TWO - HEART CLINIC

What. The. Heck.

There he was, the infamous pop star standing in front of a hospital. A freaking hospital to visit someone he never even heard of, or, even saw. But of course, he wouldn't want to look like a new born fawn standing agape in front of a hospital right? So he flirted his way in.

Literally.

By flirting with the nurse to show him 'Akazuki Maika's' hospital room. He groaned internally when the nurse gave him a wink and shamelessly slipped her number into his palm. Ugh.

He recalled what the nurse had said (and winked) to him,

Room 304th.

Let's begin his journey of visiting a stranger whom he has never seen before, and pretend to know him by bringing these stack of papers and a basket of apples. Apparently, she's the 'school sweetheart' type who makes friend with every single human being in school she yet has entered.

He wondered, how can a person be this...friendly?

Lost in his thoughts, he continued to walk down the hallway before spotting a flash of red from a small square window on the door. Red, red, red.

Red hair; like his tsundere of a brother and that chick in a video clip. The cores of his annoyance right now.

So he stopped and gazed inside the little window, he spotted a girl near his age, clad in a normal hospital dress with her long red hair sprawled in the bed like a a silk fabric. She was laughing and giggling at the show she was watching from her laptop. While the heart monitor beeped next to her in a rhythmic pattern.

And the name plate under the window reads,

'Room 304th'

Oh great. Just. Joy.

Can his day gets any worse?

He turned the door knob and enter the room, breathing in the scent of strawberries, vanilla, and a sharp smell of something medical - like a normal hospital. But the strawberries and vanilla smell is weird inside a hospital room.

"Wait? Who are you?" The girl turned his way and stopped the show on her laptop. "Asakura Fuuto!?"

Can his day gets any worse?

...maybe it'll get better.

Fuuto chuckled at the flustered girl in front of him. "A fan, I see? Want an autograph?"

"No! Haruki will be pissed if I have anything you related." She explained while propping herself up into a sitting position an brought her hair back into a ponytail. "No offense, but he hates you."

"I suppose none taken." He groaned when he realized the all to familiar pop star's name. He placed the basket of apples in her nightstand and sat down the couch near it. "A sensei in school wanted me to do this."

The girl giggled, reaching for an apple before munching it down, "Wow, oh how flattered. Fuuto has came to saw this poor young lady." She mocked and giggled.

"That's not a way to treat an idol," He huffed quietly. "Be grateful, and introduce yourself!"

"My bad," She grinned before offering hand to the pop star, "Akazuki Maika, Mai is fine. At your service."

"You already knew me, stupid."

And with that they shook hands.

Fuuto glanced around at the quiet room, seeing a few clear tubes sticking out of a machine and into her body. The beeling heart monitor, the cold floor and the white sheets. Even with a clear sunlight, he despised hospitals.

"So, when are you going back to school?"

Wait, he didn't just asked her that!?

She shrugged despite of the touchy subject, "I don't know, even if I get better, school is just too much."

"Since when?" Oh come on, Fuuto Asakura is not caring and considerate!

"Forgot, it slipped my mind." She answered nonchalantly. "You'll get used to it in a while, the beeping noise won't matter in a while."

So she noticed?

"So! What have you got in mind to ask me?"

"Nothing~" He cooed, flicking of her nose to make her back away and shut those curious eyes forcing the truth out of him. "And you'll be to stupid to understand."

"Hey!"

"What?"

"I'm not dumb." Mai huffed, crossing her arms. "I'm nothing but dumb."

"I don't know about that," He smirked, seeing her flustered expression just lightens his tired heart a lot. "You seem like one."

She huffed again before giggling which soon turned into a fit of laughter and louder laughs like tinkling bells. He mused, staring at the girl like she's mad. Well, she probably is but that's not the point.

"What?"

"Have you cheered up?"

How?

"What are you talking about?"

"This is my amazing mind reading skill," She joked while pointing to where her brain is supposed to be. "You seem like a puppy who got kicked in the gut and fell down a river."

"I did not."

"Hmm, yes." She giggled. "But I don't care, I cheered you up didn't I?"

Yes, yes, yes.

"Not at all." He stated. "This is stupid."

"Oh," She replied with a hint of sadness evident in her voice. "Well, you're welcome to come back anytime!"

"Not that I will."

"Oh, you have my words baka-idol."

He glared at her as she flinched but grinned anyway, "Take that back."

"Oops! Visiting hours are over, come back tomorrow then! Bye!" She waved her hand making a 'shoo' motion. "See ya."

He hummed in reply and brought up to his feet by his beeping phone, indicating his schedule for a photoshoot. Mai grinned a friendly smile and waved a hand at him.

He walked out of the room and shut the doors behind him. He won't come back here again right?

He exited the hospital with her eccentric hair, tinkling laugh, big smiles, and friendly aura still in his mind. Engulfing his heart with a warm sensation, known as happiness.

Maybe he'll visit her again. Maybe.

<How he hoped he knew what part Akazuki Mai will play in his life later on. Then he could've prevented it from happening.>
