Chapter 18
"I didn't think you'd come," I said with a half-smile on my face as I watch Seth as he enters my car. After our last conversation maybe, he wouldn't want to see me ever again.
After all, I did suggest we become secret lovers since we are public enemy.
He shrugs then shut the passenger door. Putting on his seat he responds, "It's cool. I rather hang out with you than play Xbox."
I chuckle and raised my brows at him, "Really?"
He chuckles, "No.'
I laugh. I'd choose X-box over me any day.
Shaking my head, I took the car out of the park and start driving.
After a few minutes of silence, Seth asked, "So where are we going?"
I grinned at took a quick look at him, "The best Latin America Restaurant in America.
"So we're basically going to a Mexican restaurant."
"No, Mexico isn't the only Latin County in America. There is Panamá, Venezuela, Columbia, Honduras...Should I continue?"
He laughs, "Okay, I get you, Miss I know my geography."
"It's not geography." The only reason I know about the Latin countries is that I'm in love Spanish, the culture everything. It's one of my goals to visit the Caribbean Spanish countries as well as the Central and South America ones. I went to Mexico when I was in college so that was ticked off. The next one I'll be going is Cuba; for my vacation this year. I can't wait.
"What kind of food do they sell?"
I grinning I answered, "Everything, even Jamaican Food."
"But Jamaican isn't a Spanish country." He said confused.
"That's where you're wrong, the Spanish were the first persons to capture Jamaica and then the British came and took it from them. Even till this day, Spanish is Jamaican's second language, or third if you count Patois as one." I stop at the light and looked at him, his mouth hanging.
"What?"
"How do you know so much about Jamaica?" I could hear the curiosity and the amazing by his tone.
"Everyone loves Jamaica." Jamaica is so beautiful how can people not love it?
He tilts his head to the side and nod, "True."
I laugh.
"Have you ever been there, to Jamaica?"
"No," I said shaking my head. "I want to go though."
He reached over and placed his hands on my shoulder, "Me too, maybe we can go together sometime in the future."
I smile.
Maybe.
The stoplight switched and the cars in front of me start moving, taking the car out of the park, I start driving too."
"How far is it?"
"It's in New Jersey, Englewood. There's a lot Caribbean and Latin persons living there so that's the best place for it. We'll be there in thirty depending on the traffic leading to the bridge."
"You should take the Tunnel it's faster." I nod in agreement.
"It is but it's too far from Englewood, the bridge will lead us straight in."
"True, You're a true Miss Geography and History."
I laugh and shake my head. After living in America all my life, I think I should know a few places.
"Since I'm Miss Geography and History. What does that make you?"
"Oh, I'm Mister Law and Order." He said with a fruity voice and a smirk. "Sleek."
He acts as if he's brushing something off his shoulder, "Always."
I laugh and shake my head, "You're crazy."
"I'm fun. There's a difference."
I raised my brow and smile, "There's a fine line between fun and crazy."
"Says the girl who jumped from a nine feet high staircase." I quickly my head to him with my brows raised. How did he know about that? "Oh, I know about it alright. You look left and right yet you didn't look behind you. I was coming out of the bathroom when I saw. I was like this girl is either crazy or she just loves school so much she won't miss a class.
I turn, looking back on the road, I shake my head as I remember that day. Mr. Galen had told us about the test two weeks before. I thought everything was okay until I realize that I had an art project due that I didn't even start. I had to rush the painting and by the time I looked on my watch, I was fifteen minutes late for my test. With my paint apron still strapped around my waist, I ran so fast that when it came to the staircase I had enough speed to jump and I did. I ended up with a sprain wrist, but it was worth it because I passed the test with a 96%.
"For your information, I had a really important test that day."
"Your still crazy."
I shrug, "At least I know that if law fail me, I can become a stunt double. I have some really good skills."
"Oh yeah, I know."
It took me a while to pick up his sexual innuendo and when I did I laugh then push his shoulder. "I don't have any skill where that is a concern."
"Don't worry, A few lessons from me and you'll have plenty."
I shake my head between my laughs. "Seth Parker, what am I going to do with you?"
"A little later and I'll show you." He moved his hands up my thighs and then pat my front which was covered by the jeans.
"If you don't stop we might up in an accident and I won't be able to eat anything."
"It's the weekend, it's probably packed."
"It is but I made a reservation." I made the reservations the last time I was there three months ago and I made sure to call them again yesterday to confirm that I will be coming.
"So you had the plan to take a hot date to the restaurant but he cancelled so you dialled my number instead."
"Or you jealous?" I removed my right hand from the stirring wheel and pinched his cheek.
"What if I am?" I was a little taken back with his answer. Most men never admit certain emotions especially one concerning jealously.
Yet Seth wasn't like Most men.
He is so much nicer.
There was no need for me to get his jealous, so I told him the truth, "I go there alone all the time. It's actually one of my favourite restaurants and I've never shared it with anyone until now, with you."
"Why do you go alone?"
"Because I'm single and I was planning on marrying myself off to a Latino."
"You like those Spanish guys, eeh?"
"Yeah, but they don't like me so I'm going settle for anyone who speaks the language." In college I had a cross path with a few Columbian guys, let's just say it didn't go well.
"I speak Spanish or Castiano, whatever they call it."
And so does three-quarter of America's population, your point?
Instead of saying my rude statement, I smile. "So...Let's play a game."
"What type of game?"
"I'm not sure, you choose."
"Since you're driving the best game is twenty questions." The last time I played that game was my first year in college. My other years in college were spent partying and on loads of coursework to kill.
"Perfect, you start." It's always better to let the other person ask first to see the intensity of the questions that will be asked.
"Which month were you born in?"
I smile at the simplicity of his question. "June, you?"
"February. Your turn."
"What did you enjoy doing as a child?" For some reason, I was interested in knowing what little Seth was like.
"Apart from playing soccer with my brothers and cousins. I loved watching The Simpsons." I always heard people talking about The Simpsons, but I've never watched it before. "What about you?"
"Well," I laugh, "Definitely didn't play soccer or watch The Simpsons. Like most girls, I had a lot of dolls and stuffed animals and a lot of medical play kits. I'd pretend my students and I'd teach them, or I'd pretend there my patients and treat them. As for shows, I love, and I mean love Rugrats."
"I hate Angelica." I laugh at his words.
"Trust me, Seth, everyone hates Angelic. So ironic too, the word Angel is a part of her name."
"Devil in Disguise." I smile. We grow up in a time where cartoons were still good. Sometimes when I go on cartoon stations these days I wonder to myself. The only good cartoons that are being made now are Disney Animations and even as an adult I still sit down and watch Frozen, Brave and Mohana by myself.
"It's your turn to ask a question."
From the corner of my eyes, I watch him rubbing his head, "Who is your first kiss?"
I smile at the road ahead, "I was thirteen my parents had since me and my brother to a camp in Florida so the summer. Long story short, I was accidentally kissed by a 220-pound twelve-year-old, it was gross."
"How do you accidentally kiss someone?"
"Trust me you don't even want to hear his excuse." It a pathetic and lame excuse that I had believed when I was young.
"Trust me, I wanna hear." By his tone, I knew he wasn't going to give up.
Sighing, I begin to tell the most pathetic excuse ever. "My friends were playing Freeze, so I was stuck in one place and I couldn't move. My eyes were always close, so I couldn't see a thing. All of sudden I felt something smash on my lips. I immediately opened my eyes and pushed him away which took quite an effort on my part since I weight around 97 pounds and I'm pretty short. When I took him, he was removing the blinds from his eyes, because of his eyes covered with a handkerchief. He looked at me with a smirk. I shouted, "Why did you kiss me?" his reply was, "Well I kiss the tree and you're skinny as one, so I thought you were one." I punched him, and my brother and I got expelled from the camp. His name is Benjamin Wells."
When I finish Seth's, laughter fills the car.
I couldn't help but smile at the experience.
When his laughter calms down he said, "No that's what you call a first kiss story."
"What's your first kiss story?"
He laughs, "Nothing like yours." He laughs then continues, "I was twelve and I dare an Indian girl Rumi who I had a crush on to kiss me and she did."
"It's my turn to ask a question. I heard that this is a question you should never ask a guy but I'm going ask anyways. Who many girls have you slept with?"
He laughs, "Ah, woah. Not what I expected." He stays silent for a moment thinking then he continued, "Eleven. I'd had sex with 11 women."
"Woah, with your straight forwardness I expected more."
He shrugs, "And you? How many men have you slept with?"
"Three."
"Hmm. So, there's me, that Richard guy and who else?"
"How do you know about Richard?" Did I tell him about Richard? If I did, I have no memory of it.
"I'm a lawyer now tell me who is the next guy."
"He was my boyfriend in the first one and a half years in college." Morgan Fisher was a real sweetheart and smart too, but we wanted two different things in life and the chemistry wasn't there. We decided to call quits and be friends instead.
"That's the guy you lost your virginity to?"
I nod, "Yup. We were both virgins."
He laughs, "You have some stories."
"You have stories too." If there was any I'm certain of was that Seth has had loads of experience when it came to the world where I am still in a shell.
He nods his head, "Karishma Jones, you are something else."
So are you Seth Parker.
So are you.
