another simple tutorial

    What's up guys?

For the past few months, I've taken to learning how to make covers with templates found on Google. Since I think I've finally gotten the knack for it, I thought I'd make a small tutorial showing how I make my simple template covers.

Firstly, go to gadots  and check out her tutorial's book if you're more into making a design on Superimpose. I suck at apps and just don't have the patience to make a cover on my phone. I rather use my computer, and have found a website I've told you all about before.

Without further ramblings, let's just get straight into it.

SIDE NOTE: If you need visuals, the previous chapter explains how to use befunky with step by step photos to get to what I'm about to explain in just words.

1 ‣    Load up befunky.com + go to designer

2 ‣    Go to templates, select blank templates, click on blog resources and grab the 800 x 1200 px option.

3 ‣    Go to image manager and load all your pictures along with template.

4 ‣    Here's the template I use for my more simple covers:

5 ‣   Obviously click + save it to your phone and or computer. Load it onto Image Manager, then drop into white box and stretch until it fills the entire canvas.

6 ‣   Now add which ever image you want in the center of the square. Preferably, make sure it has a black background so it blends extra nicely, unless you want a contrast. To add another image, move the template you just fit on the canvas a bit, or it will be deleted.

7 ‣   Once the second image has loaded (in this case the image of maryse), move your template back into place to fit the canvas again.

8 ‣   Click on the second image (Maryse) and in the Image Properties panel, go to where it says Blend Mode and click on lighten.

From there, adjust the image to your liking like so:

9 ‣   You've pretty much got your cover done here. This cover on its own is fine, and sometimes I prefer a very clean + sleek background. However, if you want to add a little pizzazz, here are some of my favorite overlays for black backgrounds:

10 ‣   To add an overlay as a background, load all the overlays you want to experiment back into image maker. Once again, move your template to drag and drop another image, in this case the filter overlay.

Like the previous steps, move your template back into place. Click on overlay image, go to blend mode, and lighten.

Stretch overlay to your liking. In this case, I'll even rotate it vertically as opposed to how it shows up (horizontally)  to fit more evenly.

Again, once it's stretched out to your liking, go to opacity and turn it down to fifty or however much you like. The lower the opacity the better you can see the image ( Maryse ). I do like an overlay, but I hate it when it disturbs TOO much of the focal image. Although, sometimes a high opacity makes for a good grungy feel. You do you.

Here's what the final results should look like:

To add text, well just go to the T on the panel and add whatever font you so wish. For my covers when using this template, I use these fonts:

Jellyka can be downloaded from dafont.com and Times New Roman is offered in BeFunky unde the OURS tab. Whatever you download appears on the YOURS tab.

╳ ╳

I hope this was helpful? If you need any clarification (s), let me know! Also, yes! BeFunky is free, and you don't need to make an account. Although, I suggest you do because you can save images + your work there.

Let me know if you want more tutorials, templates, overlays.
