Crafted Siblings

I'm an orphan. Let's start with that.

Let's also add the fact that I hate my life right now. My guardian is the devil in high heels and I have no one who loves me.

My name is Josie Wonders. I didn't have a last name, so I gave one to myself. I live in Minecraftia. I wear black sweaters and jeans almost every day and I have a star necklace with me at all times.

What can I say? It's my good luck charm. It reminds me that life could get better.

I hope it gets better, but right now I seriously doubt it.

"Josie! Get down here right now!" yells Ms. C from downstairs. I groan and grab my sword from beside my bed.

I don't know Ms. C's full name. I just call her Ms. C.

"I'm coming!" I yell. I come down the stairs and face her. She stands in the kitchen with an apple and a loaf of bread.

"You can have these when you get back with gunpowder, rotton flesh and some bones," she said, an evil grin on her face.

I sighed and left the house.

We live on the outskirts of a small town with a forest on one side. Every morning I'm told to go into the forest and bring back three different items from three different mobs.

As I ran through the trees, my black braid bounced against my back and my brown eyes shimmered. It was only when I was away from Ms. C that I was truly happy, even when I was being threatened by mobs.

I saw a zombie and quickly killed it, collecting its flesh. I saw a creeper and killed it as well, getting the gunpowder.

"I just need one skeleton," I muttered to myself. I heard the clattering of bones and saw a skeleton behind me. I ran at it and killed it before it shot me, which was a relief. Usually I get shot at least three times before I kill them.

I hurried home, my stomach growling. Ms. C was standing in the door of the house with her arms crossed.

"Did you get the materials?" she asked. I nodded and gave them to her. She examined each of them carefully and nodded.

"Here you go," she said, handing me my breakfast. I ate them quickly and went back to my room, which was where I resided most of my day.

If you're wondering about why I'm not in an orphanage, it's because they said I was too old to be there with the little kids and that I should have my own room and such (I'm 17, by the way). Since I still needed a guardian, they decided to pay Ms. C to stay with me.

That's probably the only thing keeping her here. She hates my guts.

I looked at my star necklace and held it in my fingers, feeling the cool metal.

"It's going to get better," I mumbled to myself.

I sighed and looked out the window. It was a nice day, so I decided to go to the town.

"Ms. C! I'm going to town!" I yelled as I walked downstairs.

"Fine. Feel free to get hit by a horse," she muttered from the living room. I don't know if she wanted me to hear that, but I have a slight feeling she did.

I left the house with my backpack and walked down the street. Horses and riders rode past me and I watched them go by.

I arrived at the town and immediately went to the convenience store. I got some cookies and some steaks to stash in my room. I never know when Ms. C will decide not to feed me.

I handed the man some money and left towards home.

This was a pretty easy day in the life of me.
