HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN COVER
Right, so I've been deliberating making my own tutorial on how to make a cover and I decided that yes, I will show you guys how I make my covers that are displayed here in the book:).
What you will need
I use 2 free apps that -iqxahx introduced me to, which are Pixlr and Phonto. Pixlr is used first to edit the photos then I use Phonto to add the font.
How to make your cover
1. Gather your resources. This means any images off Google or any that you have took yourself. I'll enter an image here that I found.
I've been asked how I get such great photos, and the answer is to know what you are Googling. Just typing in "beach" won't be enough, you have to put detail into your searches to get the most unique photos out of it.
2. Edit the photos on Pixlr. I am going to start to edit the picture by cropping it first. The picture inputted next shows you where to find everything on Pixlr.
As you can see, the image is now cropped and ready for me to put a filter on. Usually, I'll change the adjustment, blur the background and things like that, but I want to keep this tutorial simple so I won't.
This is where the filters can be found. If you swipe across, you get a wide range of them ready for you to use. I'm going to go with Anne.
At any time, if you want to compare the original image to the new one you can hold down on the image to see the old one. I like this image right now, so I'm going to press "done" and save it ready for use on Phonto.
3. Putting your text on in Phonto. Phonto is a really great app as it has lots of different fonts to suit each cover, which I like. Once you upload your photo onto Phonto, you click on the photo and press "add text". It will come up with a box that you write your text into and also some options at the bottom of the box. I am going to write my username in it for the purpose of this tutorial.
I don't really like this font, so I'm going to press font at the bottom of the box and look through my options.
These are just a few of the fonts you get to choose from. The list goes on forever! I'm going to choose the Alex Brush font for now, though.
You can't really see my text as it blends in with the colour of the background. Not to worry, as this can be changed too. Click on your text and press "style".
I'm just going to make this font black as it will show up well against the background. I will reposition it, then I'm done.
This is the final image. I'll make a more in depth one another day, showing you how to blur the background out but still keep an object in focus and how to use double exposure. Hope you find this helpful:)
