Chapter 15

"No!" I slammed my fist against the cold metal of the cage they tossed me in. I could feel the pain racing up my bone, and crumbled to the floor in pain, wrenching back the tears.

The covering flipped over the cage and the cage became pitch dark. I but hard on my list, reminding myself to stand strong and not them see me weak. Strength and courage was all I had now.

I should take advantage of the moment and see if I can figure out a plan once I get there. Maybe I could take out a few guards than flee, but I would need to get my hands on one of their swords, which would be very difficult. Or maybe I could... could...

What am I doing, trying to find hope in all of this. There's nothing left... I lost. For all I know Kai could be bleeding his guts out in the forest, if those guards found him.

I laid down on the cold, hard floor and shut my eyes. It wasn't hat much more dark with my eyes shut than closed. I tried to sleep, and imagine myself into a dream better than this. However, even if I do doze off into a wonderful dream, it's only a dream... and this cage is reality.

I bright light shine through the kids of my eyes. I blinked it away, slowly getting up and allowing my eyes to adjust to the sudden shift. I could see the blurry silhouette of a man, carrying the tarp that had once covered the cage. The image began to clear up, and I could see it was a palace solider, luckily a living one.

"We're here."

I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hands, " how long have I been out?"

"I don't know when you fell asleep," he rolled his eyes rudely. "If you slept the whole ride it would've been out... a day and a half."

"What?!? Oh, crap! Where's...!"

I shut up. If he did get away, I can't give him up. Better off staying quiet.

"Where's what?" The man snarled, impatiently.

I swallowed, feeling a lump in my throat. "Where...are we?"

He glared at me harshly, so I shifted my gaze. "The castle. The king has called upon you personally."

I shuddered and began shaking. He wanted to see me.... I'm afraid. I'm... really, scared. A kind of fear the puts you into a slight state of shock, but you can't completely faze out because the nerves keep pulling you out.

"Come on, don't make me drag you out."

I peered up and saw that the cage was open. I crawled over to the edge, where the opening was. I took my first steps on the familiar gravel I used to run across as a child. I lifted my head to the pearl white staircase, elegant as I remember, leading to the ornate from door, covered in embellishments of roses surrounding the door. The only difference was, instead of the guards with the castle uniform on, lining the railings of the stairs, there were two hound-like demons going up and down the stairs patrolling.

"Go on up, you know the way to your own room."

Fear settled deep in my gut. I took in a deep breath and began climbing the stairs. I could sense the demons hatred towards me, but I continued as if I didn't notice.

I pressed my hands up against the familiar marble, and pushed open the doors. Things didn't look very different from theist time I was here. Extravagant white marble flooring, Rare exotic plants and antiques sat on display to decorate the long hallway, and a big glass chandelier, sparkled against the lighting pouring from the windows.

It took a few moments to collect my thoughts and remember where to go. Three rights then second left in the east wing.

Everything looked spotless as if I had never left. My bed was made, and a long blush pink dress, with small flower detailing tracing a downward "V". I lifted the dress and pressed it against my body. It was a perfect fit...but, it's Scarletta, not Scarlett. I tossed the dress back down and continued to examine my room.

I searched in the dresser, looking in each drawer, making sure all my things were in here. I scoured all over, looking for one specific thing.

I found it. My potions that I've missed for so long. Buried underneath some cloths I used to cover it. I picked up a beaker filled with a thick black inky liquid. Smoke bomb forms when this one smashes, this should come in handy.

I stuff it deep into my bag I found in on too of th, along with some knock out gas and some poisons.

I heard a knock at the door. My heart started pounding as I quickly shoved the potions are far down into the satchel.

I quickly hurried to the door and opened it up.

I sweet looking maid stood outside the door.

"The King wishes for your presence."
