Icon [PicsArt]

Hewo! 👋

This is Hafsah Ahmed (Gemie_Gem)

I'm gonna do a tutorial on how to create a (somewhat) manipulated icon, using PicsArt.

What you need:

• A plain white 500x500 background.

• A silhouette of a person. (You can search Google for pngs of silhouette of almost anything.)

• An image with colorful patterns or textures.

Procedure:

Start off by opening the PicsArt app, obviously. 😂 (I'm using the Android version on my tablet, the iOS version is a bit different.)

On the top there will be a few icons, select the navigation compass  called explore and choose the edit button.

Or you can click on the + on the bottom right. Three options will pop up, along with the images you have in your phone/tablet. Select the editor.

1. Choose the plain white background from the images and select the edit option on the top right.

You can download the background from internet
and crop it to the right size. Go to the stationery
compass option on the tool bar in the bottom left, select the crop option and add your dimensions. Tick.

Or go to the draw option on the explore page or by clicking on the + button.

Select the blank option, type in your dimensions and save the image by clicking on the tick button on the top right.

(You will have to go back to the explore page and choose the edit option, then select the white background from the images though.)

You can also change the color in the draw option (the method is shown ahead) but we need a white background for this tutorial.

2. Slide down to the right on the tool bar down below, select the callout option (a dialogue icon). A lot of options will appear, choose one you like. Press the tick mark. You can also add text on it but we will leave it blank here.

Slide the arrow sign marked (a) in the picture above towards the centre of the dialogue sign and it will disappear. Just a circle will remain. You can increase its size by sliding the arrows marked (b) in the picture above, towards the bottom.

You can also change the opacity and other stuff but since I chose the white one with black outline, I didn't have to change any settings.

3. Click on the + on the bottom right.

A menu will pop up, select the add photo option (a page and plus sign icon). Select the silhouette png from the images.

You can increase its size by sliding the straight arrow marked (a) in the picture below or rotate with the curved arrow marked (b) on the picture. Move the picture around to get it's position right, if needed. Press tick mark.

4. On the tool bar below, select the draw option.

Select the color from the bottom left corner. You can costumize the color according to your image, with the help of the dropper option or select one of the provided colors.

Choose the brush option below (you can change the brush settings according to your need by tapping on the brush icon twice.) I used the first option.

Zoom into the image for better drawing by sliding your fingers away from the center of the screen. I filled the extra space, between the silhouette and the black circle in the bottom. Zoom back out by sliding your fingers towards the center of the screen. Tick.

You can also erase off any mistakes by selecting the eraser next to the brush.

5. Select the add photo option on the bottom, select the textured or patterned picture. Increase its size, so that it covers the whole white background.

Put the image on multiply. Decrease the opacity to half. (50%).

6. From the + option below add the same image again, increase it's size to cover the picture. This time put it on screen. Do not decrease the opacity. Press tick.

7. You can add text now, if you want to, from the tool bar below and costumize it's color, style and font or use phonto if you prefer to. I didn't add any text.

8. Select the effects option (a wand and stars icon) from the tool bar below. A menu will pop up. Experiment with different options to find your perfect filter. Tick when done. I used the one named drama, put it on darken and changed it's settings a bit.

9. From the tool option on the left bottom corner, select curves. Move the line upwards to brighten the image and downwards to darken it, I moved it down. Press tick.

10. Save the image. You can also rename the file. The image will appear in your gallery under the PicsArt folder.

And.... That's It Folks! 😅

Sowwyy! I know this is too detailed. I tried explaining every little aspect but if you still need help, feel free to PM me. 😇

Make sure to tag me in the comments, if you ask any questions below.

B'bye! 😘
