Living Legend

"CARISSA!!!"

Carissa fell off her bed at the sound of her dad's angry voice. Quickly fixing her hair and clothes she ran out of her room and ran in. "Yes daddy?"

"How is it that this demi clutz can defeat muh!" Hades yelled.

Carissa looked at the TV and saw Herc was fighting a fake dragon Phil made and was getting covered in tomatoes. "Dumb luck?" Carissa guessed.

Hades angerly turned off the TV.

"Hey we were watching that!" The imps protested making Carissa jump, she didn't even know they were there.

"Pardon me?" Hades demanded using his fake calm voice.

"Sorry boss, we mean what is the deal? I mean the guy can't even tie his own sandals." Pain quickly made up so they wouldn't get roasted.

"Unless the goat man talks him through it." Panic added.

"Nice save." Carissa whispered to them.

Hades actually thought about what his minions said. "The Goat man, Philoctetes, trainer of heroes. He's teaching Hercules the ropes, he's showing Herc all the tricks, he's the one filling his head with all those hero rules!"

"You're making some big leaps here." Panic told him.

"And we're just not keeping up." Pain added.

"Luckily someone is." Carissa grinned. "If we promote Phil to the big leagues he'll dump the chump."

"That's my little evil genius." Hades praised ruffling her hair.

"I don't know boss, that old goat is very sentimental." Panic pointed out.

"Yes, I know, Phil is Achilles heal." Hades smirked. "Carissa."

"I'm on it." Carissa told him before kissing his cheek and rushing out of the room ready for her new mission.

"My girl never disappoints." Hades said proudly.

"You raised her great boss." The imps added.

Carissa managed to find the fallen hero at a county fair, she didn't see much of a hero when she found the famous Achilles. Guy went from muscles and locks to fat and bald.

"Unfortunately folks the two headed pig canceled on us." The fair announcer told the people. "But instead we have a famous hero, so give it up for Achilles!" The audience groaned in disappointment. "I know it was short notice."

"Oh this is too easy." Carissa chuckled, she only had to wait for a minute before everyone walked away from Achilles. Carissa snuck behind him and sat down on a create. "Wow, nothing like the old days huh Achilles?"

Achilles jumped in surprise and fell off stage turning to see the young blue girl with blue flames for hair. "Who are you?"

"Carissa, princess of the dead and the daughter of Hades hi how you doing?"

"Is it my time?" Achilles asked.

"Nope, I don't make those kind of calls, anyway, I am actually here because I am a fan and my dad is a huge fan."

"Of me?"

"No of the two headed pig." Carissa said sarcastically. "Of course you ya yutz! You were a living legend, you were HUGE." Carissa then looked at him. "Well you're still huge but in a different way now, but what happened? You could have gone all the way but ya got benched." Carissa pointed to his injured Heal.

"Hey everybody's got a weak spot." Achilles defended.

"An achilles heal if you will." Carissa chuckled.

"Hey look kid, what happened happened ok! You can't change the past."

"Too true." Carissa agreed. "Too true but what about the future? Your future, what if you could have it all again? And this time for keeps."

"But what about my huh problem?" Achilles pointed to his heal.

"It will be taken care of, all you have to do is meet my dad, make a deal and hey you're cured."

"Really?"

"You in?" Carissa asked.

"Yes!"

"OH BOYS!" Carissa called making the imps appear and teleports them both to the Underworld.

"Daddy, we have company." Carissa announced.

Hades walks over. "Achilles! Big fan babe."

"Achilles wants to be a hero again but won't because of his problem." Carissa explained.

"What problem?" Hades asked as he snapped his fingers. Achilles got taller and stronger, he had his head full of long dark hair again and no longer had a bad heal.

"Major upgrade huh?" Carissa asked Achilles.

Hades put his arm around Achilles shoulders. "I am here for you, but I do need one insy itsy tiny insignificant tiny little minchkin of a favor."

"Name it!" Achilles agreed.

The plan was in action, Achilles was to go find Phil and make him his own trainer again.

"Sorry daddy, but this monster was the only one available short notice." Carissa apologized.

"Who?"

"Memnon, but I'm sure he'll do fine, just breath some fire here and there and take a few punches."

"He'll do fine." Hades waved it off.

Carissa worked her charm on the monster she hired, she already had him wrapped around her finger just like she does with everyone else. Wasn't hard really, he seemed like a gentle giant to her. "This could be your big break big guy, do good and you got a gig with Hades."

"Got it, what's my motivation?" Memnon asked.

Hades appeared now the same size as the monster. "My face in your face." Hades said irritated. "Now go up there, go a few rounds with the big A and take a fall."

"Easy daddy." Carissa said calmly. "He's got this."

Panic went over. "And you're on in five, four, three, two.."

The streets of Greece started shaking and Memnon rose out of the ground breathing fire.

Hercules was ready to fight. "Ok Phil, just say when."

Achilles stopped him. "Sorry kid but I think this puppy is out of your league."

"Look, listen and learn rookie." Phil told Herc.

Achilles ran in front of Memnon and started the act. "Holt or I should thresh the."

"You? Thresh me?" Memnon acted before breathing his least harmful fire at Achilles before he felt a tug on his tail to see Hercules was trying to pull him away from Achilles. "And you are?" Memnon asked not caring for an answer as he swung his tail knocking Herc into a fountain.

"So big man, picking on a helpless kid now?" Achilles said to the monster making Herc feel insulted.

"Helpless?!"

Achilles tossed the monster into the fountain Herc was thrown into making his fire burn out.

Carissa face palmed as she watched. "This acting is so bad but at least Herc and Phil are dumb enough to fall for it."

"Rats, Achilles has still got it." Memnon said.

Achilles sent him a weak punch but Memnon made it seem like it was a powerful one and he fell back into the hole he crawled out of.

"I give you Memnon, master on monster!" Hades announced as the imps cheered for him.

Carissa shook her head, she couldn't even pretend to be impressed at that act was so bad but at least it got the job done.

"Super job, you're the best." Pain told him.

"Too kind." Memnon ruffled Carissa's hair. "Love your kid, thanks for the gig, lets do lunch."

"Hey no problem." Hades said as he pulled Carissa over to him and waited till Memnon was out of ear shot before asked. "What was up with this guy? Was he stinking up the joint enough? Geez."

"Like I said, short noticed." Carissa said.

Meanwhile Achilles was being surrounded by people and reporters. "Achilles! Should we call this a comeback?"

"Only if I can get my old trainer Philoctetes to come back with me!" Achilles announced sealing his part of the deal with Hades.

"Well that's very flattering, but I already have a trainee and all of this is very sudden." Phil replied.

"I wouldn't be what I am today if it weren't for this beautiful goat man." Achilles said.

"Geez Chil, I'm blushing. I always did say this guy is a winner. And I always guess I can coach two heroes right?"

Wrong.

Achilles was showing Herc up in everything. Training, strength, and even bought a new home for Phil.

Hades took Carissa and imps to the parade that was honoring Achilles.

Carissa chuckles as Achilles and Phil were waving to the cheering fan while Hercules was the one pushing the whole float.

"Ok boys, here's the scoop, Hercules is basicly like dangling at the end of his rope." Hades said. Some people turned around to see the lord of the dead making them scream and run away as Hades started turning red. "I'm sorry just visualize that." Hades said picturing Herc on a noose. "Now lets really burn him up."

Achilles then finished his job by saying that Phil had to choose between Herc or the superstar.

"Hello! Break out the ambrosia my minions! I believe we have just dissolved a partnership!" Hades cheered.

Carissa however wasn't so sure, Achilles was now all about the fame, but Herc he still believed in helping others, Phil is eventually going to see that Herc was right. "Daddy maybe we should have Achilles save some people, you know for the right reasons."

"Nah, we've met our goals, there's nothing else for Phil to do with Herc anymore." Hades told her. "Quit while you're ahead babe."

"But daddy.."

"Nope, no buts, over and done with back to plotting." Hades waves her off.

Carissa sighed. "No one ever listens to the princess." She knew Herc would never give up being a hero and she knew Phil was all about that hero stuff, her dad's plan is going to fail, so feels like she should do something about it.

Carissa snuck out and found Achilles in his new home stuffing his face with fresh fruit. "Look Achilles, if you wanna keep all this you're going to have to be a hero for real now."

"I am a real hero." Achilles waved her off.

Carissa started turning red. "You're an actor, if you want to stay like this you need to save lives, stop criminals, or even fight real attacking monsters, if you don't and Phil goes back to Hercules the deal is off and you're back to being a no body."

"Phil won't go back to that kid, he and I have a lot of history and who would give up all of this?"

"A true hero."

"Kid it's fine, go back to your daddy." Achilles assured her as some models started walking in.

"Ok then, so where is Phil now?"

"He went to the Island, said he forgot some new equipment."

Carissa was about to strangle this guy but she and Achilles were then in the Underworld with a very angry Hades in front of them.

Carissa gulped. "Hi daddy."

"Hi princess, go sit over there while daddy talks to Mr. Hero here." Hades said to her.

Carissa walked over and sat on the chair he pointed to and watched what was about to happen.

"Achilles thought you might like to see a little something I whipped up, it's called tartarus vision or TV for short." Hades explained as he grabbed a remote and the image of Phil and Herc training came on. Carissa was very proud of her dad for making such an incredible invention.

Achilles started getting very nervous, well who wouldn't when you have a very angry god of the dead glaring down at you. "Oh hey huh, look at that, Phil and the kid are back together huh?"

Hades grabs Achilles by the throat. "Yeah! And you're back to opening for the two headed pig!"

Achilles started begging. "Hey come on man, give me another chance huh! Didn't I tell you how great you look? Come on let me be a hero again please."

"You are not a hero." Carissa said from where she sat crossing her arms.

Hades turned Achilles back to the way he was, a total loser and sent him back.

"Well kid, you were right." Hades admitted to Carissa. "Nice job thinking with that wicked mind of yours."

"Thanks." Carissa grinned.

"But you're in trouble for sneaking out." Hades told her.

Carissa groaned. "Whatever, your fault for not listening to me, so the heal flamed out, now what are you going to do?"

"Well the basic idea is still good, what to do about the Herc, Phil conundrum?" Hades asked.

Memnon walked in and tapped Hades shoulder. "Hades, hey buddy, remember me? I'm your go to guy! Please please please please please!"

"OK! Everybody needs their break dad. This is yours." Hades told Memnon. "There's the kid and the satur, I need to see one of them dead."

"Anything you say big daddy." Memnon jumped eagerly. "Which one?"

"Hey monster's choice, surprise me." Hades shrugged.

Memnon appeared right in front of Herc and Phil during their workout.

"Ok, ready for some one the job training?" Phil asked Herc.

Hercules grabbed a shield and blocked Memnon's fire.

"Protect the noodle!" Phil yelled at him.

"Huh?" Hercules looked lost before covering his head with the shield as the fire breath rained down on him.

"Nice! Now watch your left!"

Hercules threw his shield to the left getting Memnon right in the forehead.

"Ow!" Memnon rubbed his head before going back to breathing fire at Herc.

"Yeah!" Hades cheered in front of the TV like he was watching sports. "Come on clock him!"

Memnon swung his fist at Herc knocking him away.

"Yeah!" Hades continued to cheer. "Now that's a good hit, give me some of that popcorn." Hades said as he stole the snack the imps made.

Carissa thought this might work out until Memnon announced he wasn't acting this time. "No no no no, shut up you idoit!"

"What was that little girl?" Hades looked at her with a glare.

"Not you daddy, HIM!" Carissa pointed to the monster on the TV.

"Acting?" Herc said confused.

"Cut the chatter! Concentrate !" Phil coached

"Yes! Listen to the goat!" Carissa shouted.

"Yeah, Hades wanted me to make Achilles look good, but when Achilles couldn't split you two up Hades sent me in to kill you." Memnon clarified. "Or the goat guy, doesn't matter."

"And there it is." Carissa sighed rubbing her temples.

"Why do they do that?" Hades said just as annoyed. "They gotta spill every little detail of the scheme."

"Let me get this straight." Herc said to Memnon. "Achilles was working for Hades?"

"What? You didn't think that loser could beat me without Hades now did you?" Memnon laughed. "That is rich."

"Holy, he was working for Hades?" Phil asked before he shook himself out of heartbreak. "Forget about Achilles kid! Concentrate!"

Herc grabbed Memnon's tail and wrapped it around his legs like rope. "Hey Phil! We did it! You and me together! We beat this thing!"

"Yeah yeah yeah kid, just make sure and keep your guard up." Phil reminded him.

"Consider my guard up!" Herc cheered before he got punched right in the face by Memnon's giant fist knocking him out.

"OH YES MAN! YOU THE MAN!" Hades jumped out of his seat cheering. "GO FOR THE KILL!!"

"Wake up wake up wake up!!" Phil shouted trying to wake Herc up and Memnon got closer to him.

"The hero or the hero trainer? How about both?" Memnon chuckled.

"And I thought your scrip dialog stunk." Achilles said to Memnon.

"Excuse me but I thought you got fired from this project." Memnon told him.

"Yeah well consider me a free agent." Achilles said before punching Memnon away from Herc and Phil.

"Whoa Achilles, you really let yourself go in the past few hours." Phil said looking at Achilles giant stomach and bald head.

"Get that kid out of her Phil, I don't know if I can keep that monster down much longer." Achilles said.

"But that thing will pulverize you."

"All my life I wanted to be a hero for all the wrong reasons, I didn't get it, but this kid he gets it. Heck even the daughter of Hades gets it. Let do this Phil, let me go out a true hero."

Carissa, Hades, and the imps all widened her eyes at Achilles mentioning the princess of the underworld knows what it means to be a true hero.

Phil also considered his words. "A coach doesn't quit on his players. Get in there and remember hero rule number 72."

"Asset the situation." Achilles remembered running back towards the monster.

"And watch your heal!" Phil reminded him.

"Alright Mr. Big Stuff you want some of this?" Memnon growled at Achilles.

"Keep your head up, watch your left!" Phil shouted from the sides. "No your other left!"

"Am I still fighting? Herc asked as he started waking up.

"No but he is." Phil answered.

"Is that Achilles?" Herc asked seeing the old, fat bald guy fighting a monster. "How long have I been out?"

"Thanks Achilles, now I can get Hades to pay me for killing three guys." Memnon thanked.

"Achilles! Hero rule 81! Use what ya got!" Phil yelled.

"Use your gut?" Achilles shrugged and hits Memnon hard in the face with his heavy stomach making Memnon fall.

Hades turned off the tv. "I hate this! This is just too much! I gotta I gotta rip their heads off just blast SOMETHING!!" He then sweetly called. "Pain, Panic can you come here a minute?"
