Let's just be real for a sec, I just saw a video called 'How to make a Wattpad cover on your phone' or something like that, and the creator did nothing but just adding a white frame and a title.

I can bet a million dollars that people can make better covers using a phone.

Because I make ALL my covers on my phone and feel very, I don't know, frustrated when people think you cant make detailed and beautiful covers on your phone.(I know not everyone thinks that.)

I don't know why I'm so mad but, yeah, this part is just a rant.

ON WITH THE TIPS.(This tips can be applied to covers that you make on any device, so this is just cover tips.)

Tip 1-Find some good pictures.

The first chapter of this book is literally what you need to find a good picture, but you might not be clear about what a 'good picture' is, let me explain.

A good picture is a picture which is visually pleasing, but for a cover, you'll have to find a picture better than that.

A good picture for covers, is a picture that fits the plot line, has enough space for the title, fits the atmosphere of the story, and has a colour scheme(Optional).

To be honest, there is actually no rules for a 'Good Picture', it is all based on your story.

Tip 2-Use some good fonts.

Again, there is actually no rules for a 'Good Font', it is all just based on your story.

If your story is scary, I suggest using cursive fonts.

If your story is cute, I suggest using round and thick fronts, but sometimes you can also use cursive.

If your story is sad, I suggest using hand-writing-ish fonts.

And if your story is happy,i suggest using round fonts.

But of course, those are my opinions.

Tip 3-DON'T USE BRIGHT COLOURS.

DON'T USE BRIGHT COLOURS THAT WILL LITERALLY BLIND PEOPLE!

In some occasions, bright colours might be suitable.

But don't use a neon pink for the title, a neon red for the author, and a neon green for the quote.

When choosing colours for the font, you will have to consider the atmosphere of the cover, the plot line and a colour that makes the words pop.

EXAMPLE:

This is a good cover, the colour of the font fits with the atmosphere, and you can see the title clearly.

Using the same picture, by just changing the fonts and colours, you can see the differences.

As you can see, the second cover makes people wanna jump off a bridge.

Tip 4 - Filters.

So when you put on filters, don't just randomly select one and be done.

Consider the atmosphere, how it looks, the effect it gives to the viewer...

And when you are making graphics, filters can blend pictures.

Filters can make pictures look like they belong, I know this sounds like absolute bullshit but trust me, it really works.

Tip 5-Avoid graphic thieves.

This isn't really a tip of making graphics, but I decided to throw this in any way.

When you add your watermark on the graphic, make sure to add it somewhere where is NOT a plain colour.

You see, people can just crop the background colour and paint over your watermark.

I learnt this when I was trying to crop watermarks out of pictures for my graphics, and trust me, it is easy when you have your watermark over a plain colour.

So yeah, when you apply your watermarks, add them somewhere where there is a gradient, building, model...

Tip 6-Practice.

It was one year ago when I started making covers. When I first was on Wattpad, I uploaded pictures as the covers, and when I first saw that I could add titles to pictures on Wattpad, I was like

"OH MY GOD I CAN ADD WORDS TO MY PICTURES LIKE ALL THE PROFESSIONALS!"

Like, no joke, I literally said that.

Yeah, so the more you practice, the more you improve.

Now, I am going to compare some of my old covers to some of my more recent covers.
