She looks to the sky all faded and grey

And wonders if rain can wash pain away

She looks at her arms marked by the years

Evidence of when she drowned in her fears

He looks to the sky and screams to be heard

Begging and pleading to be free as a bird

If they would just look they'd see cracks in his soul

He stares at the bottle and loses control

They look to the sky a rope in hand

They sigh and choose to make their last stand

A simple knot no second thoughts

They close their eyes and then they drop

The sky looks on at the children below

With thundering sobs, the sadness it shows

The sky, it cries for those it can't save

The living and dead who tried to be brave
