Meme.

"Hi." Meme muttered softly. Joocie turned to look at him.

"Hey." He responded breaking out into another coughing fit.

"Are you sick?" Meme asked him, Joocie shook his head then he coughed again. "It sounds like you are sick." Meme observed, Joocie let out a soft laugh.

"How are you?" He asked quietly, his voice raspy.
"I'm alright." Meme responded.

"Any ideas on what to do next?" Joocie asked.
"What would Socks do?" Meme wondered to himself. He felt someone grab his shoulder. He glanced to see Joocie looking at him.

"Forgive me for saying this but he's gone. Get it through your head, I don't mean to sound harsh but he's gone." Meme's jaw dropped.

"What?" He asked in disbelief.

"You have to stop turning to him like he's still here. We all know he's not." Joocie said as kindly as he could. Meme just stared at him in outrage. He stood up wincing at the sudden pain in his leg.
"Y-you can't say that!" Meme told him, pointing his finger accusingly at Joocie who just looked up at him innocently.
"All I said was the truth Meme, it's your opinion that Socks is still alive." Joocie told him. He stood up and walked over to where Blaza and Laff were talking. He sat down next to them. Memes cold, furious gaze following his every step. Meme took a deep breath, and decided he would talk to Nadwe and Ally, and see how they were. He walked over to where Nadwe was counting.

"One...Two.... THREE! THREE SECONDS ALLY!" Nadwe exclaimed. Ally smiled at him Nadwe laughed.
"You sound excited." Meme observed aloud. Ally and Nadwe glanced at him, Nadwe with a big grin on his face, Ally started laughing.

"It's not that big of a deal Nad," She told him. Nadwe looked at her in surprise.

"Not that big of a deal? It took you three seconds to reload! THREE!" Nadwe said holding up three fingers. Ally just chuckled and gestured for Meme to take a seat next to her. She glanced at him with a smile on her lips.

"Meme, it's good to see you awake." She said. Meme nodded.
"Thanks."

"Don't mention it, Anyways we have a big thing going on," She paused mid-sentence expecting Meme to finish the sentence but when he didn't she continued. "We need to plan on what we're going to do next." She said. "Like what's our goal? We had the goal of getting to Mercy Hospital for Socks but now that... You know, he's gone. We no longer have an exact goal." She waved her hand gesturing that if Meme wanted to say something he could. "Any ideas are welcome." She told him.
"Ally, you are probably the best planner I've ever seen. Any plans that you come up with I'm following." He told her. Ally's smile grew bigger.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence." She said. Meme smiled back at her. It felt unnatural. He hadn't really felt happy in awhile. Ally's face quickly went back to her worried frown that Meme had seen on her face so often now. "I hate being the leader." She whispered quietly. Of course Nadwe and Meme could hear but she hadn't intended for them to not hear. "It's up for grabs." She said trying to lighten up the mood but instantly went back to serious. "I'm being honest I don't know what to do." She leaned back and stared at the sky with her hands over her face. She sighed and then went back to looking at the both of them again. "I have to worry about five people's lives, any decision I make has to be taken into careful consideration." She said. Meme hugged her and she smiled at him.
"How long will we stay here for though?" Meme asked.
"I'm thinking for a little bit longer, it might be best to travel at night." Ally murmured. Staring at the night sky. "It's only been night for 2 hours at least . You fell asleep early in the day," She told him.
"Sorry, I've just been really tired lately." He told her. Ally nodded.
"You've had a rough past few days. I get it completely." Nadwe who had been sitting silently across from them messing with the brims of his top hats. He shuffled and started speaking, "Don't you think if we're gonna start moving we should start moving now?" He asked. Ally crossed her arms thinking about it carefully.

"Yeah I guess so." She shrugged. She stood up and brushed off her knees since there was dirt on them from sitting on the ground. Meme stood up after her wincing as pain shot up his leg, gritting his teeth.
"Are you alright?" Nadwe asked, standing up and walking over to where Meme was struggling to get up.
"Just some pain." Meme responded. "Shouldn't be too bad." He told Nadwe. Nadwe looked at him skeptically. Shrugging as Meme stretched his leg wincing as more pain flared in his ankle. "Oh Ow-" He whispered quietly not wanting to concern Nadwe who was walking behind Ally, glancing back ever so often just to make sure that Meme was alright. One time he stopped walking and Meme waved at him to keep going. He started limping after them.
"Alright guys." Ally murmured. Sitting down in a circle. Joocie, Blaza, and Laff now sitting with them as Nadwe sat next to Ally while Meme took a place on the other side of her. "We need a plan on where we're going next. Since honestly I don't have one." Ally said. Blaza chuckled softly.
"Well we always have the plan of following the road." Laff suggested. Ally shrugged and her gaze went across the group.
"It's a vote." She said.
"Whatever Blaza does I agree with." Joocie said. Blaza glanced at him surprised. Then he returned his gaze to Ally. Meme looked at Ally.
"I see no issue with that plan." He told her.
"Neither do I." Nadwe said. Ally sighed.
"I guess that's the plan." She murmured. "Let's get moving, grab whatever supplies you want from the plane crash before we get moving." Meme walked over to where some extra medkits lay; he scooped them up with one arm and threw them into his backpack. He glared down into the bag to see if he had any more room for anything else. He glanced over and saw a small tear of something bright colored next to the burning part of the helicopter. He walked over and picked it up. It was a slightly rainbow colored fabric. It reminded Meme of Socks so he opened up one of the outer pockets of the backpack and slipped the small patch of fabric. He zipped it back up and slipped the backpack on. He grabbed his SG 552. It was a small gun; it acted like an SMG but had a small scope on top that helped him aim. He grabbed a crowbar and slid it into one of the side pockets. It had a small hole in it so the crowbar slipped inside and one edge got caught and stayed in the pocket making it easier for him to carry it. He shook himself and shouted.
"I'm ready. Lets go!"
