I jolted up and scanned the room. I was covered in a blanket and laying on...Kai. I twisted my body to check on Kai. His eyes were open, staring at me. His expression was serious as always, like nothing had changed. My body got tense and I quickly looked down.

I thought things would be different now. I mean... I didn't want change, but the same time I did. I didn't want thing a to be weird, but I wanted him to feel something... wait. Did I faint?

The memories began flooding back and I could vividly remember the wrenching pain in my head. The memory of it all made my stomach turn.

Suddenly I felt the soft feeling of skin graze my arm. I closed my mouth, which I noticed was slightly open, and took a hard swallow. Kai was trying to comfort me, but I don't know if there's much to do. Some force, most likely my powers, are preventing me from... kissing Kai.

"How are you?"

I didn't reply. What do you say to that? I'm absolutely miserable about what happened, but I don't want to bring Kai down with me. Two unhappy people doesn't do any good.

"Scarlet," he sighed. I was sensing a rejection speech. I knew it was too good to be true, to believe love would prevail. My life is a living hell, why would things turn out in my favor?

He scratched the back of his head, "I've... liked you for a while now," he paused. The words began to seep through my skin. He... likes me. I mean likes me, likes me. That's... wonderful.

"But...um, maybe we need to take it back a step while all this is happening. I think you were a little overwhelmed. We should wait, until we get back the castle ya know?"

I nodded, " I agree, it's just... I think it's my powers that made me faint like that."

Kai looked confused, and raised his cute little eyebrow at me. What a cute expression. God, you kiss someone and your whole point of view of them changes.

"You know how my powers have their own... consciousness. Well, when I ...kissed you, I heard a voice pounding in my head telling me to stop."

"Maybe."

"But, I want you to know it wasn't me," words began flying from my mouth, " and I can handle it. Because I have feelings for you, and I'm sorry for not finding them sooner."

Kai gave me a gentle smile, and kissed my forehead. Warmth filled my cheeks and I could feel my body aching to touch him. There was a longing for the feel of the smooth, pale skin, deep inside me, but I refuse to unearth it.

We both pulled back and for a moment, we gazed at each other, absorbing one another's souls and presence. The moment was....

Suddenly, I large ball of light came hurling at us. Kai toppled over me, dodging the flame by and inch. The heat was so powerful, it burned a small hole into the back of the cave. I immediately knew this presence.

A flaming red-head, drenched with rain stood on the outside of the cave, ember eyes blazing with the fires of revenge. Our gazes looked, and she gave attempted to intimidate me. Not going to work this time.

Yuhan came running up behind her, water rippling around his waist. His eyes showed frustration, but also strength and were very concentrated on his target.

"I swear to god if you dare hurt her...!"

"You better watch your tongue!" She snipped back at him, with no hesitation. She looked back at me, "she's my toy now. Enough of my black fire has spread through her body, so she is my honorary puppet."

Silence filled the area. She had my life by a thread now, I have no choice but to do as she says. If I die, my kingdom will go into chaos.

"However, I have no personal use for her, so I will kill her anyway."

The burns raced up my arm, causing all my nerves to explode with pain. I cried out, and Kai held onto me, attempting anything he could, but it was no use. The flames quickly consumed almost all of my body. I was dying.

I felt sluggish and collapsed the ground, in agony. The world was getting cloudy, and I could not hear anything. All I could see was a warm light...
