The Minotaur

Carissa didn't mind shop class, it can be pretty amusing since Icarus's dad teaches it and Hercules is always making himself a fool in it. Plus she was top of her class in it, she builds things with the imps all the time since she can't just snap her fingers and make things appear like her dad can, at least not yet. Daedalus was saying he wanted to make a flying machine but the school forbid it now they're stuck making bird houses. Carissa huffed just as upset as him, what the heck was she suppose to do with a bird house in the underworld? A flying machine would have been more fun, then she started thinking before she snapped her fingers getting a great idea. An A plus for sure.

After class she was asked to stay after.

"Want us to wait for you Kareena?" Hercules asked her.

"No, go ahead." She waved him off and sat in front of Daedalus. "You wanted to see me sir?"

"Miss Kareena would you mind explaining this to me?" Daedalus pointed to what she created in class.

"My project?" Carissa asked not knowing what to say.

"What was your inspiration?" Daedalus asked her.

"I agreed that a birdhouse was a waste of talent, so instead I thought outside the box and made a harpies house."

"Miss Kareena the reason I kept you after is because you are my top student, and even though it pains me to say it, you're even better than my son when it comes to craftsmanship and creativity." Daedalus complemented her.

"Thanks." Was all Carissa could say wondering where this was going.

"Which is why I'm inviting you to come on a little field trip." Daedalus finally explained.

"A field trip?" Carissa raised her brow. "Just me? Not the whole class?"

"Well my son will be along to, you see I've been invited to invent a wonder of the world, you are my best student and your creativity is beyond your years." He handed her a scroll to look over.

Carissa read it and widened her eyes. "Crete?"

"Yes, I've been invited by the king himself, all you need is your father's permission."

"Yeah, that might be a problem sir, my father wouldn't want me to go so far for so long. Not to mention Crete is a very dangerous place. My father freaks out when I say I'm going to the mailbox, who knows how he'll react when I say I'm leaving town."

"Well if you can convince him give him this permission slip and be here bright and early with it tomorrow." Daedalus said giving her a slip for her dad to sign.

Carissa thought about the offer the whole walk home. She knows Hades is going to say no but on the other hand this is one heck of an opportunity cause there is something in Crete her and her dad want, this might be her only chance to get it. So either she tells her dad the truth and he says no or she lies, get what they want and come back either grounded or rewarded.

"Daddy, I'm home." Carissa called as she took off her book bag and gave it to there servants so they can do her homework for her.

Hades appeared in front of her. "You're late."

"Sorry, one of my teachers wanted to see me after class." She held the slip to her side refusing to look at his eyes.

"What do you have there? Did you get in trouble or something?" Hades asked holding his hand out for it.

"No, I'm not in trouble, it's just you need to sign it."

"What is it?" Hades asked with his hand still out for it.

"It's... for home ect, they're asking you for your permission to talk to me about what to expect when our bodies start changing. They need to know you're ok with my teacher teaching me or if you wanna teach me yourself." Carissa lied.

Hades face paled, he never thought of having that awkward talk with his daughter. "Give me that slip." Hades took it, made a pen appear and quickly wrote down his cover name he's been using since parent's weekend. Not wanting to read it he quickly gave it back to her. "Ok, that's one less thing off my mind."

Carissa felt so guilty for lying but it will be worth it when she comes back home with a huge surprise.

Hades pats her head when he sees her look, he mistook guilty for embarrassed. "It's alright kid, you might find what they tell you gross but hey you only have two more years until you're an immortal then you won't have to worry about all that."

"Thanks dad."

The next morning Carissa left a note for her dad telling him she was going to school early and coming home later than usual telling him she has plans for her spying on Hercules mission. She slowly walked pass his door as quietly as she could and to the river.

"You're up early princess." Chiron said as she got into the boat.

"Something for school." Carissa told him as she grabbed her book bag that was filled with stuff she'll need on this trip instead of homework.

Chiron asked no questions as he rowed her out of the underworld. Carissa wished she could give him, her father and the imps a proper goodbye since she doesn't know when she'll be back. Chiron probably isn't going to row her out just by her word anymore, the imps will lecture her then cry about how worried they were and her dad... the thought of him made her shiver, this was beyond grounded material.

"Have a good day princess." Chiron waved to her.

"Bye Chiron, I'll being you the paper after I get home." She waved back, turned into Kareena and headed to where Daedalus was waiting for her.

"Kareena? What are you doing here?" Hercules asked.

"Daedalus invited me."

"You're going to Crete to?" Hercules panicked.

"I'm sure I'll be fine, it's just a field trip." With that she got on the boat and waited to set sail.

"Hey Kareena, isn't this great? You, me and Daedalus in a savage city building a wonder of the world." Icarus slid up to her.

"Yeah great." Carissa sighed making herself comfortable getting an extra amount of sleep before they got there.

"WHAT IS THAT?!"

Carissa jumped at the sound of Icarus's panicked voice to see there was a giant robot throwing boulders at them.

"This was a mistake!" Carissa screamed as their ship sank.

Carissa was glaring at the king hard when she finally got out of the water but he ignored her only talking to Daedalus. "All this is yours." He gestured to the building equipment. "Just build me the best labyrinth you can."

"A labyrinth?" Carissa stepped up. "That's it? You want a maze? What do you need an inventor for to make a maze?"

"Noisy aren't you." The king said to her with a grin she knew all too well.

"You going to answer my question?" Carissa asked her patients getting lower and lower every second she's with this guy.

"Kareena." Daedalus pulled her back. "We don't question royalty."

Oh how she wanted to scream that she was royal and the daughter of a God but of course that would blow her cover.

Later that night she snuck out to look for what she came here for, the sooner she finds it the sooner she can go home. However she didn't see it anywhere no matter where she looked. She's been gone from home for a whole day, yeah she's grounded forever.

When she got back to where they were staying feeling hopeless that this whole mission was probably just a bust Icarus ran at her. "Kareena! A min.. a min... a min.."

Carissa brightened up. "Minotaur?"

"Yes!"

Carissa burst with joy on the inside, finally she found what she was looking for. She grabbed Icarus's shoulders and shook him hard. "Where? Where is it?"

"It's in the castle!"

Carissa dropped him. Her face going from joy to anger. "You mean, the minotaur has been in the castle this whole time?"

"Yes! Isn't it horrible? It's in a cage but it's just so ugly"

"Excuse me." Carissa walked away from him and made sure no one was looking before she screamed and flamed up with anger. All the searching and it was in the same building as her this whole time!!

Quietly she came back over to Icarus. "Where is it?"

Icarus took her back inside to see the Minotaur was in a cage and Daedalus was talking about it to the king. "This is why I brought you here Daedalus, monster has been terrorizing Crete for generations. This is why I need your labyrinth, to keep my people safe."

"Well that is truly a noble goal, and a great challenge!" Daedalus exclaimed very excited. "No monster will ever escape the labyrinth of Daedalus!"

"Oh I'm a monster now?" The Minotaur snapped. "I couldn't pick my parents you know."

Carissa waited till everyone was asleep before she snuck in where they're keeping the Minotaur she didn't bother turn just yet.

"Well now. This night might not be so bad." The Minotaur grinned as he eyed the girl.

"You got that right, I'm here to make you a deal."

"What can a child like you offer me?" The Minotaur asked.

"How about a way out and a job." Carissa asked standing in front of his cage.

"A job? Just who are you?" The Minotaur asked.

"Thought you'd never ask." Carissa turned back into her goddess princess form and made sure her hair flamed bright so the Minotaur could see her clearly. "Name is Carissa, princess of the dead and daughter of Hades, hi, how ya doing?"

To say the Minotaur was shocked would be an overstatement.

Carissa reached over and used one finger to close his jaw. "Yeah I know, I have that affect on people. Anyway if you wanna get out of this mess you're in I'll get you out, however, you need to do something for me."

"What can I offer a god?" The Minotaur asked curious.

"My father is hiring certain creatures to join his business and rise up against Olympus, and you my friend are on his most wanted list."

The Minotaur crossed his arms and grinned. "You flatter me my dear but what is in it for me?"

"Not being trapped forever in this." Carissa held up the blueprints to the labyrinth.

The Minotaur eyed what was in store for him and gave out an angry roar.

"May I take that as a yes?" Carissa asked.

"You got yourself a deal kid."

"Good, now it will have to wait until I can get you an escape, I helped with the labyrinth so I know what to expect just play along until I can get you to Hades, alright?"

The Minotaur nods. "I look forward to it."

The next morning the Minotaur was put in the labyrinth, Carissa couldn't help but grin as he made quite the show.

The king was enjoying it to as they all watched. "What's the matter bullhead? Didn't they teach you about Labyrinths back on the farm? You've really done it Daedalus, I think we just might have a wonder of the world on our hands."

Daedalus was getting into the spirit to. "Hey! Why don't you try the next hall over? That's a dead end to! Ha in your face moo boy."

Carissa rolled her eyes. "Gloating does not look well on you sir."

"Now for the real fun." The king rubbed his hands together.

Carissa frowned, there was something else? This better not mess with her plans. To hers, Icarus, and Daedalus's surprise Hercules was now in a cage being lowered into the maze.

"Herc! What are you doing in Crete?!" Kareena shouted.

"I was offered some combat deal, I figured it was the only way to come and visit." He looked down. "So this is where the combat happens huh?"

"Combat? Don't be ridiculous Hercules." Daedalus said. "The labyrinth is for Minotaur containment only."

"Actually no." The king butted in. "Yes the combat does happen down there and no, the Athenian youth won't survive."

"My wonder of the world is to be used as a monstrosity? It's not possible." Daedalus denied.

"It is too possible." Carissa said.

"Oh man, we gotta help Herc." Icarus panicked.

"Now that's not possible, it will ruin my fun." The king said turning to Herc. "Let me give you a little advice son, scream loudly."

"The name is Hercules, I'm a fighter not a screamer." Hercules crossed her arms.

"Oh really?" The king grinned as the trap door to the cage opened making Herc fall into the labyrinth screaming. "Not a screamer? That's a beautiful scream! Kids got great pipes."

Daedalus started shouting directions at Herc but the king closed his mouth. "That's cheating, as a teacher you should know that."

The Minotaur then started smelling something close by. "Hmm, Athenian, human? No, demigod." The Minotaur looked up till his eyes matched Carissa's. Carissa smirked at him and made a slashing motion across her throat.

The Minotaur chuckled and followed his nose to find him.

Icarus suddenly grabbed something from out of his pocket. "Herc! Grab this magic thread!" However Icarus's aim was way off and the Minotaur caught it instead pulling Icarus down with it.

"Magic thread, thanks kid." The Minotaur thanked.

"You're welcome. I gotta go!" Icarus said before he ran away.

"Adding a second victim really spices it up." The king cheered.

"But my son!" Daedalus panicked watching Icarus run away from the Minotaur.

"I think we're at the vicious part!" The king clapped.

Daedalus had enough he used a powerful swing to punch the king right in the face.

Carissa flinched. "Nice swing."

Daedalus quickly grabbed Carissa and threw her over his shoulder. "I'll save you son!"

Carissa however growled. "Put me down!"

"That is one tough teacher." The king said before shouting. "Guards! Get them!"

"Hey! I did nothing!" Carissa protested as Daedalus continued to run with her. "Just where do you think you're going?"

"There!" Daedalus pointed to the giant robot that threw the rocks at them.

"Do you know how to work this thing?" Carissa asked as he climbed into it.

He tried to work it only to be hit in the head with something. "As soon as I save my boy and Hercules, I'm tuning this monstrosity"

Carissa rolled her eyes and pointed to a button that said 'on'

"Right, knew there was a reason I brought you." Daedalus pushed it making the robot start to walk and pick up a rock. "No! Don't pick up the rock ya bronze idiot! Go around it! Almost there, then they'll see I am no mere shop teacher, I am a world class inventist who will crush him and his bullheaded beast."

"You're suppose to be so smart, yet you stoop to name calling." The Minotaur said as he opened the door to get in.

"Yes, well when I said bullheaded I meant to say AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

The Minotaur picked up Carissa and showed her the door. "You might want to get out of here my dear, this is nothing a young girl should see."

"Such a gentleman." Carissa chuckled as she walked out and sat down on the grass to enjoy the show. She didn't however expect to see Hercules smash himself out of the maze.

"Kareena! Are you alright?"

"Fine." Carissa shrugged as she watched Daedalus run all over the robot with the Minotaur right behind him.

"Ya big bully!" Daedalus shouted.

"Bully? Was that a shot?" The Minotaur asked.

"Hey, if the horn fits." Daedalus shrugged.

"Hang on Daedalus!" Hercules ran over and started to lift up the robot shaking the Minotaur off it. "You're safe now sir."

"Well done lad." Daedalus yelled down.

"Ok, come down Daedalus, all's clear." Icarus called up before Hercules was rammed by the Minotaur. "On second thought! Better stay up there for a while, we got a situation down here."

"Hercules! Think catapult!" Daedalus suggested.

"Aw man, that was back in the first semester." Hercules said as he avoided getting ripped to shreds by the Minotaur. "Wait I got it." Hercules bends back a tree back and uses to slap the Minotaur right into the robot's hands.

"Great catch! Way to hustle!" Icarus cheered.

Daedalus then threw the Minotaur like a baseball and he landed right where the king and his guards were.

The king nervously chuckled. "Hi."

"Hello." The Minotaur grins before he starts the chase.

"Hey!" Hercules, Kareena, Daedalus, and Icarus all look up to see Daedalus's invention the hot air balloon was above them. "Need a lift?" Cassandra asked as she and the rest of the shop class were there.

"I have my own ride." Kareena waved them off before she ran away before anyone can stop her.

She finally found the Minotaur, wasn't hard this time all she had to do was follow the screaming. Turning back into her form she walked over. "Minotaur, ready?"

The Minotaur grinned and walked over to her. "As I'll ever be." He then bowed to her. "My princess."

"PAIN!! PANIC!!" Carissa yelled as loud as she could before the two crying imps appeared and hugged her.

"Princess! You've been gone for days!!" Panic cried. "We thought something happened to you!"

"You're in BIG trouble when you get home young lady!" Pain scolded her.

"Right, we'll talk about it in a bit, but for now..." Carissa smirked.

"Hello." The Minotaur said to the imps.

"A min... A min... A min..." The imps stuttered.

"otaur boys." Minotaur chuckled.

The imps screamed and ran behind their princess.

"Boys meet the new employee." Carissa introduced. "Now lets go home."

When the imps teleported them back to the Underworld Carissa told the Minotaur where to go. "Stay there, I'll introduce you." Taking a deep breath she walked in.

Hades was on his throne looking over a sheet of paper which Carissa now realized it was the permission slip.

"Hi dad." Carissa gave a small wave.

"Well look who's finally home." Hades said calmly, only anyone who knows Hades knows that when he's that calm he's really really mad. "So funny story. When you didn't come home I went to your school as Adian to talk with your home ect teacher to see if you were still there, only shes tell me you were excused from school to go on a field trip with that idiotic inventor. Oh and here's the best part, apparently I signed the permission slip for you to go."

"Yeah dad, about that.."

Hades interrupted her. "I'm not finished. So after I got the slip back from the school I actually read it, many times in fact to see that I gave my child to go to the most dangerous place in Greece, CRETE!!"

Carissa flinched as Hades flamed up.

"My immortal kid was going to the most blood thirsty island in all the cosmos and I apparently gave her permission to go."

"Well.. here I am, unharmed." Carissa tried.

''Not the point." Hades hand went under her chin and sqeezed her cheeks tightly. "My daughter lied to me."

"Would you have let me go if I didn't" Carissa asked.

"Oh I would have called you insane for having such an idea and then burned that inventor to ash for even asking you." Hades growled.

"May I tell you my side of the story now?" Carissa asked starting to lose feeling in her face.

"Fine." Hades let go of her and sat back down harshing putting her on the arm of his throne. "Tell me what was so important that you lied to me and had me worried sick about you for days."

Carissa let out loud whistle making Hades give her a look. "I'm waiting kid."

However the room started shaking and loud hoof prints filled the room until the Minotaur charged in and stopped in front of Hades. "Greeting my king, where do I sign to join you?"

Hades stared at the Minotaur shocked then turned back to Carissa.

"I went to Crete to bring you something you wanted." Carissa explained.

Hades quickly snapped out of it and turned to the Minotaur. "Welcome to team Hades, follow my minions to get your contract and we'll do lunch tomorrow."

The Minotaur bowed his head to Hades and kissed Carissa's hand before he walked out.

Hades stood their frozen as if he was now turned off.

"Dad?" Carissa said softly. "You ok?"

"You brought me the Minotaur?" Hades said in a voice barely above a whisper.

"It was the only reason I left to go to Crete." Carissa explained.

"DAMN IT CARISSA!!" Hades flamed up. "Here I was so mad at you! I had all of your punishments planned out! Now! Now I don't know what to do!"

Carissa grinned then kissed his cheek. "I'll help you think of something."

Hades sighed relieved and scooped her up in his arms giving her cheek multiple kisses. "I really did miss you."

"I missed you to." Carissa hugged him back. "Oh wait! One more surprise ." Taking his hand she ran to where the Minotaur was signing his contract. "Hey, Minotaur, who do you want to kill?"

The Minotaur growled the name. "Hercules."

"Ok Carissa, you're off the hook." Hades admitted.
