The Farrier
If'n ye don't know the difference between a star an' a stripe 'n a blaze
Or 'twixt a palomino 'n a buckskin
Then mebbe i won't be able to 'splain this to ye rightly
But my pa tol' me I should be a farrier
On accounta a farrier has always got work.
Once a man has such a trade it don't pass from him.
Pa said a farrier can work any time and with but little tools
And there's always work for a farrier
And the folks that hire 'em always has money.
It takes money to own livestock
And good money to own good stock.
An them thet take care o' their stock,
Well they's good employment.
So ah'm workin' here until such time as I kin be trained propper
Then I kin git me them tools.
Salves, too y'know. Ya need salves.
Then I kin make money fer my keep as I please
And then I kin be settled.
Then I'll have done what my pa told.
Then I'll be alright.
