Dream was in stone for 100 years. You realize that he went from an era with little if any technology to iPhones and TVs and Bluetooth and Touchscreens and video games and computers that can calculate complicated math problems and fuCKING SPACE SHIPS AND PEOPLE HAVE GONE TO THE FUCKING MOON I MEAN SERIOUSLY THE MOON HE PROBABLY THOUGHT IT WAS STILL MADE OF CHEESE OR SMTHN

- He probably saw Ink call someone his phone the first time and thought he was crazy for talking to himself then just freak when he heard a voice talking on the other end like "WHAT KIND OF BLACK MAGIC IS THIS"

- You realize Dream is more of a clueless boomer than your grandparents who are ACTUAL boomers

- He probably had a heart attack when he saw a car for the first time; imagine the highway

- Like all these stories with him knowing how to use technology it probably took him a long time to get used to things

- He probably still has trouble with his phone constantly

- Like "iNk how do I turn the Bluetooth thing on again" or "Blue why isn't it working"

- At some point he'd probably put it on airplane mode thinking that it'll fly or something and being very disappointed when it doesn't

- Then wondering why he can't google shit or text his friends later bc it's STILL ON AIRPLANE MODE

- Oh yeah and the first time he saw an airplane? "That's one loud bird" and Blue and Ink just stare at him like he's crazy before they remember that he's not even kidding he legitimately thinks it's a bird because he's never seen a plane before

- He probably still believed the earth was flat

- He constantly gets teased about it

- Somebody asks if he's been living under a rock for a thousand years and he's just like "I was a rock for about a century if that's what you're asking"

- The only thing he got used to really quickly was probably the culture and sarcasm and phrases and slang and shit

- Nightmare just laughs at him for it because he actually was there when all this shit was invented so he's used to it

- Nightmare also happens to be a good driver

- Better than literally everyone

- Never let Dream drive though

- Ever

- You will die

- Actually don't even take him on a road trip

- He'll have a panic attack from going so fast in such an enclosed space

- He hates it

- He loves flying in an airplane though

- He wants to go to the moon like "oThEr PeOpLe HaVe DoNe It WhY cAnT I"

- "Because you have to be trained to be an astronaut and that's expensive"

- "How hard can it be to go in a space ship and go to space?"

- Ink and Blue looking at each other like 'here we go; we have to expose him to science again'

- At least he's not one of those people who rejects all science

- Then things would be difficult

- He probably has a fear of microwaves

- If it can cook food what's keeping it from cooking him?!? What's even cooking the food, anyway? RadIATION WHAT THE HELL WE HAVE A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IN THE HOUSE GUYS WTF

- He's probably scared of Siri and Google too honestly

- "Alexa play despacito" "Who's Alex-" "Playing despacito" *fearful screaming* "Jfc dude calm down" "itjsjxnfn THE CYLINDER JUST SPOKE AND IS PLAYING SOME WEIRD MUSIC IN SPANISH" "Dream I swear to god-"

- He seems normal but then technology is involved and he just doesn't get it

- He tries really he does

- He never understands a word Sci says it's just smart-sounding gibberish to him

- If he resents Nightmare for anything it's this; seriously this sucks

- He'd be that person who'd see that vine of the kid calling the police on his microwave and try it despite his microwave-phobia

- Ink and Blue are just like "This is hilarious but we should also probably get him to stop"

- Chainsaws scare the literal shit out of him

- Not just because they're loud and sharp becuase they have moving parts and he doesn't know how they work

- He's probably had several nightmares where he's being chased by a microwave wielding a chainsaw trying to cook him with its radiation

But Nightmare...

- NOT ONLY is Nightmare the best driver, but he's more tech-savvy than everyone at his castle; in fact, the only ones in the multiverse who know more than him are Sci and the few AUs that are in a futuristic time setting.
(And technically Reaper, in some aspects of it, though only because he's always on Snapchat or something and Nightmare doesn't use social media as often. He thinks people post stupid things on there. He's not exactly right, but he's not entirely wrong either...)

- This is proven by the fact that he owns the latest model phone, knows exactly how it's functions operate, how to fix it if something happens, and that everyone in his team goes to him if they're having problems they can't figure out themselves. He's quite proud of this.

- When Sci is talking tech he can actually keep up and engage in conversation. Not that he ever does.

- He thinks it's hilarious that Dream's so out of touch and is constantly making fun of him for it.

- He may or may not have scarred him with Alexa like

Nightmare: *sneaks into the Star's base* Hey Alexa, tell Dream when he gets home, "You're a total boomer"

Alexa: Ok, I will.

Nightmare: *leaves, laughing*

Dream, coming home: uggghhhh I'm so tired

Alexa: Someone left a message for you.

Dream:

Alexa: Would you like me to read it?

Dream: Yyyyyeeessssss????

Alexa: Okay. Here's your message:

Dream:

Ink: Yo

Dream: Can we get rid of Alexa she's scaring me more than usual

Ink:

- Not seen: Ink aggressively committing face-table

- That's a lesser example

- Nightmare has done this numerous times with different messages

- He also finds various technology-related ways to prank Dream

- Dream has good reason to be scared of technology

- But like Dream, AIRPLANES GUYS AIRPLANES ARE AWESOME

- Secretly is upset that trains went out of style because when they first happened they were the shit I mean come on

- He might be holding off on killing his brother but this isn't confirmed and if it is true it's because he enjoys tormenting him

- Just

- Don't ask him about Autocorrect

- He hates it with a passion

- Unrivaled by anything you've ever seen

- Screw killing Dream; Autocorrect is his #1 enemy

- See also Dream relying on it for spelling because language has changed and spelling for like 50% of the words in it is different and he hasn't quite gotten there yet

- Especially don't tell Nightmare that

- Somebody deciding they need an actual, non-murder hobby and trying to get Nightmare to teach them what he knows and Nightmare just being like "lmao no" because he doesn't want to be shown up

- You can't even get better than him anyway because he is always keeping up with things

- He has the newest PC too. He can take it apart and put it back together the right way without breaking anything

- And he has an AppleTV

- He won't let his idiot minions use it without his supervision though

- End of story

- Break the rules of Uncle Night's tech and you'll be on your hands and knees, scrubbing the floors for a month.

- "Maybe it'll teach you to respect my stuff; when I was a kid we had to do it every other day." - Nightmare when you protest that it's too extreme

- Dream also agrees; scrubbing the floors isn't that hard. Just time-consuming. Swiffers and mops are such an improvement.

- When the brothers are both reminiscing about something from before the Great Apple Fiasco then you know that some technology really is making things harder

- So actually they're both old people in the sense that Nightmare's still like "bAcK iN mY dAy We DiDnT hAvE aLl ThIs NiCe ShIt"

- Nightmare wishes to live on the dark side of the moon

- Dream wants to go with him because space

- They might actually find a way to go to space and forget all of their previous problems for a while

- Maybe

- More likely Nightmare will kick him out of the ship without a space suit on

- But then he wouldn't be able to torment him anymore

- The day Dream says 'I don't need help' with his phone and actually figures it out within a reasonable time is the day Nightmare fears most

- Did you know that Horror got a chainsaw once he learned that Dream was terrified of them

- In fact, the entire team has one now

- And they have hedges so there's a decent chance Dream'll be attempting to sneak into the castle, hear them trimming the hedges, and nope the fuck out of there

- BUT!

- Nightmare is wary of lasers. And Dream is fascinated by them. Cue Dream finally being able to laugh at his brother for being scared of technology.
