I don't believe love's for me, so won't you come around and prove me wrong

The garden was always my safe place. I could relax and just forget about life.

I didn't have to worry about interacting with people or about the stresses of my life.

Everything was perfect in the garden. The outside world was dull in comparison to the garden. The garden was vivid and bright, always glistening with fresh dreams.

I couldn't imagine anything better then the garden.

Every day was better than the last.

Until he came along.

He wasn't perfect. He came to the garden and I told him to leave. I told him to get lost and never return. I was so mean to him and he hadn't even said three words to me.

He was clearly hurt.

I was being protective. . . but also selfish. I couldn't stand the thought of someone else ruining the safe environment.

I didn't realise that he needed the garden as much as I did.

I felt bad.

Really bad.

Would he be curious and brave enough to come back?

It had been weeks before a familiar tapping of footsteps returned.

I was so relieved to see him again that I hugged him. I rejoiced in his returning and told him that he could stay as long as he liked. He didn't need to be afraid anymore. He would be safe.

In the garden I am safe and he is safe.

We are safe together.
