When I pushed through the castle gated, my heart fell to the pit of my stomach. Hundreds of different demons scattered the area. Some spotted us, but others did not. Panic whipped through me, and turned to Kai, who eased my nerves a bit.

I ripped back his horns and began charging again. I steadied my bow and aimed at his head, but he came to fast. I ducked below the beast as he smashed again. I stared at his enraged, red eyes, and crawled away from under him while he was trying to remove his horns again. That's when I noticed the life source. There was a soul somewhere. It was weak, but I could feel it. Plants outside, farther away. I ran in the direction of a window and the bull chased me.

But it was too late. The vines whizzed past me, slamming into the bull. I smiled, content with my win, bit I continued without looking back.
