You and Ethan laid on the grass under the night sky. The navy canvas held thousands of tiny stars above your head.

"I could sit under the stars with you forever."

You tilted your head to look at Ethan laying beside you in the grass. You had to admit that he was very handsome in the moonlight.

"I wish we could just stay here forever," you replied in a hushed tone, almost a whisper. He nodded his head while he continued to stargaze.

"But we have our stupid lives to deal with." You finished.

"Hey. Don't think like that. Let's enjoy tonight and not think about tomorrow."

You felt bad about ruining the moment so you kept your mouth shut. Ethan noticed you had tensed up so he sat up and put his arm around you.

"Don't waste your energy that you need for your battles. If you worry about them now they will seem even worse when you face them. Relax and look up at the stars. Breathe slowly and feel my heartbeat. I'm here for you."

You were beginning to calm down. The more you focused on Ethan, the more secure you felt. These bad times were never permanent. There were beautiful things that are worth staying around for. Ethan being one of them.

"Thank you for always being there for me," you said into his chest. The two of you now enjoyed the blissful silence with only the sound of crickets and frogs filling the space. Ethan gently took hold of your hand and placed a kiss on your cheek.

"I will always be here for you."
