Chapter 22

"Do you really have to leave?" I pouted as I watch Seth putting on his clothes.

He turned to me and smile, "Unfortunately yes. I have a case tomorrow that I need to prepare for."

"But it's only 1' O clock. You can at least stay a few more hours."

He laughed, "A few more hours with you isn't just a few more hours. I need my energy, and all you seem to do is wipe me clean of it."

"But it's not like you mind." Of course, he didn't, he wanted more.

"Oh, believe me, I don't." He moved away from the mirror and look down at me. "This weekend has been great, but tomorrow is Monday and that means work for both of us."

"But this is better than work." A few weeks ago, my life was revolved around my job and then this beautiful man walked back in it and all I can think about now is staying with him in bed for a few more days.

"I agree but without work, I don't eat."

I frowned, "You drive have two cars, may I remind you that one of them is a Porsche."

He laughed and shook his head. "I'll see you again soon, Friday to be exact."

"Friday? That's so far away." Never in my life, I would imagine myself begging for a man to stay in my bed, but Seth wasn't just any man.

"That's the only day I'll be available this week."

 I sighed, "Okay."

He leaned in a kiss me on the lips.

He moved away from me and walked to the door. "I'm taking Briny." He threw me an imaginary kiss, "See you in court, Friday."

.....

The week didn't go as fast as I had hoped. I didn't have much court cases this week just a lot of settlements which could be twice as hectic as the court cases.

It was really difficult to get things settled in some cases last for months and all because one party doesn't want to take five million dollars.

Yes, rich people were a pain in the butt.

I hadn't seen Seth since Sunday, but he texted me every day to make sure I was okay.

For some strange reason, I missed having him around.

  I didn't even know why.

Maybe it was his laugh or his smile.

 I just don't know.

I sighed and looked down at my watch.

I had to be at the courthouse in forty-five minutes and I shouldn't be late, especially since the prosecutor is Seth.

I pushed the chair back and reluctantly stood up. I grabbed my case files and hurriedly made my way to the elevator.

I was late for the first case, so there is no way that I'm going to be late for this one. Mr. Benjamin would not be too pleased at all.

........

"Will the defendant call their first witness to the stand please?"

I nod my head at Judge Brown and stand. "The defendant would like to call Mrs. Walter to the stand."

Mrs. Walter went and sat on the stand, she placed her hands on the Bible and repeated after the tipstaff, "I swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth."

 "Proceed."

"Mrs. Walter how long have been working at Walter's Kitchen Utensils and more?" I walked closer to her and smile.

The older woman smiles, "Ever since I got married which is about 40 years ago."

I nodded and smile, "So that means you have quite the experience when it comes to household items, am I right?"

"Objection, your honour. The question is irrelevant." Seth shouted from his seat. I rolled my eyes but didn't take it off the witness.

Judge Brown shot him a look, "Overruled."

I smile, "Am I right Mrs. Walter?"

She nods, "Yes."

"So normally when a customer comes in your shop wouldn't they just get the full kitchen set? Meaning that the knives all match?"

 She nods, "Yes. They would."

"Thank you, Mrs. Walter." I turn to the jury, "I have pictures of the knife in Mr. Benjamin's home and one of the murder weapons." I took out the pictures from the folders and place one in each hand, "Do you see the big difference between these knives."

I turn to look at Mrs. Walter showing her the picture. "What do you see in the picture Mrs. Walters?"

"Well, all the knives in this picture are the same. They are all black with three holes which means they were bought as a set whereas the next knife is brown, it doesn't belong to the set."

I smiled at my witness then turn to the jury. "This is evidence that my client didn't kill Mr. Harrison but was framed. No further questions."

I flashed Seth a smile before I sat down at my seat.

Seth gets up from his chair and walked over to Mrs. Walter. "Mrs. Walter, do your store sell garden tools?"

I sighed, I knew where he was going, and I wasn't going to allow it. "Objection."

  "Overruled, please continue Mr. Parker."

Seth nodded at the judge then continued, "Do you company sell garden products, Mrs. Walter?"

"Yes, we do. We cater for all household products."

He nods, "So you're telling me there could be a chance where a customer buys different household tools from gardening tools."

She nods her head, her grey hair shaking, "Well, yes."

"No further questions." He turns to the jury. "The murder weapon was found in Mr. Benjamin's garden. I could be that he placed it back in the garden where it belonged."

I rolled my eyes. I couldn't let Seth get the upper hand over this case. I wasn't to let him.

 "Objection, Your Honor."

A big smile came to to my lips when Judge Brown said "Sustained."

I flashed at a smile a smile at Seth, but his face was emotionless, and he walked back to his side of the courtroom.

..................

Seth smirked at me, "Have I ever told you how sexy you look in a suit?"

"Good evening to you too..." I respond with a straight face, but I was really trying to stop myself from laughing out.

"Aren't you going to let me in?"

I shrug, "That depends on what you're going to do when you get in."

"I would tell you, but I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise." I didn't really understand how Seth could maintain the smirk for so long.

I pushed the door opened with and smile, "In that case, I should definitely let you in."

He walked passed me in my apartment and made his way over to my couch.

"How's Briny?" I asked remembering the little puppy I gave him Sunday.

His face lit up, "Oh she's perfect. Getting bigger and bigger every day. He looked around the apartment in search for the other puppies and frown, "What happened to the others?"

"Well, I gave my uncle one, my brother one, my parents took two and I have the other two." Monday night I had dinner with Uncle Gideon and Macy and since they had asked for once since Rojo was pregnant I just brought him along with me. Wednesday, I had a family dinner, everyone was there including Kyle's new girlfriend, who he was very much serious about and she wasn't a nurse like my mother said. She was an architect. Everyone was in a good mood and I was so happy when my relationship status didn't become a topic, instead, everyone was focused on the new couple. It had been the first girl my brother brought home so that meant he was in love.

 Way to go Kieron!

"That's sweet. I'm going to miss them."

I raised my brows at him and laugh. "I'm going to miss them. You barely know them."

I shook his head, "That's not true. I know them very well."

"Tell me one thing that you know about them." I lifted my hands showing one finger.

He placed his hands under his chin, "Hmm...Let's see. I know that they bark."

I playfully slap him, "Every dog bark."

"No shit Sherlock." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Anyways what are we going to do tonight?"

A big grin showed on his face. He stood from the couch and was standing in front of me. He placed his hands on my shoulder. "How do you feel Indian Cuisine?"

I shrug, "To be honest not a lot I've only had it once."

  "Do you like spicy food?"

I nod, "Depends on the level of spicy."

He grinned, "Perfect. We're having Indian Tonight." He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the door.

 "Wait, I need to change."

He looked now and my clothes and frown. I came from the office about an hour ago and I totally forgot to take off my suit.

"You look perfect. Just take off the jacket and you'll be fine."

I shook my head, "I'll look like a secretary."

"There is nothing wrong with looking like a secretary."

I pouted, "I know but you look nice it's fair if I look nice as well."

"Okay, fine. Don't stay long." He said releasing my hands.

With a smile on my face, I ran to my bedroom. I quickly discard my suit and grab a blue dress that didn't need pressing from my closet. I hastily put it and made my way back to the living room.

Seth was on his knees playing with Rojo and the remaining puppies.

I smiled at how sweet he looked playing with my dogs.

"As much I'd love to watch you play with my animals, I rather eat cause I'm starving."

He turned to me with his usual bright smile. He slowly stands up from his position not taking his eyes off me.

"You look nice."

I blush, "Thanks."

He smirked, "Oh, are you blushing?" he said as he slowly walks over to me.

I stopped blushing immediately and tried to hold a straight face. "I'm not blushing."

He shook his head and my lie.

"You're beautiful." He pinched my cheek as a grandpa would.

 "You're not so bad yourself."

He grinned, "Thanks." He brushed his lips on mine for a second then pulled back, "Let's get some Indian food."
