The subtle art of lying....

The board entitled with the heading that intruiged all the cadets that entered the class one after the other ...

His eyes running back and forth towards the entering frames....searching for one of them in particular...

"Sir ...shall we begin..."ali shakes him out of his trance.....

"Some of you are yet to come ... isn't it cadet..."he inquired with a concern...

"Yes sir....Naina was on the feild...major nair ne use 10miles on the double punishment diya hai....she might not come on time..."Pooja speaks in...

"We should begin sir... I think she would be too exhausted to join the class.."ud reminds him...and he is torn between her and rest of them hoping that she arrives soon...

"Anyone else yet to come....cause what we are covering today is pretty important"he asks again..everyone nod in a negative...
"Alright I think we should begin then...."his eyes still glued towards the door....
She reaches panting ...
"I am sorry for being late sir..."she catches her breath...

"It's okay cadet Singh...step inside"he simply says hiding a look of relief...

Five of them pass each other an amused glare....his attitude sure enough has changed a great deal...particularly towards her...

"As interesting as today's topic of discussion seems.....I must assure you ...it's of a crucial need for a soldier to be able to lie with eloquence "he continues...

"Why sir..."ud asks excitedly..

"It's the contrary of what we have been thought....what our principles are.... aren't soldiers supposed to be truthful and loyal to their country"Ali's sincere yet naive statement makes him smile a bit....
"You are absolutely correct cadet baig.....what I am trying to teach you today might seem contrary to what you have been thought ..or more precisely thursted upon since the moment you have joined this academy or well before it.......but....practicality and survival skills can't be tought with help of a handbook.....these come with experience ...."he states..eyeing her..
"Being a soldier you might get caught up in many situations where lying becomes an absolute necessity to save your life. ...especially in cases you get caught and isolated from your batallion...or you are working in the enemy's feild...or spying against them..."he starts to elaborate...

"Enemy's land is full of invisible barbed wires and lasor beams...and only defense you have against it is your ability to subtely and believably tell a lie..."he is focused at her...and she gives an uneasy look....getting concious ....

"When trapped in such an environment where a single blooper could prove fatal ...you must know few things..."he speaks in a saucy tone.....
Here are some basic rules ...that will act as a guideline to lying with an ease...which might help you professionally as well as in many other feilds of life .."he winks....everybody giggle....

He scribbles a few pointers on the board.....

"1.Keep your lie simple. Include details that make your lie seem legitimate, but not so many that it becomes complicated. An elaborate lie means more details that you have to keep track of and can often mean more explaining. A simple, straightforward lie is easier to maintain.

2.Avoid including other people in the lie. Using someone as a witness or alibi makes your lie more complicated than it needs to be. If the person you lie to checks your alibi, they may find out you lied.

3.When you lie, only include information that is believable. Don't exaggerate to a point where the listener will start to question what you are saying. Make your lie as realistic as possible.

4.Include something truthful in the lie. Completely false lies may be more easily detected, but if you sprinkle truth into the lie it is more believable. Find a way to show proof that part of your lie is true to strengthen the lie as a whole

5.Lie before you have to. You can avoid lying under pressure by initiating the conversation about the subject you are lying about. Lie voluntarily before you are asked anything. The listener may not think you are lying since you volunteered the information."

After being done elaborating ..he eyes her.....
"You don't get second chances in a war....one time you fumble...that one moment you get subjected to the doubtful gaze of an enemy....that is the end of your game and your life .."
He wants her to be prepared for the upcoming psychoanalysis Dr Ritu is going to conduct over these cadets.
He knows she sucks at lying .and wouldn't survive her vicious lie detector analysis...moreover he knows her mere existence in this academy is a dangerous venture. If anyone gets to know her ties with a traitor. She won't survive a chance of a trial.....

she for the first time looks up ....with keen interest....
...his eyes sparkle as he witnesses her catching the signals he is trying to give.

"Keen observation skills, intuitiveness, the ability to assume false identities, secretiveness and specialized skill expertise all require a certain level of intelligence and these are the traits expected in a spy"

He turned towards the class to address them
And to observe her reaction

"don't run from ur fears; find ways to work around them. It's about controlling your fear, not letting the fear control you

She was listening thoughtfully and the way he gave her undivided attention for more than a brief moment she felt as if he is trying to convey something directly to her.

He winked with a smile making class smile back and girls felt butterflies in their stomach.

Being an expert in his field and having sharp knowledge about people he already knew the strength and weakness of his cadets....

Alekh was trapped in his addiction
But was clear head

Huda with a shade of narcissm in his personality
Still highly skillful and a friend in need

Puja distracted with her wishes and wants
But if triggered correctly can be very dedicated

Ali a man of principals always want to do the right thing
But lack flexibility when situation demands

Ud with high spirit and enthusiasm
Still sensitive and vulnerable

He knew all his cadets very well
Except one

He is never able to read her face
It's so difficult to draw an observation of her personality traits
It's so tough to know about her
How can a person be so secretive

Despite his training in human behavior he never met such a person who is so hard to decode

The only thing he know about her is that he know nothing about her.

Was this class a desperate attempt to know her apart from helping her to prepare for dr.mishra's lie detector test.

She stepped inside not sure why exactly he called her at this hour

As she came closer she saw him fidgiting with SWOT analysis sheets submitted by the cadets

She waited for him to finish with that page in his hand

"Apke batch mein 30 cadets hai par mere pas sirf 29 assignment aye...
Kya main Jan sakta hun ke apne apna SWOT analysis ka result submit kyun nahi Kiya"
He asked without lifting his head

She bit her lower lip and got anxious
Brushing her hairs with her fingers
Trying to figure out what to say

He said looking at her finally his vision intimidating but harmless.

"Actually forget it
Kyunki Sach ap bataengi nahi aur jhut apko bolna ata nahi hai"
He said with mockery in her tone offending her finally

"Apko aisa kyun lagta hai ke wo main hi hun jisne assignment submit nahi Kiya....
Koi aur bhi to ho sakta hai...."

She tried to look calm and non guilty

To which he smiled and saw her with more meaningful look
As if she is not at all convincing enough and she need to put more effort to this.
