The plane ride was one I knew I wouldn’t forget any time soon. Harry had gotten a private plane for the two of us, allowing the flight to be comfortable and quiet. We talked most of the way, the ride only being about an hour. Upon landing, Harry had told me that we were going to stop at the hotel first to drop off our bags, and then we would be going out.
Leaving the airport was proven to be a hard maneuvering task. Crowds gathered in the front, I wasn’t sure how they found out we would be here; but they seemed to do a good job with that. I held Harry’s arm as we went through the pushing crowd. I kept my head down, leaning into Harry as I felt uncomfortable with the sudden contact. We stopped, greeting a few people not to be rude, and then we got into the car. Harry told him where to go, and soon we were on your way. My seat belt was yet to be put on as I was completely glued to the view outside. The city was so beautiful; the tower was coming into sight as we drove near the hotel. I watched as it lit up, lights spinning at the top.
“We’re going there, tonight.” Harry whispered as he slid closer to me.
I turned to face him, our noses almost touching. “Really?”
I nodded, kissing me quickly before resting his chin on my shoulder.
I smiled, looking back out the window. Nearing the hotel I could barely believe my eyes at how tall it was. It looked beautiful, and extremely expensive. I looked at Harry who only kissed my cheek in a sweet response. The car pulled up, and Harry paid the driver before we got out and got out bags out from the trunk. I rolled my bag behind me as I followed Harry inside, keeping quiet as he went to the front desk to get our room key. I looked around the lobby; the marble flooring sparkled from the lights above. The gold paint lined the white borders perfectly. A fish tank was set on the wall. I walked up to it, leaving Harry at the desk as I looked at all the fish swim around their large tank. The tranquil sound of the small fountain flowing around the tank was a beautiful noise, putting me as ease.
I was still upset. I couldn’t immediately be happy after everything I had come to full realization with at dinner tonight, but I was going to make a great effort to hold myself together. For Harry.
“Amy.” He called from behind me.
I turned away from the fish, meeting his gaze as he nodded for me to follow him. I quickly walked to his side, going into the elevator with him before he hit the floor number. 15. I looked up at him, smirking as I shook my head. He would get a room on the top floor, he always did. Faster than expected the doors opened, and surely, we were on the 15th floor. I ran out of the elevator, skipping down the hall with my bag rolling behind me.
“Amelia, our room is this way.” Harry laughed.
“I knew that, I was just kidding.” I blushed, turning around and following Harry again.
I kicked his bag as it rolled behind him, causing him to turn and scowl at me. I giggled doing it again, and then running up beside him. He laughed, bumping his hip to mine as we carried on down the hall.
Finally we reached our room at the end of the hall, rushing to get inside; I pushed for Harry to quickly unlock the door. He complied, pushing it open for me to rush inside. I placed my bag down by the computer desk, before I got to the bed, lying on the soft sheets.
I let out a breath as I allowed the sheets to mold to my tired body, nearly falling asleep with each breath I took.
“Do you want to go out tonight?” Harry softly spoke as he sat beside me, rubbing my back.
I nodded my head, “Yes.”
I pushed myself up onto my elbows, looking over at the clock. It was now 8:30, and so I slid off the bed and walked to my suitcase. I took out warmer clothes and then walked into the bathroom to change. I yawned upon closing the door, turning and looking at myself in the mirror. I applied a small amount of make up before stripping off and changing, taking a last glance at myself before getting out. I threw my old clothes into my suitcase as I passed by, and then went to Harry on the bed.
“Get up, get up.” I poked at his sides.
He groaned, opening his eyes and looking at me. His arms opened up to me, fingers motioning for me to go in. I lay down onto his chest, his arms wrapping around me as I inhaled his scent. My ear pressed to his chest, his heart beat filling the entirety of my thoughts.
“Are you ready?” His chest vibrated from under me, “We should go before it’s too late.”
I pressed myself closer to him, humming in response. “Let’s go.”
Sitting up, we shared a quick kiss before getting out jackets and heading out. We were close enough that we could walk to the tower, and so, that’s what we did. Hand in hand, Harry and I walked through the cold dark winter towards the nearing Eiffel tower. He’s told me about how beautiful it was at night, but I had never believed it would be so breath taking in person.
The side walk was lined with clean cut bushes, and chain fences. The street lights shone off Harry’s face as we laughed and talked together, making him that much more stunning. I couldn’t believe he did all this for me. He did all this planning for me. He was such a kind giving soul; my Harry was a beautiful being. Both physically and emotionally, he would do absolutely anything to please someone else, leaving himself last.
“I really love you.” I spoke without thinking. “A lot.” I added.
He wrapped his arm around my back, bringing me towards his side as he kissed the top of my head. “I love you so much more.” He mumbled.
His grip on my hand slightly tightened as we entered a small alley way, the last part of out walk until we reached the tower. Our footsteps echoed through the confined space, keeping our pace quick as we neared the end. The light was shown at the exit, Harry and I sped only to stop a few steps out. The tower was even better looking up front; small details were shown through the lights lining the metal structure, bringing me to an utter awe. We walked closer, now getting as close as possible. A top light beamed around the sky above, cancelling out all stars that would be shown otherwise.
“Wow.” I whispered, gazing up.
Harry’s arm came to hold my back, the both of us examining the tower before us. I couldn’t explain how I felt at this moment, it seemed as though I was briefly taken into a deep state of astonishment. Everything around me stopped, my sights completely fixed in front of me.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” I heard Harry softly speak. “I should have proposed right here.”
I looked away from the tower, now looking up at him, shaking my head. “No.” I giggled. “The kitchen was much more beautiful than this.”
“You’re beautiful.” He kissed my head.
I scoffed. “You, though.”
We ended up walking to an empty bench after walking around the tower, sitting and watching as couples just like us stood and stared at the tower, hand in hand.
For a moment, I forgot about everything. I forgot about Harry Styles the world famous singer, I forgot about tours and shows and awards. I forgot. And in that moment I realized just how normal we are. I thought about the Harry Styles I have the pleasure of waking up next to every morning, the Harry Styles that is more to me than just a member of a famous band, more to me than the awards lining the shelves of our home with his name engraved in gold at the bottom. The relationship that meant more to me, than anything else. But more times than not, we were seen as an item, as the couple of the year. But to me, what was seen in the bright lights and the bold titles of magazine covers meant absolutely nothing.
And in that very moment, I wished we could actually be normal in reality.
But in actuality we weren’t normal, we were far from normal. I think you draw the line of normal when people line the curb of your house every day, waiting for a single glimpse of you. When going to the store is proven a bad idea once word gets out. Our normal was exactly that. The acute privacy we seemed to hold consisted of things the public wouldn’t even care about, things no one would bother writing about.
I could write a whole book on the little things, the things that happen behind the closed doors of our home.
“What are you thinking about?” Harry’s voice cut me out of my thoughts. Thankfully.
I shook my head, “Nothing important.”
“I think people have noticed us.” He whispered in my ear, “Look.”
He nodded his head towards the pavement beside us, a small group now forming, and phones in hand. I would assume in the dim street lights we would go unnoticed, but somehow someone found out we were here.
And it begins.
I cursed under my breath, “Why does this always happen?” I shook my head, looking down.
“I’m sorry.” Harry took my hand in his. “I really am.”
“This isn’t your fault, don’t feel guilty.” I pressed, looking up at him.
The talking behind us grew louder, lights began flashing and before I knew it the bench was crowded. I didn’t look, I didn’t want to. Harry spoke with some of them, the ones who could speak English. I took my hand to my forehead, blocking the lights off from my eyes as I looked down at my phone. I was disconnecting from the chaos that was forming around my once peaceful and beautiful night.
Photos of Harry and I had already made it onto popular websites, not like I wasn’t expecting it anyways. Soon the crowd got extremely big, and we always seemed to be caught in situations like this without a bodyguard. This was bound to be exciting. A few minutes passed before Harry whispered in my ear,
“We need to go.”
I didn’t respond verbally. Taking my phone and placing it back into my pocket, we both stood up. I held onto Harry’s arm, still looking down as we attempted to maneuver through the crowd. I would occasionally smile and wave to the people calling me, but other than a few candids, I’m positive the photos were only of Harry and my hair.
We tried to get away from the crowd, but coming to the tower on foot, there really was no easy exit. The number of people lessened as we got further out, but my anxiety seemed to rise with the continuous questions being thrown at us. One had even shouted in broken English if we were engaged.
My hand slid up into my sleeve, keeping the ring hidden. We had decided not to tell the public just yet, deciding to only tell them when the time was right.
“How far is this hotel?” I groaned as we speed-walked through the sidewalk. I looked past the people surrounding us, searching for our hotel.
“A few more minutes, love.” Harry assured me as he slipped his arm down mine to get a hold of my hand.
Harry talked with the men around us; he always was so polite to them. I knew if it was only me I would be yelling at them by now, probably flipping off their cameras and ultimately setting a bad example for myself. But the heat of the moment always did seem to get the better of me, and I found it extremely hard to keep quiet around them.
I looked up again, hoping to see our hotel nearby. Thankfully it was only a block down, only a few more minutes of this.
Without a single warning, one of the men jumped out in front of me, his camera pointed extremely close to my face. I gasped at the sudden contact, letting go of Harry’s hand and grabbing the man’s camera, aiming it down.
“You almost hit me in the fucking face.” I pointed out, keeping his camera in my grasp.
“Amelia.” Harry grabbed my arm, pushing me aside. “Watch where you’re going, man!” He pushed the man’s chest as he spoke, his eyebrows furrowing down.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” The man defended, stepping back.
I shook my head, turning and walking down the sidewalk again. Harry jogged up beside me, taking my hand in his.
“Did he hit you?”
I shook my head, turning to look around. We were obviously still being followed, the man who almost hit me walking along with the group. I groaned, pushing my hair off my shoulder and onto my back as I looked back at Harry.
“Don’t make a scene.” He whispered.
I scoffed, “I’m not.”
“You almost did.” He spoke slowly, looking at me. “almost.”
Upon entering the hotel, I wanted nothing more than to relax. I wanted to go to bed and sleep really, but I wanted to stay up with Harry.
Under the covers, we stay tangled with each other. Our chests pressed together as my head rested on his shoulder. We were silently speaking with each other. This is something I could do for the rest of my life.
“I have to tell you something.” Harry whispered.
My eyes remained shut as I whispered back, “Tell me.”
His fingers ran over my spine, sliding to draw small circles onto my shoulder.
“We’re going on another plane tomorrow night.” He rushed, “To Australia for another surprise.”
“Australia?”
Harry nodded, his lips pressing to the top of my head. I pushed out of his hold, covering my bare chest as I looked up at him questionably. I pressed for him to elaborate, but I was only granted small details, which indirectly stated this was a big deal.
“Alyssa is there right now, and all the boys, your mom as well as some other surprise people.” He nodded, pushing some hairs behind my ear. “It will be good, I promise you.”
“Why do you always do this?” I softly asked, my hand going to caress his cheek.
He spoke slowly, “Do what?”
“All of these things for me, they’re so caring but, why?” His eyebrows furrowed.
“I want you to see how much I love you, Amelia.” His forehead rested on mine. “Because I love you more than I could ever express any other way.”
“I already know.” I whispered, looking him directly in the eye. “You don’t need to show me through material things, I already know.”

The next morning, Harry and I went out for breakfast, and for the first time in a long time- we weren’t noticed. The café was small and isolated in a very small town we had taken a taxi to, the scenery changed to a village type of setting as we passed through the big city. It reminded me of Harry’s home town, small and clean but very charming. The café was warm and welcoming, the waitress speaking English with us, in a very beautiful French accent.
After we had eaten breakfast we took to the streets, a body guard now following far behind us. We walked to a nearby park, sitting in the middle of the lush green field. A breeze of cold winter air softly whipped my hair around my face as we sat down on a dry patch, admiring the view before us.
“I would marry you in a place like this.” Harry spoke as he looked around.
I followed his gaze to the almost frozen over lake, “So would I.” I agreed.
“When will we discuss this?” He looked at me.
I shrugged, “Why not right now?”
He smiled, moving his legs out in front of him. Taking me swiftly, I lay my head in his lap, looking up into his eyes.
HARRY’S P.O.V
Amy shut her eyes, “I want a long dress.” She almost whispered, her breath showed on the cold air. “A dress with diamonds along the top, and all down the bottom.” She confirmed, eyes still shut.
“What else?” I pressed, allowing her mind to take off in some blissful thoughts.
She opened her eyes, looking up at the sky now, her hair draped along my leg, eyes fluttering with the slight breeze.
“Somewhere beautiful, near mountains.” She gestured with her hands. “And an ocean.”
“And?”
“A big cake.” She nodded, smiling as she looked at me. “Chocolate, since it’s your favourite.”
I nodded, smiling back at her. Her excitement shone through her eyes, her white toothed smile as she continued on with her imagery. She must have thought of the upcoming day in such detail, having everything planned out right down to the cake. I couldn’t explain how badly I wanted her to be my wife, to be Mrs. Styles.
“We’ll have the biggest cake.” I nodded at her, holding back my smile. “It will be everything you’ve ever wanted, my love.”
I spoke truthful words when I told her that the wedding would be everything she wanted, I knew she had always wanted a dream wedding- as much as she hated to admit to it. Amy was a mystery. She always had a mysterious type to her, she had a chameleon soul. But it seemed to be the thing I adored most about her. It was her nature that pleased me most.
“Do you think we’ll be in love forever?” Her voice was soft in the breeze.
In love forever. I knew we would, I would always love her more than anything else, even myself. If the day ever comes, where Amy and I go our separate ways- I know I will never be able to love one as passionately and deeply as I do Amy. I love her, I love her.
“Of course we will.” I answered, my confidence in the answer was shown through my high posture. I knew we would, I knew it.
She took in a breath, “What if you leave me.”
It was more of a statement than a question, as if she was expecting something to crumble in our near or far future. I knew, I knew very well I could never leave her.
“I would never.” I shook my head, placing a soft hand on her chin and turning her to face me. “Never.” I widened my eyes.
She nodded, I assumed my broad statement was taken more as a promise, but I had intended for it to be either way.
“Do you want to go for a walk? See some things before we head off?” I switched the topic; there was no need for an explanation or any further discussion on our future relationship. I knew very well how it would play out, or so I hoped.
“First let’s go find a bathroom.” She sat up slowly, taking in a breath.
I offered her a hand as I stood up, helping her beside me before linking our fingers. Her hair blew in the wind as she leaned against me while we made our way to the sidewalk in silence, a beautiful silence.
Three hours passed by as we toured through Paris, remaining hidden for the most part. We took more photos than necessary. We were the typical tourists. Amy’s face shone as she smiled in each of our photos, seeing as many land marks as we could before we had to go back to the hotel to rest before our 13 hour flight to Australia. The plans for Amy’s party were thoroughly planned out, right to the finest detail. She was bound to love it, I knew she had to. Her mother and I with the help of Alyssa spent almost 3 weeks planning and getting invitations sent out to the guests. It was going to be perfect, it just had to be.
Running through the thick crowd out front of the hotel, Amy and I laughed excessively as we entered the large glass doors. Now in a far better mood than last night, I was planning on keeping Amy happy for the rest of the day, and all through tomorrow.
“I need to pee.” Amy whined as we read that the elevator was broken. “I’m going to pee right here.”
I laughed, pushing my loose hair onto my head as I looked at her, “We can take the stairs.”
“We’re on the 15th floor.” She shook her head. “There’s a good chance I’ll pee on our way up anyway.”
She was so playful today, her sarcasm was something not many could understand, but upon being with her for so long, I understood it very well.
“I’ll carry you; I haven’t worked out in a while anyway.” I suggested, being completely serious.
She thought for a moment, “Will you really?”
I turned around, bending down. She giggled as she ran, jumping onto my back and holding my shoulders. I held her legs as we went to the stairwell and begun our- my 15 flight journey.
Amy laughed as we made our way onto the 5th floor, finding it amusing that I was actually carrying her the whole way. The things I do for this girl, I swear.
“I think you should shower once we get to our room, you’re going to smell gross.”
“Only if you shower with me.” I chuckled.
She placed a kiss to my cheek, then pressing her head into the crook of my neck. “Cheeky.” She laughed, “But not today.” She declined.
Finally we reached the 15th floor, and made it into our room. Amy threw herself off my back, rushing into the bathroom and slamming the door behind her. I took to the bed, checking my phone for any updates on the party set up. Her mum was now there, setting everything up for tomorrow night. She had texted me, saying everything was going as planned, and a weight was lifted off my shoulders. She sent a photo of the cake along with a small text. Dream catchers hung off some of the tears, her name slanted on the front. Just how we drew it.
“Go shower.” She said as she walked over to me, sitting on my lap. “I had a wonderful day.”
“So did I.” I smiled at her, placing a kiss on her lips.
She pulled back, furrowing her eyebrows at me. “Your lips are dry, Harold.” She ran a finger over my lower lip, “I’ll fix this.” She pecked my lips before hopping off me and going to her bag.
She came back with a little ball in her hand, twisting the top off to reveal what looked like a chap stick. I was apprehensive as she neared me, not knowing what it was. She came to me, straddling my lap as she lifted my chin. I pulled back slightly, causing her to softly laugh.
“What’s the matter?”
I took the ball into my hands, “What is it?”
“It’s for your lips, you need to shower and we need to sleep before the flight, give it back.”
I handed it back to her and she begun again, lifting my chin so she could get a better view. She slowly slid the ball over my lips. Her mouth parting as she concentrated on her smooth actions. She ran it over a few times, then rubbing it lightly in with her finger. She kissed me afterwards, holding my face in her hands as she looked at me.
“Beautiful.” She smiled. “Go shower.”
She got off me again, going back to her bag and trading the ball for a large sweater. She gave me a warning look, silently saying I needed to go and shower. I got up, taking clothes out of my bag and kissing Amy again before getting into the shower, taking in the steam that surrounded my body.
AMY’S P.O.V
We were granted 3 hours of sleep before we had to leave the hotel at 4:00, and get driven to the airport again. Saying I was tired would be an understatement, as I wasn’t sure how my eyes were even open, or how I was even able to walk. Harry seemed fine, leading me to where we needed to go before we boarded the same plane we came here on. Our stay in France was one I would gladly do over again; I would love to return with Harry. I knew we would, we simply had to.
My pillow was held tightly to my chest and my sun glasses covered my tired face. I could fall asleep right here of we weren’t in such a rush. Minutes later we were off to the plane, stepping on I was surrounded my familiar leather seats and soft blankets that called my name and offered me so much comfort.
“You’re a good kid, Harry Styles.” I mumbled as I patted his back.
Without another word I was off to my regular seat, my pillow in hand as I wrapped myself in the soft fur blanket. I watched as we took off, gliding high up into the clouded sky. I fell asleep with the anxiousness slipping around my veins; I was finally going to Australia with Harry. Everything I ever wanted was happening so quickly but I couldn’t want anything more at this very moment than 13 hours of sleep, and so I curled up and dreamt of the high seas and salty breeze of Australia.
I slept for 10 straight hours before I was wide awake. Harry was sound asleep beside me; the blanket was now covering the both of us. Sunglasses covered his face, slanting slightly as he leaned on the arm rest opposite me.
I watched the sky beneath the plane, small spurts of clouds hung below the blue. Being so high up, small islands were barely in view, but I still found some amazement in them. I took to my phone for the next 3 hours, passing time on social media websites and apps I had installed over the past months. Once we landed, it was light outside. I woke up Harry, softly shaking him until he sat up.
“Have we landed?” He asked his voice raspy and tired.
I nodded, kissing his cheek before pushing his hair off his face. “We should get going.” I said quietly.
“Right.” He nodded, standing up and stretching his arms. “Do you need to pee?” He smiled.
I placed my sunglasses on my face again, shaking my head as I wrapped the blanket around my cold body. “I already have.”
I walked up beside him as we carried our bags off the plane, my pillow held to my chest as the blanket draped in the air behind me. We walked to the inside of the airport, maneuvering through crowds without being discovered by other people, we went to the front, and then stopped.
“Louis and Alyssa are coming to get us.” He stated, looking out the glass doors. “They should be here any minute.”
I took a seat beside Harry as he refused to turn away from the door. I shivered under the blankets as the air conditioning was blasting right above me, blowing my hair in a cold wind around me. We remained waiting for 15 minutes before Louis and Alyssa came walking through the door. With Luna in her arms, Alyssa came straight to me.
“Amelia Lee!” She exclaimed, “Do you know how hot it is out there? And you’re wrapped in a fur blanket.”
“It’s so cold in here.” I spoke through a tight jaw, “I was on that damned plane for 13 hours, and I could have died.”
She laughed, “Well you didn’t die.”
I mimicked her response as I went in for Luna, picking her up into my arms. I asked Alyssa to hold my blanket, after her nagging for 5 minutes I wasn’t about to walk out into the hot weather with a fur blanket hanging off my shoulders.
“Amy it’s your birthday!” Alyssa shouted in realization.
I had forgotten myself, the time change had led me to believe it wasn’t for another day. “Oh shit.” I looked back at her; a smile was now spreading on my face.
“Guess who’s getting drunk tonight?” Alyssa sarcastically asked.
Harry turned around, looking at me with a knowing expression. I laughed, turning to Alyssa and shaking my head. “Not me.”
“You’re 21; don’t tell me you’re being conservative.”
“I’m being so conservative.”
We made it to the rental car. Harry took my bag and put it into the trunk as I handed Luna off to Alyssa to put her into the car seat. Harry and I took to the back seats as Alyssa and Louis went upfront. I watched as Luna woke up, her eyes looking in every direction as she found herself in the small vehicle. She didn’t fuss. I had never seen her cry- with the exception of being hungry or needing a change, she was very quiet.
Harry’s hand went into the car seat, rubbing his thumb over her small cheek as he greeted her. Her eyes darted to Harry, looking up at him as he spoke to her in a higher pitched voice. I laughed as his change in manner.
Pulling up to the hotel, my head was slowly tilting up to look at the tall building. It resembled the hotel we stayed in whilst in Paris, but was a few floors higher.
“This place is massive.” Louis spoke, pulling into a parking spot. “And obviously Harry got us all on the top floor.”
I looked over at him, tilting my head as I shot a glare. “Did you really?”
“I really did.” He reworded my question, smiling at me.
We all got out after that. Harry took it upon himself to carry Luna into the hotel, cradling her in his arms. Alyssa, Louis and I took the bags and followed Harry into the elevator and onto the top floor. We all flowed into our hotel room, settling in and chatting with each other.
I didn’t speak with Louis. I hadn’t even exchanged a hello with him when I arrived, and I knew that I most likely wouldn’t talk to him unless I had no other choice. I hated talking to him, I hated him.
A knock was sounded at the door, and I immediately shot up to answer it. Pulling it open, the rest of the boys were crowding the way, smiling widely as I came in view.
“Happy birthday!” They all shouted, attacking me once the door was fully opened. “We missed you, pretend you missed us.”
“I missed you!” I cooed as I pulled away, patting each on the cheek before allowing them in.
“Your mum is in the room 2 doors down, you should go see her.” Liam suggested, “She’s been waiting on you.”
I looked over at Harry. He stood from his spot and made his way over, greeting the boys just as I had moments before.
“Will you come with me?” I asked, holding his hand in mine.
He kissed my cheek, “We’ll be back in a few.” Harry informed the crowd on our bed before we took to the door, and went straight into the hall.
Two doors down wasn’t very far, getting to her door just as ours closed. I knocked a couple of times, stepping back with my hand in Harry’s as I awaited an answer. I admired the paintings on the walls as I patiently stood at her door. The paintings were large, held in a black shining frame which didn’t match what was held inside them at all. Beautiful pictures of women with long flowing hair, and tall glasses of wine sat between the borders.
“Hello.” A male voice spoke from behind me. It was unfamiliar.
I turned, meeting the eyes of a man I had never met before. “I must have the wrong room I’m-,”
“Amelia! You’ve arrived already?” My mother walked up from behind him.
I was far passed confused. I was lost for words at this point, but I didn’t let it get the best of my mind. They must have just been friends, that’s all.
“Um, yeah.” I forced a smile at her.
I looked up at Harry, who also looked down at me. We shared a common expression.
“Come in, we have some things to go over.” She moved to the side, allowing us in.
I didn’t look at the man who stood at her side, but I did look at the one beside me. We went to the couch and sat down beside each other, our fingers linking as she came and sat across from us with that man. I had a bad feeling about this. Two suit cases lined her wall beside me. Two suitcases two people.
“This is Shane, Amelia.” My mother began. I glared at her as she continued, “Shane, this is my daughter Amy.”
“So nice to meet you, Amelia.” He smiled as he stuck out his hand to me.
I declined, “Likewise.” I nodded towards him.
My mother cleared her throat as a small sign for me to behave- but she didn’t control me anymore. “And this is Harry, her fiancé.” She continued.
Harry didn’t decline like I had. Being as polite as he is, he was first to offer his hand out to this man Shane. I didn’t approve.
“Pleasure.” Harry smiled at him, then turning to me.
He squeezed my hand as my mother began again. I knew what was coming.
“It’s been a while since your father and I divorced,” She started, her eyes held no expression, no desire to elaborate in any way. I silently asked for her to go on and tell me every detail. “And so I thought I should, you know, start seeing people.”
“Right.” I blankly answered.
She looked between me and Harry before turning to Shane. I held back my scowl. “Shane and I are together. We have been for almost three months now.”
I glared at her again, releasing my hand from Harry’s as I sat forward a little more. “I don’t think I heard you correctly.” I furrowed my eyes. “Three months?”
She nodded her discomfort showing as she did so. Shane’s hand went to hers, holding it in his as he rubbed his thumb over the back. I felt sick. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.” She apologized.
“And so you decided to tell me on my birthday?” I laughed. “Anything else you want to tell me?”
She shook her head, “No.” She silently answered me. I’ve never seen her so vulnerable. Maybe I liked to be in control, but the sense I had from this was one I never felt whilst around her. But above all the pleasure I had flowing in me, I was angry. Angry.
I held my composure, not wanting to make a fool of myself. It was my birthday day after all, and I wanted to enjoy it. “Is that all?” I asked, standing up from my spot.
She nodded her head. “I’m sorry.”
“Have a nice day.” I nodded, waving briefly as I walked out the door. I didn’t want to speak further on this; it wasn’t really my place to tell her what she can do. But I wouldn’t lie if she asked how I felt about it, because I was extremely hurt. I shouldn’t be, but I really am.
Harry followed behind me as I made my way into the hall. He grabbed my wrist, causing me to come to an immediate halt. I turned around to look at him, tears slowly finding a place in my eyes.
“I know.” He simply hushed me, taking me into his arms. “It’s bull shit, I know.”
I nodded, keeping my tears back as I swallowed hard. I didn’t want to be upset, not today.
“I’m fine.” I whispered, pulling back to look Harry in the eyes. “I’m just upset, but I’m fine.”
He placed his lips on mine, slowly and softly as she looked at me quickly. We simply kissed before our hands linked together again. Without a single word we went back into our room, and I had forgotten about what happened- for now.

Upon arriving in our room, Alyssa and I locked ourselves in the bathroom to get ready. I wore a black crop top and jeans. Alyssa and I talked while she did my hair, and then switched as I did hers. I missed spending time with her. We caught up, and I couldn’t believe how much I had missed out on.
Two hours later it was now almost 4:00 and we were all ready to go. We walked out of the room, and they boys were now all ready and waiting for us. Niall sat with Luna on his lap, and so I went directly to him.
“Luna!” I cooed as I knelt down before Niall.
She looked at me, her head bobbing as she attempted to hold it in place. I smiled at her before I held my arms out to her. She raised hers in response and I took her into my hold. I looked up at Harry as I held her, his phone was in his hand as he looked down at it, smirking at the screen. I stood up and went to the window, checking the weather before going back into the group.
Louis looked over at me. “The babysitter will be at my room in 10 minutes to get her.”
“You’re leaving her here?”
Alyssa and Louis nodded at my question, “It would be a bad idea to bring her.” Alyssa explained. “It’s too loud.”
I sighed, looking down at her as she peered up at me through thick lashes.
“I’ll go get her ready then, and we’ll be back.” Alyssa walked over to me, taking Luna into her arms and leaving with Louis.
I went to the bed, pulling back the sheets and getting under them. The room was silent before slight chuckling was heard from the foot of the bed.
“What?” I asked, looking over the thick duvet.
Zayn shrugged, “Aren’t you excited for your party? You’re 21 you can get drunk now.”
“Not getting drunk.” I mumbled as I shook my head.
Niall scoffed, “I’ll get drunk for you.”
The bed dipped beside me as my eyes remained shut. I felt a hand go to my side and rub it slowly up and down, stopping at my hip. I opened my eyes and saw Harry sitting there, not like I expected anyone else. He leaned down and kissed my cheek.
“Your mum is still coming to the party, love.” He whispered against my skin. “Try and be nice.”
I took in a deep breath, “I will.” I promised.
“We should get going now. People are already there, and you wouldn’t want to miss out.”
I laughed, “Miss out on my own party?”
He kissed my cheek again before nodding into my neck. We sat like this for a moment before he pulled me up, and walked with me on his side back to the group. A few minutes later Alyssa and Louis returned, and we all made our way to the reception. We all went in one car, and I’m sure the driver was getting frustrated with our loud voices bouncing off the confined space.
“You look beautiful.” Harry whispered in my ear before nudging my cheek with his nose.
My hand sat on his leg, “So do you.” I smiled.
He wore jeans and a plaid shirt. His hair was still damp from the shower he took a few hours before. He looked stunning; I adored this attire on him.
We separated ourselves from our private conversation and engaged in one with the others. We spoke for a long while before we made it to the party. Not too many people lined the front. The first thing I saw was a portrait of me sitting right at the front. It looked like a sketch of my album cover, and it was extremely beautiful. I gasped when I saw it, smiling as we lined the curb. Harry and I were the first to get out, and I immediately walked to the painting. I admired it as I stood before it, trying my hardest to compare it to the cover itself.
“Wow.” I whispered as I looked up at Harry. “Isn’t it accurate?”
He nodded his head, “I’m glad you like it.” He stuck his hand out to me, “We should go greet everyone now.”
I took his hand in mine as we walked with our friends into the reception. My eyes widened as we stepped inside. The lights were dimmed, and tables circled around a bar on the edge of the dance floor. The walls were brown and white, lights beamed down onto each table and on a small stage which held a magnificent cake.
I squeaked as I walked further in, looking at the cake. “This is so beautiful!” I turned to Harry. “You did so well, thank you so much.”
I cupped his face in my hands and planted a kiss on his lips. It lingered for a moment before a pulled away and pecked him again. A smile shone on his face as he witnessed my reaction. I knew he was proud of himself.
“Turn around, my love.” Harry whispered.
I followed instruction without questions. A group of my friends and some family gathered behind me, at the front of the group was my Nana. My hands went to my chest as I released Harry, and I walked straight to my Nana. Bending my knees slightly to get to her height, I greeted her with a warm hug.
“I missed you.” I cried into her shoulder.
She rubbed my back kindly, “I missed you too, sweet heart.” She almost laughed. “Happy birthday, baby.”
I pulled back, looking at her as I wiped away my stray tears.
“You look stunning.” She nodded at me.
“Thank you.” I smiled at her.
The group behind her cheered as I stood fully. They clapped and shouted as I looked at all of them. Harry came behind me, placing his hand on the small of my back as I smiled up at him. I nuzzled my head into his side as the music played up on the stage.
I turned to Harry, my arms finding a smooth way to his neck as I looked into his eyes. “Thank you.” I said again, “I love you.”
“I love you.” He smirked as he leaned down to my neck, lightly kissing my sensitive skin.
I giggled lightly as I held his jaw, keeping him in his place. He pulled back and kissed me hard before I pressed myself closer to his warm body.
I stood admiring his features as a light above shone down his face.
“Amy.”
I turned around, still in Harry’s grasp, and met the timid gaze of my mother. “Happy birthday.” She smiled at me, Shane at her side.
“Thank you.” I nodded. “Thank you for coming.” I softly said to Shane.
He placed an arm around my mother as he nodded towards me, a forced smile playing on his beard covered face. I examined him further, and maybe I was just uneasy with his physical appearance, but something definitely made me uneasy.
We spoke for a while longer, me playing my ‘I’m not mad at you’ game the whole way through, which went unnoticed by my oblivious mother. An hour later was when they decided to leave me be, and disappear into the crowd. I watched the way Shane held my mother, the way he looked at her.
It was nothing like the touch or look of my father.
He looked at my mother like she was his entire world, almost the way I looked at Harry. Shane looked at my mother like she was a bag of money. And that was exactly what she was to him. Money.
“Amelia, dance with me.” Harry whispered into my ear. “Stop thinking about them.”
I turned to him, rubbing my thumb over his cheek bone gingerly. “I can’t dance.”
“Please.” He rubbed his nose to mine. “You look so beautiful.”
I pulled out of his grasp, stepping back and running my hands down my sides, watching his eyes as they followed my every move.
“Don’t tease me Amelia; I would take you right here if there weren’t people.”
I laughed, “Right here?”
He nodded his head, his tongue tracing the expanse of his lips as he walked towards me. “You know how much I love you,” He started. “Especially in this attire.”
“Dance with me.” I mimicked his proposal, taking him to the dance floor with me.
A slower song came on as we stepped onto the hardwood. My hands went to his neck, his to my hips as we swayed to the music. The piano solo was what brought Harry closer to me, his eyes looking into mine so deeply I could barely blink without missing his sight. I watched as he looked at me, his eye lashed fanned out each time he took a quick desperate blink.
“I love you.” He said again, reminding me many times throughout our short trip. “Forever and ever.” He ended.
My lips ghosted over his before I questioned, “Forever?”
He nodded, pressing his lips to mine in a soft gesture. “More than you will ever know.”
I shut my eyes, imagining the green of Harry’s eyes in my mind as they were temporarily absent from my view. Forever and ever, He said to me. Forever and ever played in my head until the music ran dry.
I love him, forever and ever- and ever.
