fifty-three

“Being in there for three days was driving me crazy.” Alyssa sighed as she placed Luna into the car seat.

I helped her place the bags into the trunk of her car, as well as all the gifts she had received from friends and family. The back of the car soon became packed and we spit into our separate cars. Louis and Alyssa were dropping Luna off at our house as they were going to shop for their last minute supplies.

We drove back home, with Alyssa and Louis following right behind us. Harry talked about his worries for taking care of her newly born baby, and I constantly reassured him that it would be okay.

“What if I hurt her or something?”

“Harry, you aren’t going to hurt her.” I said as I rubbed his hand.

He looked unsatisfied with my quiet words, shaking his head as his eyes remained on the road ahead. We were now a block away from our home, and Harry’s nerves were starting to rise.

“I can guarantee nothing will happen to her, Harry. They have so much trust in us, we’ll be alright.”

He nodded as he took my hand to his mouth, leaving soft kisses to the top. He released my hand as he used both hands to turn into the driveway. He turned off the car, leaning over to my cheek and planting a kiss on it. My hand rose up to his neck, keeping him steady as I turned to kiss his lips. My lips dipped to the corner of his mouth before I pulled back, a smile plastered on my face and I looked down to unbuckle my belt. I got out of the car, leaving Harry smirking at me, and went to Alyssa’s car. Louis had gotten out, leaving Alyssa in the warm confines of the car as he took out the carrier seat and handed Luna to me. I covered her up as he made his way back to grab the diaper bag, handing it to Harry as he came up from behind me.

“Be careful with her!” Alyssa shouted as we walked up the steps to the house.

“Always!” I shouted back as I paired a wave.

I turned back to Harry who was pressing the code into the door, “Harry hurry up its cold out.”

He quickly pressed in the numbers, and the door clicked open. He pushed it open, stepping inside to give me room as I carried the baby in the large carrier seat. I sighed as I kicked off my shoes, and walked to the living room.

Ruffles ran up beside me as I placed the seat down, pulling the blanket off the top to expose a fully awake Luna.

“Hiii.” I quietly cooed as I unbuckled her from the seat, placing her on the seat beside me as I got her blanket out, and wrapped her in it to keep her warm.

I was surprised at how quiet she was. Ruffles got onto the couch, and sat beside me as I rubbed the cheeks of the baby in my lap. Harry walked in, moving Ruffles to the floor as he took a seat beside me. He rested his head on my shoulder as his hand went towards Luna, taking her small land in his. She curiously peered over at Harry, no true emotion was shown as she was still far too young, but I knew if she could feel anything towards Harry it would be Love. The way he softened as he came around her, was something that I had grown to adore over the past few days, forgetting about all the harsh moments Harry had as he completely melted before her.

“When do we feed her?” Harry asked.

“Soon, they fed her 2 hours ago.”

“When do we know when to feed her…?”

“How about we feed her in 10 minutes.”

Harry nodded and continued to hold her small hand.

“It must be so lovely to have a baby.” I blurted out.

I mentally cursed as I thought out loud, but contained myself on the outside.

“Do you think so?”

“Yeah.” I nodded as I looked over at him. “It’s two people put together, it has to feel nice.”

“That’s true.”

I kept my sights down at Luna, fully taking her in. I could almost tell that when she grew up she would be stunning. Her parents were beautiful, sad to say, but Louis was a well-built man. I hoped that she would grow to be like him, at least take in his traits. As much as Louis was annoying and dishonest at times, he had a calming part to him, as well as a funny part.

Before all of the drama happened between us all, I would depend on Louis to make me happy when I needed it. The first thought that came to mind was when he tried to save me from Harry’s rage after Alyssa and I came back late from our dinner. That’s the Louis that I wish was still here, but that’s the Luna I wished she’d grow up to be.

Harry had gotten up to prepare her milk, and I remained seated with Luna. I crossed my legs under me as I placed her in between. Small noises escaped her mouth as she curiously looked around the living room. Ruffles released a bark, causing her to start crying.

I scolded him as I took her into my arms in an attempt to calm her. I rubbed her back as I began to hush her light cries before I placed her back down to cradle her again. I continued to calm her as I rocked back and forth, placing my hand on her chest lightly to offer some comfort.

Harry walked back in with a small bottle and handed it out to me.

I shook my head, “You feed her.”

“I don’t know how.”

“I’ll show you.”

He took a seat beside me, and I turned to place her in his arms again. I took his hand that was holding the bottle and led it up to her mouth, rubbing it over her lip to get her to open her mouth.

“Just keep it there until she’s done.” I said once the bottle slipped into her mouth.

Harry nodded as he watched her drink the milk slowly. His lower hand lightly rubbed her side as she lay looking up at Harry. His lips slowly curved into a small smile. I took out my phone and took a photo of them, applying it as my background before placing my phone back into my pocket.

I watched as Harry silently freaked out quietly gasping as he looked over at me. He began to sing to Luna, which is what I was waiting for this whole time. He softly sang little things to her, causing her eyelids to flutter closed and release the bottle from her mouth.

“You need to wake her up.”

“Why?”

“So she can burp, or else she can throw up and choke.” I pressed.

Harry poked at her cheeks and legs to wake her up. Once she was awake he handed her to me, and I took on the role of burping her. I was lucky that she didn’t throw up on me during this. I placed her down into my arms again before I looked up at Harry, eyes wide.

“We need to change her diaper.”

“That’s a one person job.” He pointed at me.

“I’ll teach you, Harold.”

I placed Luna into his arms again, and led his up into the bathroom, grabbing the diaper bag on the way up. Harry complained about the smell on the whole way up, saying that he’d throw up if I made him clean it up. I didn’t give it, saying that he had no choice.

We placed blankets onto the counter, creating a soft surface for her. Harry placed her down and I began to undress her, explaining to Harry what he would be doing.

“How do you know what to do?”

“I used to babysit when I was younger.” I nodded at him.

Luna sat in her diaper, and that’s when I allowed Harry to take lead. I instructed him through the whole thing, gags escaping his mouth as he cleaned her.

“I can’t do this.” He choked.

I couldn’t contain the laughs escaping me lips as he tried to conceal his discomfort, causing me to sit on the rim of the tub to calm myself down. Harry finally finished off, dressing her quickly before she could get too cold.

I congratulated Harry on his accomplishment as we went into our bedroom to put Luna to sleep.

Alyssa and Louis had come to get Luna shortly after I fell asleep with her. Harry came into our room after handing Luna off to Alyssa, and woke me up. He peppered kisses on my cheek and down my neck, ending on my lips. My eyes opened slightly as I brought my hands up to cover my face.

“Wake up I’m lonely.” He pouted as he took my hands off my face.

“I’m awake.” I mumbled as I sat up.

Harry took me into his arms, shifting me over onto his lap. My legs went around to his back as I rested my head on his shoulder.

“I can’t wait to have children with you.” He said into my neck.

I leaned back, giving him a confused look as his arms draped to my bag, holding me up.

“What?”

“I can’t wait to have children with you.” He repeated to me.

“You- you want to have children with me?”

“Of course.” He nodded.

“Not for a very long time.” I smirked.

“Is the feeling mutual?”

“Of course!” I nodded. “I would love to have children with you, Harry. I would do anything with you.”

“I’ve never felt like this with anyone else.” He shook his head as he softly spoke to me.

My hands went to his neck, placing my forehead onto his.

“Neither have I.” I whispered.

I knew I felt for Harry like I never had with anyone else. I was happy that I had my first with him; I couldn’t imagine ever doing such things with anyone else. I was completely sure of myself when it came to talking or even thinking of him, he made me fully aware of everything, if that was even possible. I could see myself with Harry for a very long time; I knew that I wanted to start a little family with him, that I wanted to experience new things with him.

“Are you hungry?” I switched the topic.

Harry shook his head, no.

“Let’s have a tea.” I nodded. “Just let me change quickly.”

Harry nodded as I went into the closet and changed into comfortable clothes, fixing my hair in the mirror after slipping the thick hoodie over my head. I looked at myself one last time before I emerged from the closet.

“I’ll be back.” I smiled.

“Go on.” Harry pressed as he waved me off.

I turned and left the room, looking back and flipping him off, causing him to chuckle.

I went down the stairs, shutting some blinds and turning on the lights as it was now getting dark outside. I walked into the living room, pulling the large curtains closed as I clicked on the small lamps on the corner tables.

I turned on the lights in the kitchen, and filled the kettle with water, placing it on the stove top and waiting for it to boil.

I thought about everything Harry had opened up to me about, his want for children especially. I couldn’t help but feel the same way; I knew that I also wanted the same as him. I wanted to stay with him. I didn’t know what I would do with myself if I ever lost him, if he ever lost me. It was a thought I’d rather not think of, I’d rather think about my luck, how I had Harry to myself, how he had me to himself. That’s the way I wanted it to stay.

I stood in front of the stove as the water boiled, scrolling through the photos on my phone to pass some time. I smiled at the photos Harry and I had taken on planes, and on his tour. My favourite picture sat as the first photo on my camera roll, being the photo of Harry sound asleep on my chest. Although it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It never failed to make me smile though; knowing that sense of safety and love that came with holding Harry in the middle of the night, and waking up in is arms again.

The kettle screeched and I lifted it off the stove, pouring the water into our tall mugs. I put the kettle back down, going into the cupboard to get the tea bags. I reached up, grabbing the box ad placing it down beside the cups, taking out two bags and placing them into our cups.

I watched the colour seep into the water, expanding and filling the cups with tea.

“That didn’t take too long.” Harry said as he wrapped his arms around me from behind.

“Not long at all.”

“You know I love you right?”

“Yes, I know.” I smiled.

“I love you so much, Amelia. I couldn’t ever see myself with anyone else because you’re all I want, you’re all I ever wanted since I laid eyes on you. I can be with you every day for the rest of my life and not complain, because even being in the same room as you just makes me so happy.” He said as he pressed kisses to the back of my neck. “I love you more and more each day.”

I giggled as he hit a sensitive spot in my neck, turning around as I swung my arms around his neck, kissing his lips.

Harry pulled away and let go of my hips, going into his sweater pockets.

“I was going to be romantic and wait until Australia to do this, but now just feels so right-“

I furrowed my eyebrows as I gave him a confused look, he didn’t break eye contact as be brought his hands up in between us. I looked down; a small ring box was held in his large hands. My mouth fell open slightly, my hand coming up to cover it up as I looked back up at him.

“Harry.” I whispered.

A shy smirk lay on his lips as he knelt down before me, opening the ring box to expose the beautiful diamond ring.

“Will you marry me, Amelia?”

Tears brimmed in my eyes as I looked down at him; a smile broke onto my face as my hands fell to my chest, my face turning upwards. I knew what I wanted, and what I wanted was Harry. All I wanted was Harry.

“Yes, Harry. Yes.” I smiled down at him, wiping the tears from below my eyes.

A smile came onto Harry’s lips as he jumped up, taking me into his told as I wrapped my arms tightly around his torso, lightly crying into his sweater as he kissed the top of my head. His hands fell to my back, holding me tightly as he whispered his love to me.

“Your heart is beating so fast.” I lightly laughed as I held his heart beat on my cheek.

“I was so nervous that you’d say no.” He breathed.

I pulled away, bringing my hand up to his neck and pulling him down to me, connecting our lips in a desperate kiss. I pressed as close to Harry as I could, breaking off the kiss as we both began to laugh.

Harry turned to the counter, taking the ring out of the box and taking my left hand in his. He took the infinity ring off the finger, slipping on the beautiful sparkling ring onto my finger, followed by the infinity ring to secure it. The diamonds sparkled as I moved my hand towards the light, the two very important rings Harry had given me sat on the same finger, holding such love and sincerity.

I raised my hand a little higher as I took in the ring on my finger, still completely in shock.

“Harry-Harry it’s so beautiful.” I smiled as I shook my head. “I love you so much.”

“I love you so much more, Amy.” Harry said as we connected out lips again.

He pulled away again and took his hands to my face, using the pads of his thumbs to wipe my tear stained cheeks.

“I have one condition.”

“What’s that?” Harry asked as he rubbed his thumb over my cheek.

“We need to be engaged for a year before the wedding, the tour and travelling is going to be too stressful for us to plan.”

“I agree.” He nodded kissing me again. “I’m just so happy you said yes.”

He rested his forehead on mine as we looked at each other for a few moments, both still in shock at the event that had just taken place.

“The tea is getting cold.” I smirked.
