The Big Games

"Why are we here again?" Carissa who was now Kareena asked bored as she watched some idiots at her school try to lift weights, key word 'try'. She flinched when the gym teacher blew his whistle.

"Ok ok lets pick up the slack everyone! This year we're finally going to beat Sparta!"

"Yeah right." Carissa mumbles.

"Athletes." Cassandra sighs glaring.

"Jocks." Icarus added.

"The enemy." They said together.

Hercules and Carissa both looked at each other confused.

"Don't you feel sorry for them?" Hercules asked them. "I mean they lost 12 big games in a row."

"Plus this might be their last days, Sparta is going to kill them." She adds a big of a grin at the end. Her dad loves getting new souls now and then.

"Hey, maybe I can help out." Herc suggested.

"No no Herc, jocks are our natural enemies, right sugarplum?" Icarus looks over at Cassandra.

"Actually you're my natural enemy, jocks are a close second."

"Yeah who needs them?" Icarus added as if she didn't just insult him. "Sure they're more popular and more successful than us."

"Speak for yourself." Carissa mumbled, after all she's a princess, a Goddess to be and her dad is one of the three most powerful Gods she thinks that's pretty successful.

"But we're the ones with the good looks." Icarus added.

"And the ones with personalities." Cassandra said.

"Yeah, but they're the ones with the cheerleaders." Herc sighed dreamly. "Well I got a training session with WHOA!" A disk got him right in the gut knocking him down. "Oh, here you go." Herc threw it back knocking down three jocks into a target. "Sorry."

"Oh never apologize for who you are." The gym teacher said coming over. "Who are you again?"

"Hercules."

"Of course! The inconceivable strong hero in training!"

Carissa rolled her eyes knowing where this is going so she looked back at what the jocks were doing only to see another jock throw another disk at her making her dodge and roll out of the way. "HEY!! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING YOU BONE HEAD OR I'M SENDING YOU TO HADES!!!"

At that the jock suddenly did better.

The gym teacher grabbed them both and pulled them down to face him. "Why haven't you tried out for the team and why haven't you tried out for the cheer squad?"

"Because I'm not a perky idiot." Carissa replied.

"And I'm pretty busy with my training." Hercules said.

The gym teacher talked Herc into doing it easy but for Carissa it was a different story.

"I'm not doing it." She growled for the 100th time but the teacher kept following her.

"You're flexible, you're loud, and you know how to get the players moving."

"I used threats, not 'go team go!' Ick"

"There must be something I can do to talk you into it."

Carissa thought for a second before she shook her head. "Nope, nothing."

"You know, cheer practice is during class as well, you'll get to miss classes and a whole day if we go on one of our little field trips."

Carissa paused, she knew she was suppose to spy on her cousin but she so hated going to class, it was so long and boring. Plus if Herc is on the team she can still spy on him. "Ok fine, I'll try out."

"GREAT! With you and Herc on our side there's no way we can lose!"

When she could finally go home she turned back into herself and waited till she was next to her father who was reading scrolls. When he didn't notice he was right next to her she screamed. "DADDY!!!"

Hades dropped his scroll and dug into his ear. "You know if you were anyone else I'd kill you." He turns to look at her to see she's extremely unhappy. "Well now, speaking of which who can I zap for making you so unhappy?"

"MY STUPID GYM TEACHER!!" Carissa yelled so loud Hades flame went out but he quickly relit it.

"Did someone get a bad grade?" Hades smirked.

"NO!! LOOK WHAT HE'S MAKING ME DO!!" She turned back into Kareena who was in a cheerleading outfit.

Hades stared for a few seconds before he burst out laughing.

"IT'S NOT FUNNY!!"

Hades tried to stop his laughter but it kept coming out in muffled laughs. "My daughter, a cheerleader, never thought I'd see the day."

Carissa's who body turned red and burst into flames burning the entire room along with Hades scrolls. That stopped his laughter. "Babe, why did you even agree?"

"Cause Hercules joined the big games team."

''Really tell me..." He got interested but Pain and Panic interrupted.

"Excuse me sir, you're late for the all Gods gala."

Hades sighed. "Come on Carissa, you're the only one that's going to be there that I can stand."

On Olympus all the Gods were there except for Zeus.

"So are you going to the games brother?" Athena asked Ares.

"You know I hate sports Athena, a total waste of the human instinct on kill and meme."

"Spoken like a true war god."

"And I suppose you're going."

"Oh yes, I got every year to cheer on my loyal Athenians, this year we're going to win for certain."

"Oh Gods, I hate these monthly meetings." Ares sighed.

Carissa stomped past them still red.

"You're not the only one brother." Athena said watching Carissa slam a plate of food that was being offered into a servants face.

Hades however stopped to talk to them. "Athena, looking good babe, nice smile, let me borrow your bro for a second." Hades pulled Ares over to where Carissa was so she can hear what they're saying. "Ares, babe, may I call you babe? The war God supreme. Hey you remember the bronze age? Huh? Remember that?" That got Ares to grin, he was the only God that admired Hades business and Hades loves that Ares gives him business. "You slayed them I buried them, good times huh?"

"Alright Hades, what do you want?" Ares asked.

"Aright look, ok? Things are kinda dead down in the Underworld or actually not dead enough. Know what I'm saying, our soul index is at a two year low."

"That's what you were so into that you didn't even notice I was there?" Carissa growled figuring it out.

Hades turned to her with a small grin. "Not now princess, daddy's talking business." He turned back to Ares. "Now for a quick boost in the receivable department there is nothing like a war, but we've had a total of like zero wars lately so huh, what's up with that?"

"What do you mean? There's been plenty of wars!"

Carissa scoffed. "Yeah, that card game war."

"No there's..." Ares was stumped.

"I mean.." Hades flamed up. "WAR! I'm thinking the big calamarata, Sparta vs Athens. Boom, 15, 20K souls easy come on what do ya say?"

"Oh Sparta will win that for sure." Carissa said.

"You know I'd love to order my Spartens to invade my sister's turf." Ares said with a dreamly look on his face.

Carissa smirked her mood lightening up. "Maybe you should sweeten the deal daddy."

Hades got where she was going. "You don't mean..."

"Yep."

"What? What? What is it?" Ares asked excited.

"Sweetie are you sure?" Hades asked Carissa.

"Hey I'm on team Sparta, let him have it." She replied.

''Well Ares, since my brilliant daughter thinks it's a great idea, I will give you the Haden shield of invincibility!" He made a scroll appear and opened it to show a drawing of people who look like they're walking under a flaming boat. "Nothing can touch you when you have this baby, top secret here, you like?"

Ares was in awe. "Oooohhhhh, oh that looks neato! Invincibility huh?"

"Absolutely guaranteed to protect your Spartens from dismemberment, death and a variety of booboos." Hades added.

"It's a deal! You'll need a whole new sack of Athens wing to hold all my victims!" Ares told him.

Hades loved the sound of that. "New wing huh? Oh Ares I like it! You that God."

Carissa waited until Ares was out of earshot before she grinned at her dad. "A Haden Shield of Invincibility?"

"Sounded good, didn't it?" Hades winked at her since there is no such thing. "Now grab all the food you can and lets get out of here and go home."

"You got it daddy." Carissa and Hades took plates full of food and left before Zeus appeared.

"Your city state is going down Athena, I got the Haden Shield of Invincibility." Ares gloated to Athena.

Athena just laughed. "Oh don't be absurd, there's no such thing."

"Is so, I have it right here." He waved the scroll in her face. "My Spartans and your Athens tomorrow!"

"Oh no you're not!" Zeus appeared behind them. "Tomorrow is the Big Games, Prometheus Academy vs Sparta Military and my boy is playing for Athens!"

Ares whined. "Oh come on! There's a war on! I'm going to wipe Athens off the map!"

"Put a sock in it." Athena scoffed. "We'd mop up the park with you."

"Oh yeah! You and who's navy?!"

"The Athens navy you dolt." Athena replied smacking him on the back of the head.

"Silence!" Zeus shouted. "I am sick and tired of you two bickering like a couple of two thousand year olds. I will not allow your Athens vs Sparta war to ruin the Athens Sparta games... Say, war? Games? Athens? Sparta? Now that is a Godly idea! We'll decide the war on the athletic field!"

"What?!" Ares shouted. "My armies won't fit on an Athletic field!"

"No no!" Zeus shook his head. "Hermes! Write down a decree!"

"Here for ya babe." Hermes flew over ready to write down what Zeus has to say.

"Instead of war, human athletic indeverare shall decide who's state is superior. Which ever high school wins the most in tomorrows games shall win permanent bragging rights for their state forever."

"What does all that mean?" Ares asked confused.

"Our high school teams will decide the war instead of armies." Athena explained. "I like it."

"NO!" Ares jumped up and down outraged. "I AM THE GOD OF WAR!!"

To get him to shut up Zeus threw a thunderbolt at him.

The next day Carissa's screams ran through the underworld. "WHERE IS THE WAR!! IF THERE'S NOT A WAR IN TEN MINUTES I'M STUCK WAVING POM POMS AND JUMPING UP AND DOWN LIKE A FOOL!!"

Hades has been trying to keep her calm for the past 20 minutes. "I'm sure Ares is just getting ready for a surprise attack.''

"I WANT IT NOW!!"

Hades sighed. "Alright, lets go find Ares and you can scream at him instead of me." Hades and Carissa appeared in the God's booth at the field to see Ares watching his high schoolers getting ready for games instead of getting ready for war.

"Ares." Hades called him over while holding of to Carissa's arm so she doesn't attack him. "You got a minute?"

Ares walked over to them.

"Hey what kind of war God are you?!" Carissa demanded.

Hades covered her mouth with his other hand. "Let me handle this." He looked at Ares. "I've got construction workers starting on my sack of Athens wing and you're making bets with Athena. Hello, what happened to our war?"

"Sorry Hades, deals off."

Hades and Carissa both flamed up now. "WHAT?!"

"Didn't you get a copy of the decree?" Ares asked giving Hades his.

Hades scoffed. "Decree, hey no decree is written in stone." Hades took it and read it. "Blah blah blah, bragging rights forever." He sighed. "Ok, this one is set in stone."

Carissa grabbed it and started reading it herself while her father complained.

"Leave it to Zeus to chisel me out of a thousand souls before breakfast."

"Games." Ares added also not happy. "No blood, no bodies, who cares?"

Hades looked down at the crowd to watching the game. "Some turn out though huh? Every Athen and Sparta soul must be in here. Hey wait! Living, that could change." Hades grabbed Carissa by the back of her dress. "Come on sweetie, we're going to go see an old friend."

Hades and Carissa appeared in front of a huge door and rang the doorbell till a giant one eyed cyclops answered it.

"Hi! Is your mommy home?" Hades asked.

"Mom! The lord and princess of the dead are here to see you!"

"Oh Hades! Carissa! What a surprise." Hades made himself a giant and held Carissa in his hand.

"Echinda." Hades smiled at her. "You look great, the horns are polished, nice. I'm sorry to just drop in like this but I know how much you like to eat and Carissa and I found this great joint! We just had to tell you about it right away."

"Oh really?" Echinda grins. "Well come in!"

"I am talking a huge spread of bite size human mortals, sort of an all you can eat buffet." Hades continued as he went into her home.

After only 5 minutes of a visit Carissa was so bored as she sat in her father's palm while Echinda showed him pictures of her and her husband eating humans on a vacation they just took.

Hades was starting to get tired of this as well and put on his charm. "Echinda, did I tell you that you look positively nauseating today?''

Echinda blushed. "Hades, you old smoothie. Talk to me."

'Finally.' Carissa thought to herself.

"Yeah, so I'm in kinda a rush so here's the deal. There's a special of sitting ducks at the Speedy Pida park today. I'm thinking, you get a nice meal, I get a hundred thousand souls and a couple of vacant city states what do you say huh? Deal?"

"Oh I'd love to Hades really, but a hundred thousand? I can't eat like that anymore." Echinda replied sadly.

"Hey." Carissa stood up in Hades hand and grinned. "Big order I know, that's why we came to you. The MOTHER of all monsters. Hello! Bring your kids!"

Echinda's mood lighted up. "Oh! A family outing! What fun!"

"Please gather them soon." Carissa begged.

"And show no mercy Echinda." Hades added. "You want your meal, I want souls and revenge. They made my poor little Carissa so upset." Hades said as he gently stroked Carissa's hair with his finger since she was the size of a bug compared to him at the moment.

"And you'll have your revenge too Echinda." Carissa added with a huge grin.

"Revenge on who dear?"

"Who else but the one that hurt you and your youngest son?"

After Echinda had her monster children attack Hercules of course started to fight them and was winning while Hades' Carrissa, and Echinda watched from a distance away.

"Hey babe, no offence but you're not breeding monsters like you use to." Hades told Echinda while he was once again trying to calm down a flaming up Carissa.

Echinda agreed with Hades feeling disappointed in her family. "Kids today, I guess if you want to have something done right."

"You go girl!" Hades called after she started to walk down and attack.

Just as Carissa promised Echinda found Hercules and wanted him to pay for what he did to her and her baby last time she saw him. After a few pounds to the ground she was lifting him up to eat him.

"He's going to eat my Athenians!" Athena gasped worried.

"And my Spartas!" Ares panicked as well.

"We can stop her together brother."

"Together? You mean me and you?" Ares said outraged.

"Why not? We are after all siblings." Athena smiled.

"Well I usually work alone." Ares said. "Ah but what the Hades! Come on!"

Ares and Athena grew themselves to be taller than Echinda. Ares grabbed her and held her down like a football while Athena ran at her and kicked her as hard as she could sending her far away.

"Oh great!" Hades groaned. "There goes my sack of Athens wing, now I gotta fire the contractors and oy there's all that brimstone I have to return. I'll never get my deposit back, bada bing there goes my credit rating." With that he and Carissa disappeared back into the Underworld.

Next day

Hades was walking with Carissa with a blindfold over his eyes. "Carissa, I'm very busy is this necessary?"

"Trust me daddy." She made him stand right where she wanted. "Ok, take your blindfold off."

Hades took it off and his eyes widened at the sight. The wing he was going to use for the Athens vs Sparta war was packed with souls. "Carissa, how?"

"Well consider it my way of saying sorry for acting like such a spoiled brat the last couple of days. Instead of the sack of Athens I made it the wing of monster victims. Everyone who get eaten by a monster will come here now so you now have use for it." Carissa explained. "Why would we get rid of it and go through all that trouble when we can make it into something better?"

Hades pulled Carissa into a tight hug and repeatedly kissed her cheek. "I love you Carissa."
